Hot Take: People need to realize that Destiny is enough for most people.

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 12:04 PM PST

Put simply, I want Destiny 2 to improve; there's a lot of ways it can do that, obviously.

But a lot of people on this subreddit think that what the consumer is buying is of a poor enough quality that it's going to harm Bungie in the long run. The truth is that Destiny wouldn't be preparing for 2 major expansions in the next years to come if Bungie wasn't sure of the profitability of the game.

Everytime a new expansion or season comes out, the general populace purchases it, enjoys (or doesn't) their time, and moves on. The sales are met, and general customer satisfaction is achieved.

All the cries for boycotting the game by telling people to "stop buying Silver" or "fail the events" or "stop playing" ring mute to everyone outside of the echo chamber we have in this subreddit, because those actionable concerns aren't going to be heard by 90% of the consumer base that would make a difference in Bungie's return on investment.

I'm saying this because it feels we get these same posts every week or so of the same repeated, pat-yourself-on-the-back reassurance that we're actually standing up for everyone by pushing for a better quality product when we know we're gonna pick up the new expansion and season when it drops, because subconsciously, it really is enough for us.

I know it's enough for me to keep coming back, even though I know it can be way better. But at least I recognize it. Other people should recognize that this game is enough for them, but then keep pushing for a better product.

We'll get nowhere by denying it. If we really want to make a change, we're going to have to change up our tune. Actually commit to things. Maybe if everyone on the subreddit stopped playing, they'd have to look somewhere else for community suggestions, since you'd have to be delusional to think they're not taking into account what's being said here and on YouTube and Twitch; they clearly are, and clearly have, but we have a hate-boner for everytime something isn't immediately addressed and then a love-boner when it is.

So, if you want to keep playing Destiny and make things better: be realistic. People love playing Destiny; they're fine with the state of the game. If you have suggestions for improvement, leave constructive criticism and advocate for it to more influential people.

Enough with the performative boycotting and weird obsession with fantasizing over the death of this game, or with spinning strange narratives about the higher-ups and management.

    Be practical, please.

    Thank you <3.

Banshee selling Light From Darkness- warmind cell mod

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 09:02 AM PST

Rapidly Defeating enemies near warmind cell makes you charged with light.

Not sure the uses, but cheers for warmind mods!

Edit: Probably use in conjunction with power of rasputin as you leave the cells up for a bit to take advantage of the buff.

Edit2: few loadout ideas: global reach, rage of warmind, wrath of Rasputin, light from darkness and high energy fire (or reactive pulses/protective light).

Other option: global reach, grasp of warmind, light from darkness, power of rasputin and high energy fire/reactive pulse.

I Committed War Crimes Against Guardians

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 12:06 PM PST

Last night, after running DSC, my friends and I went into a private match of survival. After it was clear that I was NOT as good as the other team, i started goofing around. I put on Jotunn, i camped heavy with EOT, and finally I switched to Sweetbusiness.

I got the idea that we should all run sweet business in IB as a six stack. We weren't playing to win but oh god did we win. Two of us switched to titans with actium war rig and bubbles, the warlocks switched to nova bomb, the hunters went with stasis. Myself and the other titan would bubble on capture points while hunters and warlocks terrorized points not under our control.

I'm sorry to all the titans that popped barriers in corners just to have them eaten by 3 sweet businesses. I'm sorry to every roaming super who couldn't close the distance in time. I'm also sorry that killing us just meant that we would refill on ammo.

6 sweet businesses is an act of terror and i recommend it to everyone with enough friends to run as a group of machine gun wielding maniacs.

PS extra sorry to the one guy that DM'd us and said "your guns are stupid loud. there's no way i can compete against 6 of those"

It’s WAY easier to acquire exotics than mods

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 05:58 AM PST

and that both makes exotics feel less valuable and exciting, and makes something that was intended to allow the player to customize their gameplay style feel like a crapshoot.

I've been playing this game for years Bungie - why do I have every exotic and barely any mods? At least give us an easier way to farm them. They aren't pinnacle content, they're customization - you should make them rain!

Bungie Plz: Bring back Ada-1 and the Black Armory, but on a schedule similar to Iron Banner or Trials.

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 06:08 PM PST

We've got some pretty cool examples of time-gated activities (Banner for a week a few times a season, Trials only on the weekend). Why couldn't we see a similar rotation for PvE using previous seasonal activites like Forges, Menagerie, or Sundial?

