Own a Felwinters Lie for home defense

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 05:40 AM PST

Own a Felwinters Lie for home defense, since that's what the Iron Lords intended. Four guardians break into my house. "What the traveler?" as I grab my Wormhusk Crown and aggressive frame shotgun. Slide and blow a axion bolt sized hole through the first guardian, he's dead on the spot. Draw my Better Devils on the second guardian, do very little damage because it's sunset, thanks Luke Smith. I have to resort to the drake tank parked at the top of the stairs loaded with solar rounds, "Eyes up, guardian" the explosion vaporizes two guardians on the spot, the sound and extra shrapnel wake up Lord Shaxx from his afternoon nap. Fix weighted knife and bullseye the last terrified light bearer. He bleeds out waiting on the vanguard to arrive since his ghost has no hands and can't stitch him up. Just as the Iron Lords intended.

Fully Masterworked Exotic Armor Shouldn't Cost 3 Ascendant Shards to change Affinities anymore.

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 09:15 AM PST

Before Beyond Light, I guess it was okay to restrict the slots so people can't change affinities on the fly. But now with all general perks being homogenized, there are very few reasons to have those costs be so high anymore.

The only things we are now restricted from equipping are things like Dynamo, Recuperation/Better Already, the Elemental Resist mods, etc.

Then, there's the Charge with Light mods which add some much needed build potential BUT are restricted mainly because that mod slot is extremely cluttered with stuff and having all mods accessible at once, I can see cause a problem.

I don't see a good reason to block us from switching between Recuperation/Better Already/etc with an extremely high Ascendent Shard cost for Exotic Armors. There is enough competition in each Armor slot now that it becomes very difficult to actually use something like 2 Dynamo versus Targetting mods, Stat mods, Charge with Light.

Let's lower that cost to 1 Ascendent Shard OR maybe even only 1 Prism now. We aren't going to see someone in PvP unslot all their mods, change affinities, reslot their mods into something "busted".

Only exotics should require an ascendant shard to masterwork.

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 06:06 PM PST

A piece of legendary gear, that's getting sunset anyway shouldn't require a ascendant shard to fully masterwork.

So i bought Shadowkeep only to find out that 95% of the content is pretty much obsolete and if this wasn't frustrating enough i get stuck in one of the boss areas from the shadowkeep campaign mission where you have to explore the pyramid. At least Bungie could make the campaign work...

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 06:39 AM PST

I find it pretty shocking that Bungie is allowed to even sell this without any warning that most of the items you get are basically useless...

who at Bungie thought it was a good idea to remove my expired ramen coupon, only to give me an infinite fruitcake and a sock engram?

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 11:08 AM PST

expired ramen coupon: something to remember Cayde-6 by; no in-game value but it's a memento for players who have known the character since D1.

    vs.

donation receipt, infinite fruitcake, etc: a Seinfeld reference and a stupid fruitcake; no significance for the player base whatsoever except as a way to remember a community event where Bungie had to buff the participation rate so the player base wouldn't fail miserably.

Bungie, it's my inventory space. If I want to keep my expired ramen coupon, let me keep my expired ramen coupon. At least the ramen coupon was "important" to the story and the lore of the game. And you can't tell me it's about inventory space when you dump all of these useless Dawning items into my inventory instead. The disrespect is real.

TL;DR: give me back my ramen coupon.

    edit via /u/animeye:

More importantly: They added a "collectibles" section in the collections. Why are these things with zero use going to the inventory at all, rather than just being things that show up in the collections? The new dawning items aren't even in the "collectibles" tab currently, they are just.... completely pointless?

The problem with crucible not having any loot is you don't get rewarded despite having a bad time

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 09:21 PM PST

This is vitally important. Remember all those times in D1 when you would see the dude with a solid 0.17 land a top tier legendary or exotic?

The crucible players are upset that it feels like that mode is neglected and the loot just isn't there. I have to agree. But it's not just the crucible high end players that are losing out, we all are.

That feeling for a person who is not good at crucible just means they have no incentive for their time even if they're having a bad time. There is no reason to get excited about getting blues, legendary shards and gunsmith materials while you lose and lose.

