    Focused Feedback: Recoil Adjustment

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 07:03 AM PST

    Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Recoil Adjustment' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

Being inside a well of radiance should make you more resistant to the effects of Stasis

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 06:38 AM PST

Title. I love playing healing warlock but sadly it's just not a very viable PvP play-style. There's nothing the class can really do in PvP that other play styles can't. Why do Well of radiance when you can do a bubble titan, they have a more viable ability that has more versatility. This is something that I feel is an issue with Warlock rift already. Other classes have ways to easily block off incoming damage, either with a wall or dodging around a corner. The same goes for Well of Radiance, it's nice to get the over shield and empowering but you can still just easily be one tapped immediately after casting the super. Adding more versatility and use to current abilities would help diversify the player-base and playstyles. I feel like giving Well of Radiance a resistance against stasis would help bolster that play style, especially in a stasis centered meta. It also makes sense if you think about the actual mechanics of what Dawnblade is. You shove you FLAMING sword into the ground and it's energy is released in an area around it, healing and empowering you. I think that the radial heat from a flaming sword would help melt the cosmic ice from stasis.

[Edit]- I just want to add something that I said in the comments that I wanted to add. Stasis was implemented partly as a way to punish risky and overly aggressive play. It makes no sense for it to be more effective against a super that's all about careful and cautious play than aggressive roaming supers.

Any other ideas in the comics would be greatly appreciated.

This Week at Not Bungie - 2/1/2021 - AI Learning, Autocomplete-Generated TWAB

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 08:00 AM PST

You might know how this goes by now. I run a few TWAB articles into the Botnik predictive writer, which can generate sentences in an autocomplete fashion based on what you feed it.

Not Bungie has a website! All articles that have already seen their time on Reddit can be read over on https://notbungie.net/

THIS WEEK AT NOT BUNGIE - 2/1/2021

This Week at Not Bungie, please see this official Destiny inspired shirt.

Welcome to the second loop of dunking all four feathers on players in their first trip through backend data. Crow has found a new reward called Prismatic Memories that you will help alleviate from each artist. Ongoing maintenance is expected to conclude in 2013. More information on Season of Heresy will roll on perks that are unavailable from drops.

Issues may only be acquired when players on Playstation complete strikes in the shattered replica of your big novelty Hawkmoon. Prior to anything on Tuesday, players who observe roaming supers can log back into Destiny 2 on Twitter after verification from Halo 2. This will be taken offline permanently after death. Please see another platform for your Umbral Engrams.

    Introducing: Seasonal Legibility

Over the last week, we've been working on Halo 3. Everything shakes out of Crow in Season of Your Rank. We wanted to take some FOMO and vaporize your vault. Destiny 2 will grow to 258,049 total power next week with updates to the vendor progression pool. Zavala joked about lightning on Shaxx's icon and we're going to keep responding up to the second TWAB of February. This will need to download the full tower for Taniks to take your batteries for a short time.

For Season of Crossplay, we had several goals in order to access the FOMO hunts.

    • Provide you all hell legendaries.

    • Issues fixed with stasis abilities.

    • 120hz Servitor mods.

    • 19 drink minimum.

    • Players push players into hellfire.

    • dmg04 with more talent.

To solve these changes, we continue investigating adding Hawkmoon to Halo 2. Everything shakes when we made these changes. Some great new rewards are currently missing out on PC. Hand cannons will drop from your hands when they already have 6,000 kills. Some weapons now fire players through the seasonal content. We recommend quitting out of Crucible matches when players activate supers.

    Stylish Magic

In February, please see another player. We can't send you more invites. Some of our employees will be spending time with your accounts. Give your ears to the Drifter. Penumbral blast mods were duplicating too much, so we have to thank our Blackburn for deleting Crucible. Here to talk about how we don't want to make more motes than you is Senior Cookie Protrusion, Tyson Maintenance.

Tyson: Over the next few years, we are currently longer than before. Everyone who contributed to the Deep Stone Timer was occasionally too small. If you haven't jumped in the boss phone cinematics, try loading correctly. These are the big commitments we're excited to make.

    • Every week, for the first 10 seasons of Halo merchandise, we weighted your Bright Dust to take a ride down the rainbow road.

