    One Exile to Another

"I wish I still had the bottle from that Warlock. I've never been drunk before—that I recall, anyway." Crow scuffed his feet, leaving wide trails amidst the dry pine needles on the forest floor.

"You can drink all the ethanol you like once we're in the Last City!" Glint chirped. "I'm sure it's readily available there." He whirred quietly, cross-referencing all mentions of alcohol in his database. "Hmm. On second thought, I advise caution."

    Crow snorted. "You usually do."

The new Guardian and his Ghost watched the sun set over the rugged tree line of the EDZ. In the pine-scented stillness, Crow was suddenly anxious. He imagined the great throngs of people in the City. Hundreds of thousands of people. So many people, all armed with the secret of his forgotten past. If they learned what Crow himself didn't know, what would they—

"What else do you want to try?" Glint's tone was light, but his shell flaps were furrowed in concern. "We deserve to celebrate. We can do anything you want, as long as—"

"I know, Glint. I know. 'As long as nobody sees your face.'" Crow imitated the chipper digital voice of his Ghost, and then smiled ruefully. "I wouldn't even know where to start. Food, maybe? I'm tired of everything tasting like gun oil and Ether."

"I know just the place." A deep, languid voice floated out of the forest behind them.

Crow whirled, hand on his Sidearm, ready to draw. He relaxed as the grizzled Warlock, Osiris, stepped forward from the shade of the pine trees.

"It's called the Drunken Noodle." Osiris's normally dour tone bordered on levity. "Order the Long-Boy Special. It's delicious."

"I've seen pictures of noodles," Crow said doubtfully. "They look like worms."

Osiris smiled beneath his cowl. "We need to talk about how you're going to get into the City. Our first priority is getting you some new clothes."

Crow looked down at the sigil of the Spider emblazoned across his chest. "Probably a good idea."

"I have new gear for you aboard my ship." Osiris beckoned the pair back into the forest. "You can change while we wait for nightfall."

As Crow followed in the Warlock's footsteps, he once again imagined the crush of the Last City. He could feel the weight of humanity pressing in around him. The mass of flesh and accusing eyes. The looming walls closing in around him...

Crow's rumination was broken as they stepped from the trees into a clearing with a beat-up jumpship parked in the center.

Osiris paused at the foot of the loading ramp and turned to face Crow. "There will come a time when your identity, your past, can no longer stay hidden."

Crow felt a tightness in his chest as he imagined the whole City, all of humanity, staring at him.

"And when that time comes," the Warlock continued, "remember this moment. One exile to another. You can trust me."

They clasped hands, and for a fleeting moment, Crow wondered if he might find acceptance after all.

    Sunsetting has ruined my marriage.

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 09:53 AM PST

Basically title. When my wife found out that Bungie is allowed to sunset weapons and armor, she thought about adopting the same idea. She told me I have one more Destiny season before she finds someone else to replace me. So if any of you have any extra spare rooms I can grind out my season pass in, I would appreciate it.

I [still] have synesthesia. I painted "Journey" for ya'll. :)

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 05:32 AM PST

Since a whole lot of you requested Journey: Here you go. <3

Original thread, which was a synesthesia painting of Deep Stone Lullaby.

Since posting the last one, I found out that /r/DestinyCreations exists, so I'll be putting any other synesthesia paintings over there as to not clutter this subreddit. :)

What is synesthesia and how does yours work?: Please see-> FAQ answers from last thread.

Thank you. See you starside. <3

Edit: Yes, you can suggest songs! I'm making a list of suggestions. No, I don't have an Etsy or prints available yet but I'm working on it. <3

Getting some sleep, will be back in a bit. <3 Skelly voice: "I live again, boyo!"

Edit 2: Regicide and Athanasia are the two most requested songs, so I'll be doing those next, but it may be a little longer than 2 days. I've tried to reply to everyone here in the comments section that had a specific question, but I can't thank ya'll enough for all of your kind words. <3 This community can be really lovely. Thank you. <3333

Bungie: We Respectfully Request Information about Ikora and Gina Torres, Please

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 10:41 AM PST

    Hi Bungie,

It has been too long since we've had meaningful engagement from Ikora in the storyline. She has been in lore, mentioned in the in-game text, and in other story items released... but not in the game in any meaningful way. No quests, no cutscenes, no voice-overs, no bounties, etc.