Call me crazy, but just for once, can we have a storyline where we don't "prevent the enemy from creating an army" as the first step. I would very much welcome an actual army of Fallen with Stasis or Wrathborn hordes to fight.

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 09:09 PM PST

I would love to have fought a large army of Fallen with stasis, not just bosses that scarely appear. Instead, we "stopped her from building an army of Darkness" and we get the same boring fallen as a result. Nothing new.

The same with the Wrathborn. You took the time to create a story, a name for them and the Commander/Recruiter, but we destroy The High Celebrant and the Wrathborn before they even became a real threat.

The same with Hashaladun. We prevented her from using the Darkness from the moon pyramid and creating a Hive army (assuming it would have gifted it to them like it did to Eramis).

I just feel the game would be more, I don't know, satisfying if we get caught off guard a few times. Oryx and the Taken was great. Ghaul and the Cabal invasion was great. Since that, we have not really had any "oh shit we're fucked" moments. We keep preventing things from when getting started.

The heavy slot is so overcrowded with exotics it gets nearly impossible to run exotics in other slots.

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 06:11 AM PST

Basically title. The heavy slot right now has Lament, Eyes of Tomorrow, Anarchy, Xenophage, One Thousand Voices.. All great options in the heavy slot and head and shoulders above the others, especially legendaries.

Yeah let's talk about legendary heavy weapons.

Rocket Launchers? Trash. They do need a buff, not so much for damage, but for magazine size. We need to be able to hold 2 in the tube at the very least, if Bungie does not want to bring back Tripod. Also, as a side note.. Chain Reaction is an awesome perk but I will most likely not use my heavy to kill a bunch of red bars.

Linear Fusion Rifles? Oh boy.. I'm surprised they are still considered heavies. That says it all.

Machine Guns? Fairly cool for ad clear, but then again.. If I'm not running double special, I really don't want to use my heavy for ad clear. The boss damage has been totally slaughtered though, so they can't be useful there.

Grenade Launchers? Decent mid range weapon for major/boss damage, good ad clear potential (even though, again, that's not the role of a heavy weapon imho), but realistically only good with Spike Grenades. It also will be too inaccurate from a distance.

Swords? Falling Guillotine is still good, although not as it was before. Other Adaptive Swords are also good and excel in close range but they are virtually useless for every encounter that doesn't allow you to be up close and personal.

To sum up, Swords and Spike Grenade Launchers are the only Legendary heavies in a good spot, and their options cannot compete nor be even close compared to their Exotic counterparts. While this is fine, because Legendaries shouldn't be as good or better than exotics, I also feel that they shouldn't be so heavily outclassed to the point where not running an exotic in that slot is effectively a detriment, save for niche cases like being the Divinity runner on a raid encounter.

I don't want Exotic heavies to be nerfed, far from it. But I would like Legendary heavies to be brought up a little bit, in order to at least pose a choice. I really want to use other exotics like Outbreak ot Bad Juju or Telesto or Le Monarque and so on, but every time I do, I feel like I'm effectively making it more difficult for me because anything I have in that Heavy Slot is so much less efficient and powerful that the exotic choices I have.

TL;DR hey bungie please bring up Legendary heavy weapons, especially RLs, LFRs and MGs, so that they finally are a choice too.

Does Bungie not understand rewards? Baffled by the latest Coup De Grace mission.

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 09:50 AM PST

Mission was easy enough to solo, and looks like another weekly pinnacle source. That's all fine and good.

The huge bummer was that this entire season led up to this mission that stated "high stat" armor rolls, which then rewarded me with a 56 total stat helmet.

Up to this point I've now purchased 7 lure upgrades and completed literally hundreds of Wrathborn hunts for the same pitiful loot experience. Why can't they just say hey, have this weekly source of a 62+ overall? Are they afraid of actually rewarding the playerbase with meaningful items?

Also, the ship reward appears to not be guaranteed as I did not receive it after completion.

edit: Looks like the ship is supposed to be a guaranteed reward but is currently bugged: https://twitter.com/BungieHelp/status/1346540647411433472

Revert the Nerf to Peregrine Greaves

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 10:32 AM PST

Right now, there is absolutely no point in running Peregrine Greaves over Synthoceps (aside from fashion, which is a worthy reason). Upon release, Greaves increased Shoulder Charge melees by 600%. Now that they have been nerfed, there is no reason to use them.