Using the Armory as an example, it could rotate in for a week, four times per season, where each week is a different Forge and only the weapons for that Forge were available to grind for (plus the experimental frames, maybe). Might be a very cool way to sometimes introduce new weapons every so often, too. Either way, the players get the content back but it doesn't need to permanently live in the game.

Would be interesting to see stats on how many PvP matches ended as a mercy in 2019, and how many in 2020.

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 08:49 AM PST

Is this available anywhere, given that there are trackers for the PvP matches we all play?

The crapfest of the last few months is ridiculous. Freelance IB is barely any better than the normal IB option. And it has never been like this before. After being mercied 5 times in a row, now the team I was on just did the mercy. And it's not even because of stasis (this mercy/ balancing issue is from pre-stasis).

There is no reason an enemy should be marked for your entire team if they're frozen in PvP

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 11:33 AM PST

This feature basically negates any chances you have of actually surviving being frozen. Getting frozen still is infuriating enough, but having a giant target placed on your head makes breaking out pretty much pointless, and destroys any chance that you could survive on the off chance the guy who froze you got pushed away by your teammates in time

Clan mate is into tabletop Destiny and has asked me to print a few things over the years. Here's my latest creation. Quite pleased with this one so thought I'd show it off a little.

Tip of barrel to butt is about 20cm, scaled to 32mm miniatures (maybe a little on the bigger side).

Printed on a Elegoo Mars and Anycubic Photon Mono X resin printers in around 21 pieces. There's also a fallen brig in the same style, thats 80mm tall, again printed in resin.

Both files from thingiverse. thing:3968878 and thing:4432242

Godrolls SHOULD be readily available with sunsetting pushing items out

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 10:24 AM PST

With a shelf life of one year, weapon rolls should be readily available to get the EXACT roll you want. I'm not saying EASILY available, but there has to be set progression where you cannot just hard farm for months not to get it, even with targeted drops.

IE - First In Last Out with auto loading and vorpal. I never got one even with targeted drops and double perks with the dirty engrams.

Issue 1 - Lack of rewards. We don't feel rewarded when it's just straight up hopeless RNG to get what we want. Miniscule odds to be rewarded.

Issue 2 - Inventory bloat. Save a weapon roll for PvP QP multi kills (like rapid hit kill clip), roll for comp/trials duelling (rangefinder/opening shot/quickdraw/snapshot), roll for general PvE (rampage, overflow), roll for high level PvE (disruption break/oneforall/demo). You need to save WAY TOO MANY rolls of the same damn weapon, and thats only IF you get the weapon. Or what if a perk gets nerfed/buffed? Well shit, now we need another copy with different rolls

Issue 3 - Sunsetting putting a timer on weapon rolls. How bad does it feel to finally get your desired roll 8 months later with it only having another few months of use to go? Yeah, thanks curated kindled orchid for your weeks of service. Why not make it more obtainable, but at a cost?

Issue 4 - Almost perfect. Get that adept Astral Horizon sweet! Rifled - YES. Light Mag - good enough, Opening shot - YESSSS! Field prep - FFS.... scrap again.

My solution - We need a guaranteed weapon progression system, not at the mercy of 100% RNG. We could use crafting mats to add perks to our guns to eventually get the desired roll, with a cost. That cost is paid for by our game time and getting items we do not want. We will pay to upgrade our weapons, more costly the more the weapon is tweaked.

Stat slots - Barrel/Sights, Magazine, Perk 1, Perk 2, Masterwork.

Barrel - Item drops with 2 barrel perks base. We can unlock an additional random barrel/sight for 25 weapon telemetries. If you don't get what you want you can just keep spending to upgrade and eventually unlock them all. Give weapon telemetries a use and meaning

Magazine - Item drops with 2 magazine/battery perks. Each add on takes something like 50 gunsmith parts

Perk 1 & 2 - Add additional perks for something like 3 cores, 10 shards and some glimmer. Over time can unlock the entire perk pool so you don't need multiple different rolls. If you only PvP and want one roll, get the one you want and done. Don't need the big commitment to unlock it all. If you do both with that weapon then it could be worth it to unlock everything. good rolls still valued if you get what you want, saves from having to unlock others

MW - Just bring back the reroll like we had w Y1 weapons

Lastly add elemental swap. If we don't get full arsenals each year which would be way too many weapons needed to be replaced, let us change the element of our weapons so we dont need to save a copy of each just for match game, or in kinetic vs energy slot. More customizable weapons will greatly reduce the outrage of missing weapon types and lack of loot

Bungie has proven that it isn’t possible to have a steady stream of high quality content.

