october 2019, that is the last time we got a new iron banner set. The level of neglect for IB is completely unacceptable at this point

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 03:49 PM PST

it has been well over two years since we got an actually new set (to say nothing of the near year long gap between weapons that arent just garbage reissues). I understand that a new set every season is a bit unreasonable for IB which is already somewhat of a minority pvp mode due to light advantages putting a lot of newcomers off, but two years is completely and utterly fucking unacceptable.

And the worst part is there is almost zero incentive for newer players to want to even give the mode a try.

I mean, if you already have the two sets on rotation, well GG you basically never have to play iron banner again once transmog comes out. They literally have to bribe people who dont normally do IB to play at this point because there's nothing new to earn outside of a blue moon, and it's usually just a single gun that has a comparable if not superior Trials/Raid sibling or is just another fucking reissue of the same fucking gear we had at the end of Black Armory.

And that's without saying anything about the matchmaking, IB is infamous for getting stacked against by people who play the game 24/7 or who ask for people who do to pop in while providing zero grouped people on your side. So if you aren't screwed in the head like i am and genuinely enjoy the game mode, it can be one of the most agonizing pvp experiences in d2 for a solo player as you get stacked into oblivion.

At this point, i think i'm just going to sit this IB out. As much as i love it, i'm just so fucking tired of pvp getting shafted because dear director is too lazy to do anything with it besides make it a dumping ground for catalyst quests. I mean for god's sake it took them what? a year to release new trials of osiris shit? to say nothing of how long it took them to put some QoL improvements into the rank system for QP and Comp.

Anyways, sorry for the rant just getting a tiny bit fed up with staple modes like IB, Trials, Strikes, and Gambit getting hosed because dear director wants to just have us all pay attention to the shallow shiny new thing that barely has any content once it's all released, while demanding that we participate in the same endless 3 core activities that never change and rarely receive any real work.

Enemies have been teleporting since last season and this season it got worse. Is bungie aware of this problem?

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 05:59 AM PST

I have had gambit bosses be infornt of me while im shooting them then second later behind me and slam me into a wall. Strikes its just as worse. And its definitely not lag. Is bungie aware? Ive seen others report such similar issues but yet to see a confirmation that its a known issue.

Tier 3 focusing can only be done 3 times a week AND costs 5 charges. This needs to change.

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 08:33 AM PST

The whole point of Umbrals is to use umbral focusing. That's what sets them apart from regular legendary engrams.

So why is the highest Tier of focusing, which takes by far the longest to grind for, capped at 3 uses per week? That's just absurd. You go to the greatest length possible to get the loot you want, only to be slapped in the face with a weekly time gate which contradicts the purpose of Umbrals.

I would understand the reason for the limit if you could Focus umbrals to guarantee a specific piece of gear, but Tier 3 umbrals only have a 50/50 chance of dropping the gear you want, so on top of the weekly limit, you're not even guaranteed to get the gear you grinded for, let alone a good roll.

The limit needs to be removed.

Remove the Accuracy Debuff when getting Slowed by Stasis

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 09:25 AM PST

Stasis is a super good crowd control ability.

However, it is way too strong. The thing with crowd control items like Flashbangs and Stun Grenades in a game like Call of Duty is that you have a chance to fight back. Yeah you can't see for shit but you can hold the trigger at a certain angle angle and still hit your shots, possibly even killing the enemy that stunned you.

In Destiny 2, getting slowed gives you these effects:

-Reduce Movement Speed -Reduce Ability Regeneration -Suppresses Movement abilities (Icarus Dash and Dodge) -Reduces Weapon Stats like: -ADS Time -ADS Move Speed -Weapon Kick Direction -Weapon Accuracy -Weapon Reload Speed

Credit to CoolGuy on YouTube for finding out what "Slow" actually does to a Guardian: https://youtu.be/ZNvm4jDsoNE

That's a LOT of debuffs for getting slowed even when you did everything right but since a Hunter threw a shuriken and it bounced off 3 walls, Zavala's bald head and Calu's stomach, the weapon landed and you get slowed.

Not to mention that Hunters slow enemies when they SIMPLY DODGE!! If a Hunter has Max Mobility, he'll be able to dodge every 12 seconds. Pair that with Mask of Bakris and now the dodge is so incredibly strong that they travel further and cannot get hit when dodging. So a lucky shuriken hit and dodging now gets you frozen? That sounds pretty damn busted, not to mention the shuriken does a base 90 damage per hit so you already are going to die.

I don't mind Hunter dodge but pairing that with the ability to slow makes them so aggravating to fight. You can do everything right to get a upper hand in a gunfight and all the Hunter has to do is simply dodge and now you are at a severe disadvantage and they can finish you. If they have Bakris they can go further away and finish you off from a distance. With the accuracy debuff, it feels like the game is actively telling you to just give up.