    Peregrine Greaves -

    • 300% damage

    • only works with Shoulder Charge abilities

    • requires charged melee

    • people mostly only spec into Strength when running Behemoth

    • does not work with Behemoth

    Synthoceps -

    • 300% damage

    • any melee ability (when surrounded, lasts 8 seconds)

    • even uncharged melees

    • buffs melee range

    • buffs Super damage (when surrounded)

Here is a list of reasons as to why Greaves were nerfed in PvE:

    • They were fun

I have also compiled a list of reasons as to why nerfing Greaves was necessary from a PvP standpoint:

Preferably something with a more armored appearance to better match with some of the heavier looking armor sets.

Like...I've got what is clearly rigid composite armor over my head, arms, and torso. But I'm wearing sweatpants with hoses to protect my legs. This needs to be remedied.

Main Ingredient was also removed from the loot pool

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 08:15 AM PST

In addition to many players' anecdotal evidence of not getting a Main Ingredient in weeks... According to light.gg, nobody has gotten one for at least 6 hours. I noted earlier that there were 120.9k+ copies of Last Dance in the game. This number has gone up every hour, and now there are 122.1k+ copies. Main Ingredient, on the other hand, has been sitting steadily at 39.7k+ copies. This, in combination with the fact there are 3x more Last Dances despite them being (re-)introduced at the same time and available from the same sources, convinces me that Main Ingredient has been removed from the loot pool. I believe it was removed at the same time as True Prophecy but we hadn't realized it.

EDIT: Main Ingredient has risen to 39.8k+ copies, but this is likely due to players logging in for the first time in two weeks (read the light.gg FAQ). So long as this number continues to rise much slower than other weapons, we can be fairly certain it is not rising due to new drops.

EDIT2: Okay the number of copies of both weapons have suddenly fallen below their original values when I made this post. Perhaps this is not something we can rely on. I guess we just wait for someone to come back to this thread saying they got a Main Ingredient since reading it.

Last month I made multiple posts about True Prophecy being removed, tagging and messaging Bungie staff until eventually they came out and admitted it in a TWAB.

The reasoning for True Prophecy being removed was supposedly that:

True Prophecy was removed due to adding the Seventh Seraph hand cannon and wanting to make sure the world pool has a balanced distribution. Those two along with Dire Promise would mean players would be getting more kinetic hand cannons over other drops in the world pool, and our goal is to ensure players have wide variety of archetypes in the world pool.

Most of us agree that these three hand cannons are wildly different from each other and should all have remained in the pool (honestly I suspect TP's removal had more to do with its clone Steady Hand coming back). But if this was Bungie's reasoning, we can understand how it would apply to Main Ingredient as well. On the same day they re-added the Seventh Seraph HC and removed True Prophecy, they re-added Hollow Words. Hollow Words is an arc precision frame fusion rifle, just like Main Ingredient. It was always strange that both existed simultaneously - Hollow Words should have been a different element from the beginning. But Bungie made that mistake, and this is a poor way of correcting it. It's more like a coverup. I prefer the perk pool for Main Ingredient by a longshot, and wish I could get more rolls to tinker with.

Personally I'm less irritated by this than the True Prophecy removal, but it's still just sad to see them making the same strange decision twice. And weird they never mentioned Main Ingredient when they mentioned True Prophecy. Are there others? Will this happen again? We're all asking for more loot, and they're taking loot away before it's sunset. They made that big announcement about increasing the loot pool and we all sang their praises, meanwhile they secretly removed 2+ weapons at the same time. Plus all the 1260-capped weapons. What was the net benefit considering this? Couldn't have been much.

Love or hate sunsetting, I'm sure we can all agree that Bungie needs to at least be transparent about things and not make sudden, secretive decisions like this that screw over players who made their own decisions based on what expectations Bungie had previously set out. If a weapon is capped to a certain season, we should be able to continue obtaining it until that season. Period.

To celebrate The Dawning 2020, I recreated all 5 new recipes that Bungie introduced! (Recipes Included!)

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 08:31 AM PST

I posted the first 2 of the 5 before the holidays but I wanted to update and share with everyone now that I've finished them all!