    • Some challenges now award 450k Titan grenades.

    • Players can now pull out bones from frozen Hunters.

    • Completing strikes will now impact earnable shaders for poorly assembled Warlocks.

    • This is the fifth thing.

    • Challenges now award destination feedback.

    • Bounties now drop FOMO couch dust.

    • dmg04 increased to make sure you've had fun.

    • Cozmo increased to 42,676,699hz.

    • Crucible matches adjusted to 24 seconds.

    • Gambit matches adjusted to 2-week campaign quests that last 1700 hours.

    • Raid rewards now award player heads.

    • Bungie now grants seasonal content every three months.

    • Strikes now award possible details on future update issues.

    • Issues now award strike rewards and 7,156,651 bright dust.

    • Bright Dust now awards inconsistently exciting things.

    • Players now award video content.

    • The Tower now awards Twitter content.

Thanks for the incoming update pile!

    Next-Gen, Next Year

We are developing a fix for the new version of Destiny 3 on next-gen consoles. Expect new newly created news for the game gameplay on Xbox 5 and Playstation Series X|S. We will find you when it isn't time.

    Movie of Customizable Deaths

GameStop is intentional. Reduced your montages. Not being awarded after defeating enemies is intentional. These are continuing to leverage our technology for your entertainment.

Movie of the Visual Effects: Menu Sharing for Wrong Snipers

Honorable Subtitles: Allow Players to Reacquire Players

Check your creation phone for emblems. We won't spend too much time on your accounts.

Another week, another appearance of Bungie employees. Stay tuned and away for season pass pool distance news. This year of new guardians will sometimes go into the Crucible and provide montages for top players. Additionally, we are listening to feedback on Halo 3 on Twitter. We don't want to. Thank you and your very low expectations. Until next year.

    <3 Not Cozmo

Thematically, Vortex grenades should have Duskfield's suck in effect except weaker. It's literally in the name.

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 12:18 PM PST

The title summarizes my thoughts. I think Bungie should be a bit more consistent with subclass themes in the future. In case of grenades, it's kind of simple really:

    • Void is loosely gravity-based with abilities that suck-in or suppress enemies.
      • Vortex and "Magnetic" Grenades pull nearby enemies in a fixed distance.
      • Supressor, Spike, and Axion Bolt grenades should suppress for a duration based on the strength of the grenade.
      • Magnetic Grenades should be renamed Singularity grenades.
    • Solar is based on strong nuclear forces with abilities that ignite/burn enemies.
      • Solar and Incendiary grenades apply a burn effect.
    • Arc is electricity-based with abilities that chain dmg or blind.
      • Blinding, Flux, and Storm Grenades should apply a blind based on the strength of the grenade.
      • Arcbolt, and Lightning grenades should chain damage.
    • Stasis is an ice-based class. It should affect weapon haste, ability regen and movement speed, but not weapon accuracy. There are few things worse than missing a shot despite perfect aim.
      • Duskfield should deny an area but not suck-in or suppress.
      • Coldsnap should briefly interrupt, by slowing on contact then freezing after brief delay (1.5-2s).
      • Glacial Grenades should not freeze enemies. They deny area, offer mobility and vantage points, and can deal damage when combo'd with other abilities.

Please Bungie, respect the time you spent developing on content by not power creeping the heck out of them with your new content. Actually listen to your community when they tell you what they don't like.

I applaud Bungie for taking the time to add bounty acquisition to the Companion App only two months before bounties get highly de-emphasized

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 07:37 AM PST

They waited this long to add the feature, so they could've easily gone "look, we're gonna essentially trivialize bounties in two months, just hang in there for a little longer".

I suspect people mostly wanted the ability to acquire their weeklies from orbit, and maybe dailies if you're after the powerful engram. I don't see myself using this Companion App bounty feature anymore since I don't grind powerfuls/XP rigorously and got my weekly bounties because of their Bright Dust value only (and maybe some repeatables for extra BD and finish out that 8/8 challenge if I'm feeling like it).

Anyway, interesting timing I found this to be.

(Edit: I don't get why many if you think I was complaining in this post. In the title I start by praising Bungie's hard work.)