In Overwatch, Mei has this ice beam that can freeze you in close range, it's annoying sure but you can actually fight back if you're quick enough. Getting slowed in Overwatch only nerfs the movement speed, so you can turn, and if the Mei is low on health, you can punish them for trying to freeze you.

In Destiny 2, if I get slowed because some Hunter pressed O twice, I might as well just not fight because any weapon I'll shoot at them will just whiff. You should still be able to keep your accuracy if you are getting slowed, movement is a huge thing in Destiny and if I get taken from me, the least I wanna be able to do is at least hit my shots. It turns the game into "ability centric" focus. Abilities should be able to help you but if can absolutely nerf your enemy by the press of a button so they can't hit you, then why fight?

-signed an annoyed Gunslinger getting slowed and missing all his shots because some Hunter with Felwinter's decided to dodge and nerf my accuracy.

TLDR: Remove the Accuracy Debuff from getting Slowed by Stasis, it's annoying to fight against and there's no counter to being slowed.

EDIT: I wanna mention that this might not fix all of the stasis problems but the ability to put up a fight and hit my shots when I'm aiming at my enemy can go a long way.

EDIT #2: Not trying to bash Bakris here. This post is more aimed towards the effects of being slowed by duskfield grenades and other stasis abilities that slow the player. I was also informed that you can infact hit the Bakris player in Lightshift AND Icarus Dash still works in some scenarios of being slowed so thank you for clarifying

I really enjoyed listening to Caiatl and Osiris talk through this week's Presage, not trading (many) insults, but sharing knowledge and experience. We seldom get to be a fly on the wall when it comes to discussions between both sides.

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 05:10 PM PST

I just thought it was a nice change of pace for the big bad to not be this single-minded, fully-evil entity, but instead someone who is coming across much more human, well, Cabal.

Hats off to Bungie for really fleshing out Caiatl and ingratiating her into so much of the content so far.

If bungie wants us to do 9 battlegrounds a week, can we at least get some ghost mods like those for the other activities?

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 09:04 AM PST

With only 3 maps the battlegrounds can get a tad tedious after a few weeks but add in a couple upgrade modules, extra loot drops, or dare I say.. prisms would make it a lot more worth the time. It would also give pinnacle level players a reason to still play battlegrounds.

But then again perhaps the strike ones already work with bg and I'm just an idiot but afaik they don't...

One week ago, the Presage mission was said to be almost as good as or even similarly enjoyable as Whisper and Zero Hour

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 05:35 PM PST

Now that it introduce a harder version with a timer, suddenly it's a terrible mission and people are already hating on it without even trying it.

A timer that was in BOTH of the missions which most people say Presage is similar to.

Just goes to show how much nostalgia has an affect on reminiscing.

[EPILEPSY WARNING] If you suffer from photosensitive epilepsy, you might want to avoid Crux Convergence public events until Bungie fixes whatever is happening in this video

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 06:56 AM PST

Would be cool to craft our own gun one day the way Katabasis did with Dead Man’s Tale.

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 02:21 PM PST

I mean our guardian is essentially a sentient gun. Character customization is really just gun customization.

Our custom gun wouldn't be exotic like DMT (unless Bungie could figure out a balanced perk). Just a legendary primary to call our own.

Pick your: - Foundry (cosmetic) - Weapon type - Weapon model (cosmetic) - Frame - Barrel/scope - Magazine

Perks, element, masterwork stat and even the name would also be customizable, but indirectly.

You'd get a quest from the foundry to collect a series of parts. Your sources and combinations of those parts at each step of the quest would determine the perks. The weapon used to acquire the parts would determine the resulting damage type and masterwork stat. The name would be a product of all combined (more later).

For example, Fallen and Cabal may both provide the parts you need, but how many you get from each race would determine the perks. Killing them predominantly with long range Arc guns would yield parts appropriate for an Arc energy weapon with a range masterwork.

This would make customization option discovery a community effort, similar to cookie baking during The Dawning. And even if the meta bubbled up the exact "best" weapon configurations that everyone would be going for, there would still be a layer of personal customization to each weapon that comes from the cosmetic choices (foundry, model, name). Someone else may have the same gun with the same perks, but yours might look completely different. I think that would be neat.

It's like light saber building, but for guns! Who doesn't want to make their own Solar 120RPM Hand Cannon?

    ——

To keep these crafted guns feeling special (instead of the latest pool to farm for endless quantities), there could be a limit to how many you can create. Maybe they require a "weapon core", and you can only acquire one core from each foundry. After your weapon is crafted, if you're unsatisfied with the result, you run the quest again for new parts and instead consume your old gun in the creation of the new one. This would also yield additional customization options.

When using an exiting weapon as the base, you would be able to see which aspects are going to be different in the new gun. Notably, not what the result will be (which is still hidden), just whether or not something is changing. You could then select one aspect of the base weapon to keep in the new one (perk, damage type, masterwork, name).

This system of weapon inheritance would be the only way to attain certain combinations. A Kinetic SMG with Triple Tap and Vorpal might be impossible unless you're building off a base SMG with Vorpal, because the parts required for Triple Tap might otherwise be incompatible. Iterative weapons!