Since the pandemic I've been making my way through the Destiny Cookbook and I thought it could be a fun project to recreate the 5 new cookies that we got to make with this Dawning! I'm a huge fan of Binging with Babish and wanted to take his approach and really try my best to come up with accurate representations of each cookie!

    Blueberry Crumblers

Shaw Han loves his blueberries so I really wanted them to shine here! I was thinking of doing a blueberry version of a lemon bar but I felt like it needed to be crumblier. I did some researching and saw that the method of making Hungarian Shortbread, where you freeze and grate the dough, results in a super tender, light crumb. Easily our households favourite of the 5!

    Classic Butter Cookies

Eva prefers a more classic cookie and what's better than butter? Brown Butter! If you haven't tried browning butter for your baking, please start! I figured that Eva, like most space Grandmas, would probably smell liked baked good so I added a little nutmeg and cinnamon. I used cookie stamps to give them a little extra space sass. These sorta taste like buttery, molasses cookies and that's always a good thing.

    Bright-Dusted Snowballs

Tess gets fancy with her snowballs! At the start of the holidays I ate some Mexican wedding cookies and knew that they would be perfect here. I used ground pistachios instead of the traditional walnut/pecan because Tess would probably like the extra indulgence spent on her and Fenchuch is always on the hunt for fine goods! The cookies were then dusted with powdered sugar and food grade glitter for that bright engram shine!

    Bittersweet Biscotti

When handing these to Crow, the text states that Crow can faintly smell chocolate and almond so I included dark chocolate and roasted almonds in the recipe. For some extra bittersweetness (and some ironic flair) I included some blood orange juice and zest.

    Etheric Coldsnaps

This was the cookie that stumped me a little and was harder to think about something for it! The game states that it's a frozen delicacy but I still wanted to include some baking element. I was eating some peppermint bark and realised that this could be perfect as a Dawning treat. So I came up with: Peppermint Snap Ice Cream Cookies! The cookies are made with cocoa, topped with white chocolate and crushed candy canes. Then they are sandwiched together with vanilla ice cream. We now have a nice supply of these in the freezer!

This whole project has been a lot of fun and the support from the community has been awesome - the retweet from Bungie yesterday was just the icing on the cake! I'll be doing this again for Dawning 2021 but my goal is to make entire cookie boxes filled all the baked treats available. I will try and set myself up to take better photos and maybe upload some videos if people would watch that? I'll be adding the recipes in the comments below if anyone wants to try :)

Ignoring old content amplifies the shortcomings of drip fed content.

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 05:32 AM PST

When the focus on new content is the reason for the lack of adjustments to older content and such as weapons, exotics and activities such as Shattered Throne, results such as Wrathborn hunts hurts real bad.

When the standards are as low as patrol seasonal events, I for one could easily see the community prefer exotic catalysts, adjustments to unused exotics to increase build potential, over a half baked seasonal activity.

The old saying regarding teaching a man to fish rather than just handing him one makes me think of the current approach to trying to retain the playerbase, where the seasonal content is limited and makes us feel bored soon after.

I'm not even talking about creating anything, just implementing catalysts and adjustments. I hope this wasn't toxic, I just feel the distinction between sunsetting and ignoring old stuff needs to be made. Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.

Please add an ability to select the next map in Crucible and the next strike in Vanguard playlists. Also, I feel that a new mode where waves of enemies are thrown at the guardian (like Halo Reach's firefight) would be very popular with the community due to content drought.

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 10:07 PM PST

On the first point, I feel like it's pretty self-explanatory. Being able to choose the next strike or the next Crucible map would be such a boon to players. The grind in this game is exhausting (not a good thing Bungie so don't pride yourself on it), and to be able to vote for a strike or map would help in the bounty grind. Need forsaken kills or Hive kills for the weekly bounty? Let me pick a strike with those enemy types. Not only that but you are letting players have a choice over a randomized selection of options.