Destiny 2 Content Creators as Destiny Characters #1: MyNameIsByf

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 05:45 PM PST

    Name: Sir Byford

    Class: Warlock

    Subclass: Dawnblade/Sunsinger

Biography: Sir Byford is a well-known scholar from the dark ages. While being one of the early lightbearers, he never actively maintained a territory, instead choosing to collect and create a massive library somewhere in Europe. He spent most of his time collecting old books from before the collapse as well as researching just about anything. The information in his library was incredibly helpful in designing and constructing the Last City. He continues his work in the city, having constructed a new library accessible to any who wish to research. Despite being quite famous, not much is known about him. He has been seen interacting with Hambone the Barbarian and others on occasion.

This is kind of just an idea I had that I wanted to share. I might make more, please recommend other content creators to do as well as ideas for those content creators.

What if it turns out that the seasonal activity next season is a 6-man matchmade horde mode in a Cabal gladiator pit?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 07:51 PM PST

Filled with regular and Wrathborn Fallen, Hive, and Cabal enemies, and they come in waves. This would continue the plot of last season perfectly, and it would give the players what they want. Also, I have a feeling the seasonal vendor will be Osiris himself, given he was in the cutscene with Zavala and the Cabal, and it wouldn't make sense that Zavala is the seasonal vendor in addition to the Vanguard vendor.

It's cool how the Overload Captain in Concealed Void gets to decide if he gets to shoot/move while OL stunned or not.

Like, c'mon, at least have the enemies pretend to follow the rules of what they are and aren't allowed to do. Sick of getting murdered by this asshat moments after he goes into the Overload stun animation (while still in it, mind you!) or having him teleport off the instant I stun him.

I don't think anyone is angry that stasis is overpowered in PvP. We are annoyed at the mechanics of stasis killing player agency in PvP and because its overpowered, its so so much worse.

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 06:46 AM PST

Basically, I remember when forsaken came out. Some people were annoyed at how strong novawarp and spectral were. It didn't feel the same way as stasis feels in the crucible. New abilities and mechanics should be overpowered for a little bit so everyone can enjoy them. The problem is that dying to a really strong super doesn't feel the same way as being frozen by a melee, grenade, or super and having to stop completely before you are put out of your misery. I just hope the next darkness subclasses don't introduce more mechanics that completely ruin the rhythm of gameplay.

Why on earth would the class item ever be the flawless loot? - Can this be changed in future?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 10:35 AM PST

Literally anything else would have some use, a shot at an adept rolled weapon, some high stat armour rolls.

But like, a class item is actually THE most useless thing I can think of. It doesn't even "roll" it just comes as is, just like when you earn it at 3, or 5 wins.

The grind is real getting flawless in the state of trials at the moment, so as you can imagine my mind was blown when I went flawless this week.

Anyway, Bungie I like your game! This is just a suggestion:

Remove class items from the flawless loot pool, or throw them in for free with something else.

You know, if Bonus Power stretched a full year, it might accomplish all of Bungie’s goals without murdering us with seasonal grind.

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 04:41 PM PST

We'd have a full year to accrue "unlimited" power. There could still be diminishing returns that would make going above the seasonal +20 threshold increasingly slow, but those caps could be raised each season in lieu of a big gear grind and bonus power reset.

New content would still scale up seasonally, but players who go hard in the expansion season would have a head start in the next and wouldn't have to grind as much (or at all) — time would not be taken away from them. Likewise, new players could have a catch up mechanic until they reach the expected starting power for a season. But there would be no more (big) seasonal power cap increases. It's all bonus power until the next expansion.

Power level is mostly an arbitrary gatekeeper of content anyway, right? Increasing the cap seasonally does nothing for gameplay; if old content gets easier, it's maxed out after one season due to the game's scaling rules. Raising bonus power without raising gear cap would actually have a really interesting effect on difficulty scaling though.

Gear power can individually impact the efficacy of a piece of gear. For example, if your overall power level is above the recommended for an activity, but one of your guns is under that power level, that gun will still do less damage. Your overall power level, which comes from both gear power and bonus power, is necessary, but not sufficient, to maximize your activity effectiveness — you still need individual gear power. But this is largely an afterthought right now since gear power has been raised every season since bonus power was introduced.