    ——

So where does this leave weapon naming? Is it just a lost cause, out leagued by perk prioritization? Not entirely. It's true that at first everyone will be focused on building their weapons with functionality in mind, leaving the name to fall where it may. But naming is the true endgame here.

While you were building these weapons, you were leveling up your standing with each foundry. Rank ups reward reprised gear from each foundry (whoops I've created season of the foundries). But they also reward Blueprint slots. A blueprint lets you permanently stash a weapon configuration once you've made it. Love that Kinetic SMG with Triple T and Vorpal, but wanna keep trying out new weapons? Save it into a Blueprint.

Saving a Blueprint destroys the weapon and returns the core. But from then on, you can recreate that exact weapon at any time, using any parts. This means, you guessed it, it's time to go nuts on the name. Source the parts in whatever manner gets you your desired name, then recreate the weapon from its Blueprint, and you've got yourself a fully customized weapon.

Gee, Blueprints kind of sound like a customizable Collections, huh? ;)

    ——

Now, I've been intentionally ambiguous on how exactly name customization would look, and that's partially because I think this is the least likely aspect of this whole idea that Bungie would implement. But if they did do it, I think there would need to be some limitations.

Obviously, the names would have to come from a set pool of words to combine. Nothing custom (duh). Beyond that, I think these guns would need some sort of symbol prefix or suffix to identify them in PvP, because obviously kill feeds would be insanely confusing otherwise.

That aside, I think it would work much like perk customizations. There would be two name positions, the way you source parts would determine what appears in either position, and certain combinations would be impossible on first pass. Just like with perks, you may need to make a base gun with one name that you want then choose to keep that name position when building from that base gun for the second name (yes, you could still use a blueprint while consuming a base gun, which is nice if you ever want to tweak your god roll).

Now, once you have that perfect name, you're probably not going to want to let go of it. Blueprints don't save names. This is where more of the intended permanence of these crafted weapons comes in. You're encouraged to play around to find what you like, but once you do, it's decision time. Which gun will be your namesake?

You could of course still destroy it in favor of a new weapon at any time, but you're going to lose the name and the kill tracker. Tough decision, but maybe a new season's balance pass makes another weapon/perk combo better!

    ——

Okay this got way longer than I originally intended. But I got way deep into it and loved where it was headed.

Honestly though, this kind of idea could go a lot of different directions. What would you all like to see in a weapon crafting system?

Celerity and bottomless grief should be intrinsic on adept weapons (for the respective activities)

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 04:54 AM PST

It's quite disheartening for people who struggle to go flawless to get celerity on a weapon, and the same for people who may struggle to do GMs later this season. It makes sense seeing as adept weapons in d1 had intrinsic perks such as last resort or snapshot (y2 and y3)

    Prophecy Dungeon - F2P

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 05:51 AM PST

Just got D2 like a week ago, hit 1250 Light Level and was looking to do objectives that gave me powerful gear. Saw this prophecy dungeon had a weekly quest or something so I loaded in blind. Didn't understand the concept, couldn't figure out for the longest time how to get them to drop the right colored motes, felt like an idiot when I finally figured it out. Made it to the first boss guy and was just getting absolutely creamed. Kept wondering how the recommended light level was 1100, hah, finally got on the app and found a group who took me through it and man what a crazy dungeon and experience. One of the best visual experiences I've ever had in a game. Guy in party invited me to his discord to explain then last fight and was laughing at me that I had tried to solo it blind as a new player. Place was absolutely wild. Loved every second of it. Must've fell off that mario cart rainbow road thing like 5 times while the other two guys were just laughing at me. :'D also apparently I need to get an Anarchy.

Focused Feedback and Bungie Plz threads are one sided discussions that only serve to silence feedback and discussion.

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 10:01 AM PST

I doubt Bungie ever reads any of these posts and once each of the posts gets its time in the spotlight, the discussions die.

I rarely see any follow up posts or continued discussion afterwards.

Great ideas or important discussions shouldn't be crammed into a single thread, it should be continued to be discussed as the community desires. The more something is repeated, the more likely it will be noticed. Isn't that the goal?

Someone, please remind me again why has Bungie removed two Gambit maps?

    Posted: 23 Feb 2021 07:11 AM PST

I was farming the hand cannon bottom dollar in the gambit playlist. After dozens of matches, I ended up with three bad rolled bottom dollars. The drop rate is abysmal.

Anyway, it seemed like 4 out of 5 times the map was the one in titan. And I was wondering why has bungie removed the dreaming city and tangled shore maps.

It can't be for "lore" reasons since the titan map is still there. And don't think those maps were worse than the ones that remain. Why remove content from something that has already so little?

Same for pvp maps. Emperor's respite may suck in control. But it could work in rumble. Or clash.

It's sad how the "core" playlists get so little love from bungie.