On the second point, this game is really missing a dedicated horde/firefight mode. I have seen a lot of really creative pitches that are very in depth, showing well thought out structures for a horde mode. I believe the desire from the player base for this type of game mode is there. (I could be wrong). Escalation protocol to me was was reminiscent of Halo Reach's firefight mode, and this style of play seems like it should always be a must in this game. High difficulty narrative missions which focus on a boss are there, straight up pvp is there, and then there is the hybrid blend of gambit. But sometimes I just want to be tested from the start with onslaughts of enemies rushing at me. I hope that this would become a permanent game mode, added alongside strikes, gambit, and Crucible. The game play of destiny is repetitive in nature, and with content vaulting and sunsetting the game has become even more repetitive with the decrease in total breadth of content. Without a horde mode, it feels like the game is lying to itself about how repetitive in nature it is. Embrace the repitition and start throwing hordes of enemies at guardians.

Concept: Stronghold - PVE Extreme Community Horde Mode

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 12:15 AM PST

    STORY BEHIND THE MODE

Asher Mir appears through the Vex Portal Ikora built to destroy the Undying Mind which rest in a Vanguard Vault below the Tower, bearing a warning about what the Darkness has done to the Tree of Silver Wings before he descended into the Pyramidion. A White-darkness infused Orb sits above it, the Pyramid Ship harvesting its energy as Io remains veiled within a Paracausal Barrier that nullifies the light and keeps Io in complete Darkness whilst those trapped are taken over by the Pyramid Ships influence, changed and turned into Shadows of their former self.

He brings the message that the darkness has begun to terraform Io and the once-light unfused Cradle of the traveler has become a staging ground for a new Black Heart, much larger and more potent then the one found in the Black Garden, imbued with the Light to create a Dark Traveler. This is the start of reclamation for Io and the Exo Stranger assists Asher Mir in the recovery of artifacts created by the Darkness, asking the Guardians to reclaim them so she may study the true power of Darkness and help us wield it against it.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Concept Mode

Imagine Io, a taken planet from the Darkness's Arrival re-appearing, learn about true darkness and enhance your Stasis Subclass. Being thrown into a Destination-Wide war where the darkness has taken over completely with enemies trapped on Io with True Darkness. The Destination acting like a massive Battlezone, a never-ending fight that has us fight back Darkness-Infused Enemies where Stasis is the only super and using abilities increases corruption, a character debuff which acts as your barrier to farming this mode for extreme periods of time.

The main objective is to claim Artifacts from the Darkness which we must fight back hordes of Darkness Infused Cabal and Vex to discover the True power of the Darkness and increase our abilities of Stasis into something more. Single-Life only, Community Focused Design, No Radar enabled and made that all the drop zones are active and random. 12 Players landing in each area of a map to fight back the darkness. If a Guardian falls, it teleports the Guardian into Pyramid Ship where you MUST fight a random nightmare from their past. If you kill the nightmare, your returned to the zone however if you fail, you are completely corrupted and returned to orbit, your failure increasing the power the enemies fighting in the zone for a brief amount of time.

If you also stray too far from your fireteam, you will begin receiving "Encroaching Darkness" which will increase your corruption exponentially. Health Regeneration is reduced to 10% meaning there is a level of challenge and using your super and abilities refills it fully at the cost of increased corruption. Reaching 100% corruption means you will be covered in a Darkness cosmetically and your Stasis Abilities are enhanced at the cost of being locked out of the Stronghold for 24hrs unless you complete a mission which has your re-attune your alinement with the Light however reduces the damage of Stasis super back to normal (THIS DOES NOT IMPACT PVP).

The unique design is that there is no matchmaking, all servers sync'd and you load straight into the map in a random zone to continue the fight. You earn a currency from killing enemies which is then converted into Darkness Infusing Material which helps increase your resilience and damage against these enemies on Weapons/Armors it is infused with within the Stronghold Zone.

Each week, a zone is classified as Entropic Zone which has Enhanced Darkness Infused Enemies and Cosmetic and Weapon/Armor within its loot pool. This can also act as a Pinnacle Drop for the week for those who complete the weekly objective. Remaining in this zone does not increase your Corruption outside of Super and Ability Use and will let you remain in the zone for as long as you wish, HOWEVER this zone is Fireteam Inclusive meaning no matchmaking.