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 07:24 AM PST

Bungie keeps trying and keeps trying. But we've never ever ever, for 7 years, had a full year of good content. Closest thing was D2Y2, and 1) Black Armory and Drifter received mixed reviews at launch and 2) Bungie said that despite having both Activision AND High Moon studios AND Vicarious Visions, their work/life balance wasn't healthy.

I think content droughts are necessary.

But that's not the biggest issue. By going free-to-play, now Bungie has two crowds to please. They essentially have two games to make, one is the ftp season pass with a shitty activity once every three months, the other is a AAA full-priced MMO. That's insane, and I don't know why Bungie is trying to tackle that.

What ends up happening, and what has been happening, is that the full-priced crowd gets screwed. Bungie is having to resort to reskins to keep content afloat, but not even reskins are enough to spend enough time on content to make it high quality.

The raids are great. But everything else is lackluster. I don't think Bungie WANTS that, but they have wayyy too many goals and wayyy too little time to accomplish them. This game needs clear direction and a clear vision.

Can we have some energy 120 hand cannons?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 12:49 PM PST

I was looking through my collections page today trying to find any 120s I could maybe farm for. I was really enjoying Arbalest lately and wanted to find an energy 120 hand cannon to use with it. To my dismay, the only energy 120 hand cannon in existence is the void Thin Line from the Forsaken world drop pool. It's a sunsetted, unobtainable gun that would have suited me just fine. But that is the ONLY one. No blues, purples, or exotics that are energy 120 hand cannons. Bungie please give us one of these to add some diversity to the loot pool.

TL:DR, There are no usuable energy 120 hand cannons in the game right now.

Played a heroic strike with Phil Spencer last night (head of Xbox, and avid destiny fan)!! He’s a great visionary and one of my select man crushes. He killed it, too!! Most kills in the strike. Super fun. Makes me wonder has anyone else played with him? Gamer tag is “P3”.

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 08:50 PM PST

Also, a friend of mine got match-made with Phil in D1 year 1. I was so jealous and in a way have been looking for him ever since. Six years later...

Rewards from crucible, IB, and gambit are so bad i don't even look at them.

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 06:43 PM PST

Bungie needs to get on the loot. It is terrible. If I play gambit or crucible loot is so predictable and bad I don't even hardly read what it is before I shard it. And if you are 1250+ why even get blues? What's the point???

“This is a battle for territory, one that you can win”

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 04:15 PM PST

Then why in the Travellers name do you keep putting me in matches that are 10 to 60 Shaxx?

I might have taken out Ghaul, awoken the traveller and there may be gossip about how me and my clan are making a difference, but the other team has done this too, and apparently they're more efficient at it than the team I'm joining will be capable of in that match. Word on the street will be how they used my face as a fresh mop for the crucible bucket!

Maybe, if a team is 40-50 points ahead of another, don't prioritise that game in the join in progress queue, so that the battle for territory is actually one that I can feasibly win without breaking my back?

Why isn’t there a Europa PvP map?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 04:15 PM PST

This must have come up and was dismissed at some point in production of the expansion. The community deserves to know why BL was shipped without a new PvP map. Was it a result of transitioning to work from home? Is PvP not a focus for development? Silence about this only breeds resentment and concern within the PvP community. "Bungie Plz" give some insight into what a lot of folks are seeing as ignoring PvP within Destiny 2!

It worries me that Bungie isn't even trying to make products they ACTIVELY sell (Forsaken and Shadowkeep) desirable.

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 10:54 AM PST

Right now, EVERY single piece of content in Dreaming City and the Moon (outside of the Raids) is useless. Blind Well, Ascendant Challanges, Shattered Throne, Altar of Sorrow, Nightmare Hunts, Pit of Heresy. These are activities that are available in-game with 0 motivation to play them (except for PoH for materials). But with a simple hotfix, Bungie could give us a reason to go back and play them.

I'm not talking about a full rework of the weapons and the perks available on them (even though this would be nice). I'm talking about something simple Bungie has already done for Iron Banner and some world drop items. Just raise the power cap on rewards available from these activities.

To clarify why i'm worried. This is a simple fix that would make a product Bungie is trying to sell desirable. But Bungie doesn't even seem to care.

Sure, new content beats old content that has been recycled, but we already know that Bungie is limited in their capacity to create new content. So why are they in a hurry to make their products useless? I mean Shadowkeep only had a year.

I'm just stunned by their decision to retire the content but actively sell it at the same time.