If gear cap isn't raised, but bonus power keeps going up, content released through the expansion-year will keep getting further away from our gear cap, making later year content progressively more difficult even as our bonus power increases to match it.

I think this would be super cool for a number of reasons, not least being that it would make power feel more tangible and less arbitrary. Difficulty is already scaled up each season to match the new power cap, but once we get there nothing has changed. Now it would change. It'd still be difficult. And increasingly so. Our enemies are growing stronger all year, and we can't keep up!

Then, when the next expansion hits and gear power cap is raised significantly, the prior year content finally becomes easier. We actually feel like we got more powerful! But since bonus power was reset too, the difficulty scaling still remains; the prior season's content is still harder than that from 3 prior (provided the new gear cap isn't +200, which it wouldn't need to be anymore with year-long bonus power).

Anyway, this is just something I was thinking about today with the grind rearing it's ugly head again in a week. The sentiment against large seasonal power cap increases feels like it has been growing, but I haven't seen much discussion around what a better solution could be, other than "stop it". Year-long bonus seemed like an option, and one which had some interesting side effects I didn't even anticipate.

But let me know if anyone has better ideas!

    —— Addendum: Sunsetting

It'd be nice if it went away, but it's probably not, so it's at least worth mentioning.

Since gear is currently locked to a seasonal max power cap, gear power would still need to increase at least a little seasonally to allow for sunsetting to continue to work as it does currently. So be it. Gear power cap can increase 10 each season in between expansions.

This is probably good anyway. A little bit of power grind is fine I think. And a slightly higher number keeps the gap between gear power and content difficulty from completely running away by the end of an expansion-year.

Bungie, please. Let us Titans be able to turn off the Icefall Mantle overshield.

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 02:52 PM PST

There's no reason to not be able to turn the overshield off and be able to sprint/float again.

An overshield is great. But if I can't run for 20 seconds it makes me a sitting duck in Crucible, and makes me fall behind in Strikes and Gambit. I really want to like this armor piece, but right now it's just a pain in the ass to use.

Again, I'm not asking to be able to sprint/double jump while the overshield is activated. I'm simply asking to be able to turn the overshield off early if I need to. Most times, I don't need it for the whole duration and just end up walking slowly like an idiot for no reason. Especially since the 20 seconds resets whenever I take damage.

An idea for a Rocket Launcher build for Warlocks next season with some pretty good sustained DPS.

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 03:32 PM PST

So I did some calculations of a Warlock Only Rocket Launcher build that I have in the works, and the sustained DPS next season actually looks very promising, especially for bosses where Shotty swapping or using swords isn't viable. This'll be sort of a long writeup.

First, I'll tell you the build, and then I'll explain every component. I tested it on an Immune Morgeth in Last Wish, since every component of the build works fine here and I don't have to worry about surviving or anything like that, as well as raid banners for repeated test runs. Here's a shitty, basic video of the build in action. Please ignore the stuttering audio, lol. I don't have the Witherhoard catalyst, and my swaps were scuffed at one point, so the optimal time to do all of this is a little bit faster than what you may see in the video.

Subclass: Well of Radiance, Fusion Grenades.

    Weapons:

    Kinetic: Witherhoard with Catalyst.

Energy: Any special weapon you can quickly swap to works here. I used Deafening Whisper with Autoloading Holster.

Heavy: A rocket launcher with Demolitionist, Cluster Bombs, Impact Casing and Boss Spec. (Currently sunset Heretic has this as a possible roll, and I'm banking on the recycled one next season to have this roll available as well.)

    Armor and Mods:

    • Starfire Protocol, Exotic Warlock chest piece. I'll explain why in a moment.

    • GL and Rocket Dexterity on Arms to minimize swap speed

    • Double Rocket reserves on Chest to bring reserves to 9

    • 100 Discipline

    • Argent Ordnance, if you'd like, to improve rocket damage even more.

    Explanation:

This build utilizes three basic concepts.

1.) Starfire Protocol. This Exotic chestpiece gives you an extra fusion grenade, and also provides the sweet bonus of giving back ticks of grenade energy when you do weapon damage while empowered. Empowerment, in this case, occurs within our Well of Radiance. However, it also works with an Empowering Rift, your Empowering melee ability, or even other empowering effects such as Lumina's Noble Rounds.