This is also where VIP targets are Darkness Infused Guardians whom have abandoned the light and been trapped on Io since the vanishing of the planet .These Guardians have no Ghost or Super abilities, instead they wield the darkness in its true form as their abilities which includes:

    • Grenade Tether: Suppresses and Tethers the Guardian, trapping them and slowly increasing their Corruption.
    • Snap-Blink: Teleports 2M away or above, almost like Blink but faster and stronger.
    • Infusion Slam: Imbues the ground with Darkness and creates a slow field.
    • Whispering Darkness: Creates a large darkness field that damages the target by concentrated spinning darkness swirling within, this also slows the target and suppresses them.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Weapons and Mods | Infused Weapons

    • Edgeless: Sword with a Heavy Attack that for every successful Heavy Hit, suppress and increase damage for a short amount of time.
    • Reclamation: Hand Cannon [140] Lightweight Frame.
    • Entropy: Auto Rifle [720 RPM] Rapid-Fire Frame- Silence: Scout [Rapid Fire].
    • Emergence: Pulse Rifle [Rapid Fire].

No weapon concepts and will update as I work out the meta for the mode

Infused Weapons: Increases all damage from that weapon by 10% in Entropic Zones, Strongholds and Nightfall: The Ordeal

    • Everlasting: Increase all Void Damage by 12%, reduce all stats by -10
    • Salvation: Decrease all incoming damage by 5%, Super Gain reduced by 10%
    • Eyeless: Increase all Weapon Damage by 15%, increase all incoming damage by 20%
    • Lifeless: Increase all abilities and super gain by 15%, decrease all weapon damage by 15%

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Armor: Cosmetic Only, Ornament Design | Earned through killing specific bosses or Dark Guardians

    Universal Set: Whispering Darkness

    • Hunter: Misty Darkness Design, sharp triangular shaping, Reactive Colors depending on health
    • Warlock: Robes made of Darkness, Gloves with golden claws for nails, helmet is a cowl covered in Darkness, Mist is reactive and more damage you take it changes from Black to a deep crimson red
    • Titan: Sharp Triangular Shoulders with Polygonal Design, Reactive Armor where the more damage you take, the more it cracks and shows red mist

Would love to see someone do some art for this

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Ship + Sparrow + Ghost

    • Ship - Mini Tetrahedryon Seen during Season of Arrivals
    • Ghost - Covered in Mist, looks like Sagira in design but more edgy and covered in Polygonal Design
    • Sparrow - Normal Sparrow that when boosting, becomes covered in Darkness Architecture and Symbols with the boost being Pitch Black Mist

Got no names yet for the above sorry!!

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is only a concept, none of this is real or could be real but we can all dream, welcome to an early look at Lightfall if not as this is one hell of a mode that i would play the heck out of. Note this will be updated on the fly and adjusted through comments and my personal Discord Community

Edit - Updating Format and Text as well as flow of text and information

Update: Never thought this concept would get this much traction, reading through all the comments and even those that say "Go submit this and a Resume" to Bungie is beyond even my original thoughts when I designed this. Reading through all the concerns however, I can see this mode may not be as popular with Stasis Only which would mean a change in how we are able to use our Light Subclasses would be in order but on the whole, thank you for all the upvotes and awards. Living in Australia means I just woke up to all this, you guys have all truly made my day!!.

To also cull thoughts this wouldn't work on Previous Generation, it actually could as Escalation Protocol was able to hold 12 players in a single instance. Think of it as active matchmaking where when you load in, you are connected like in the tower but given a random zone.

Also love the name of the Ship, Sparrow and Ghost which was also mentioned, credit goes to you for helping the concept come together further!!.

I find it funny that duskfield grenade does a better job cutting off areas/pathways than an actual wall grenade.

    An Opinion of Destiny 2

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 09:33 PM PST

    This is a personal opinion.