2.) Witherhoard. We keep a Witherhoard blight ticking on the boss at all times to make sure we're maximizing the grenade energy Starfire is giving back to us. It takes around five witherhoard ticks to return a full nade, but doing damage with our other weapons helps recharge it too. We want the catalyst to ensure we never have to reload it and lose valuable DPS time.

3.) Demolitionist Rocket Launcher. The main damage dealer in this build is this. We take advantage of getting constant grenades from the Starfire-Wither combo, and utilize Demolitionist reloading the weapon when throwing a grenade, and send forth a volley of of Rocket, Nade, Rocket, Nade, Rocket, Nade, Rocket. Be sure to have Impact Casing, Boss Spec and Cluster Bombs handy to maximize damage output. I didn't have cluster, but the average increase in damage per rocket is around 6.6% so I just added it on top of the Rocket damage values. I also would like to try one with Field Prep for even more reserves, but I don't have a roll with that combo.

So, with all this combined, here is a general rundown of what I do. Nade, Well, Witherhoard, Deafening, 3x each of Rocket and Nade, Deafening, Witherhoard, 3x Rocket and Nade again, Deafening, Witherhoard, one more volley of 3x Rocket and Nade, and finish with a Deafening and a final nade.

This entire sequence took me 31.8 seconds, but since my Witherhoard isn't masterworked, so I had to actually reload it, and that I had a bit of a weapon swap slipup halfway through, I estimate that, subtracting timeloss, this would take around 27.0 seconds.

With all of this added up, I get 867,303 damage. Adding in the 20% damage bonus from Well, it becomes 996,352 (Nade damage isn't affected by Well). Finally, adding in the 1.3x damage buff rockets will get next season, and our total damage output here becomes 1,169,955 damage in 27 seconds, which is 43,331 DPS. You can see the potential here. And on top of this, there are other legendary special weapons in the energy slot that do more damage than Deafening, such as FILO, so your options are actually pretty wide in that slot.

And keep in mind, this is a completely solo build here. If you run this with teammates, giving you a Weapons of Light and also a Tractor Cannon debuff, I calculated this to be 1,674,974 total damage, or 62,000 DPS over 27 seconds, as long as your titan friend keeps Tractor up and you dip into his Bubble at the right time.

I haven't tested with Argent Ordnance, since I don't have the mod (Curse you Banshee), but I have actually heard it's bugged to buff Witherhoard damage on top of the Rocket damage buff, so I think this could be really strong as a solo player if you stack Argent mods with something like Supercharged. With 3x Argent, Supercharged and Taking Charge giving you 4 extra damage rockets and some extra damage Witherhoard ticks, this could bump up DPS to around 48,000. With a better option in the Energy slot, this could easily hit 50,000 through the entire 27 second span.

I hope this guide gave all you Warlocks inspiration to make a full build revolving around this mechanic. It's a lot of fun, and hopefully Bungie keeps those perks available on next season's Heretic. I have no doubts that existing metas such as shotty swapping will continue to dominate. However, this build might have some more viability for a solo player without a Divinity bubble to hit, or even on bosses where you'd like to keep your distance.

    Buy catalyst with exotic cipher

Please add this option to the monument to lost light, I have all the exotics but not all the catalyst because the catalyst drop rates is abysmally low. This reduces the RNG to obtain catalyst

Please add more ways to earn CWL and Warmind mods

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 03:21 PM PST

As a new player,, the biggest FOMO for me right now is mods. If banshee is the only way you want us to have access to CWL and Warmind mods, at least make those mods the only ones he sells. There are plenty sources already in the game to get all other mods but waiting months or possibly longer to acquire the CWL and Warmind mods you need for specific builds is too tedious. At the rate I'm getting these mods, they will be irrelevant before I even get the chance to use most of them. I am done with all campaigns and would like to take on more end game content but I either always feel like I am holding my fireteam back, not having the correct setup to play to my full potential, or am called a scrub because I don't have lucent blade or stacks on stacks, etc.. Please change this and give us newer and returning guardians a chance to play with these mods before they are gone.