    • I think Stasis is better than the other subclasses in some respects because it is more than just a purple, blue, or orange flavor of damage. It does something new and unique. It enhances PvE by giving more choices for engagement and cover while doing the same with PvP. It isn't ~perfectly balanced~, but neither are other subclasses in PvP - some will always outshine others, and when one does something that only it can do, it will be really painfully obvious.
    • PvP isn't the main point of the game - that doesn't mean it should be ignored, or that it's pointless, or that it's not worth playing - but asking for entire season(s) to be catered to singularly the PvP audience isn't realistic. Further...
    • PvP isn't balanced, and only ever was (sort of) during the double primary days of D2. There has always been a class that outshines others, a subclass that is stronger, a set of weapons that do better; in other words, a meta of abilities and weapons that will dominate. Stasis has some overly strong features, but it's core ability to control the battlefield so strongly is oppressive because it's meant to be. I don't think PvP will ever truly reach that "competitive" level that so many people want to see, because the power fantasy of Destiny will inherently clash with it unless the sandboxes are 100% separate.
    • Beyond Light has/had a sizable amount of content, to me. I never once got all that bored, and if I did, I played another game until reset and then continued playing Destiny.
    • Seasonal content allows for a drip-feed, which also happened with Beyond Light, so that you can't just rush through all the content in a weeks time; it's spaced out, slowly, which is annoying at times...and rewarding at others.
    • The removed content, didn't matter. If it was still in the game, it would just be bloat; I haven't once cared about going to the other areas besides maybe Mars because I sorta like it's design. It had no purpose in the story or game world besides older, legacy content, and would only serve to bloat game time to no end. Removing the campaigns and maps/strikes hurts, but, allows for greater room to grow later.
    • Luke Smith is not to blame for every single issue with the game. I don't know why it's such a prevalent opinion, but while he's a game director, there is an entire staff of individuals who do, in fact, exist, and develop the game. While he likely has some serious creative pull being the game's director, there are other people who exist who can make mistakes besides Luke Smith. Calling for him to lose his job or other cruel things because something is wrong (to you, or literally bugged) in the game is childish. Luke was game director during the Taken King expansion, one that everyone praises, as well as the raid director for the Vault of Glass. Assuming that he forces everyone on the team to do what he wants and disallows any kind of creative freedom is not only an incredible assumption, it also demonizes the man for no reason besides to place the blame on one person.
    • There is a significant difference between content creators and the average, or even active player. Content creators who say there's not enough content in the game may literally play the game as a job - their opinion on what is "too little" content should be taken with a grain of salt. If anyone were to play a video game as a job, they would run up dry content-wise blindingly quickly when up-to-date in a live service game like Destiny 2.
    • Free events will, only sometimes, be "worth" doing to some people. Only sometimes will they reward an exotic. Only sometimes will they give you a new thing to dress up your Guardian with. And that's okay. It's okay that a free event for all players doesn't have cutscenes, or exotics, or free godrolls.
    • Community events will never not be grindy and annoying to most people. Having your success be left up to the community is frustrating, especially when goals are set, sometimes, too high. This will happen. It's fine to criticize it because of this, but it's best to roll with it rather than get angry after it's already been dealt with.
    • Sunsetting isn't perfect, needs changes, but is also totally necessary for the health of the game as a whole. Some things sunset too fast and that needs changes. Some things sunset and we don't want to get rid of them because they're very good. But, that is why they need to go - so that different types of weapons can come out and take that place, so that builds change, so that the meta changes. Otherwise, we will be running recluse/mountaintop until the heat death of the universe because it was objectively the best with many kinds of PvE and even PvP content.
    • Assuming that you know how to make a game, and assuming that you have the utilities, and assuming you have the server space, and assuming you have the staff, and assuming you have the money, and assuming you have the time - any game you make will not be for everyone. It's not possible. Bungie is making a game for who they think/hope will be a large audience. It's not specifically for PvP mains. It's not specifically for PvE mains. It's not specifically for Joe down the street. It's for a wide, bursting audience. Not just us, not just me, not just you.
    • Bungie has made serious mistakes in the past, and they will continue to make mistakes. Destiny 2 has had serious mess-ups in the past (i.e. Curse of Osiris, double primaries/D2Y1), but the purpose isn't to get it right the first time, or the next time. There will never be a perfect expansion, or perfect season, or perfect event; there will always be flaws, mistakes, and miscounts.
    • I've been burnt out by Destiny 2 before. I came back, though, because it's a good game and has good content with a (relatively) good playerbase and a good dev team. Sometimes, bad stuff happens.

    Thanks for reading.

Having to use a random 1250 blue because there are no legendary arc scouts in the game feels bad.

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 10:39 AM PST

I realized this while farming the legendary lost sector yesterday, and it made me sad that a perfectly good no feelings that I had sitting in the vault was unusable do to sunsetting.