I am of the opinion that leveling with us (as players) about Gina just not being available or being too expensive, or has been impacted by the pandemic in a way that Lance has not. Whatever the case may be, it would be really helpful to us to set appropriate expectations regarding her involvement going forward.

I love Ikora and love Gina as Ikora, but maybe it's time to move her story forward to an end or recast her so we can get Zavala some help here in the Vanguard. Additionally, the fact that Osiris is in the tower, lost his ghost, actively meeting with Zavala, and Ikora is nowhere to be found is just weird. Or that planets have straight up disappeared from the solar system and she has no comment is also just weird.

Maybe you're planning on her coming back into the game soon? That would be great!

Disappointment might be strong, but just avoiding this topic entirely for the past several seasons has reached the end of being a reasonable go-forward plan.

Please give us some outside-the-game information.

    Thanks!

Bungie - Please, please, please allow console players to opt-out of crossplay and/or make meaningful steps to eliminate cheating

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 03:11 PM PST

Pretty much title, but i'm super worried that PvP will suffer if we're all in the same pool especially if cheating remains as rampant as it is.

The state of crucible atm is already poor for reasons i'm sure you're all aware of (stasis, no new maps or modes), and i feel a mixed pool will be the death of it - for the majority of the player base - without crossplay opt-outs/separate input lobbies and meaningful efforts to eliminate cheaters (like, at least, removing trials and IB from F2P).

PvP is the main reason i log as many hours as i do, and right now the neglect it has been shown almost feels intentional.

Eye of Tomorrow confirmed to have a cumulative drop chance

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 01:32 PM PST

Joe Blackburn from Bungie has confirmed that Eyes of Tomorrow has a cumulative drop chance.

"We get this question a lot. Checked with the team, Eyes of Tomorrow does have a cumulative drop chance-- meaning each week you beat Taniks on your account, the chance of you getting those sweet sweet homing rockets goes up (eventually all the way to 100% if you are super unlucky)"

I think I know why our enemies keep underestimating us despite our list of victories...

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 08:26 PM PST

Caiatl: Recon scout, report. What have you found out about these Guardains?

Recon Scout: They have what could be considered a... champion, your grace. Their list of deeds is insane.

    Caiatl: List these feats.

Scout: Well, the first big thing they are noted for is going into the Black Garden and detroying a ancient evil there. Futhermore, it's implied this action may have been the first step in preventing a dark future, according to my men on Europa.

    Caital: ...Interesting. Continue.

Scout: Then, they managed to defeat the Hive God Crota, destory an entire House of Fallen, then when Oryx showed up to avenge his son's death, he killed him and his court too.

    Caital: ...what.

Scout: We've not even got to the crazy parts yet. This same champion managed to single handedly defeat Ghaul, lead an assault on Calus's Leviathan, THEN they slew a bloody Ahamkama-

Caital: ENOUGH! You've been at the wine while on duty haven't you?

Scout: I swear to you my empress this matches all accurate information we have!

Caital: Next you will be telling me he defeated Xivu Arath, Savathun, and The Literal Darkness SINGLEHANDIDLY IN UNARMED FUCKING COMBAT!

Scout: Well I would not go that far my empress but he did just recently prevent a High Celebrant of Xivu Arath from making a army for the hive god.

    Caital: ...Execute this liar.

Scout: WAIT NO (headshot by psion)

Caital: NOW GO AND FIND ME A SCOUT THAT WILL TELL ME THE TRUTH!

TLDR: Our list of deeds in this universe sounds utterly unbeleivable.

What's up with Trials getting another entirely new armor set but Iron Banner not getting a new set since Undying?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 06:46 AM PST

Iron Banner might be bad right now, but Trials has gotten two sets since in was brought to D2 in Season of the Worthy, and maybe some entirely new weapons/an armor set will motivate people to play Iron Banner. If not new PvP maps or actual balancing so it's not a complete Stasis hellscape.

Not saying, of course, that we shouldn't have gotten new Trials gear. But PvP is just in such a poor state right now and Iron Banner is more accessible than Trials.

Also, the last new Iron Banner weapon was just one, in Season of the Worthy (Point of the Stag).

Pitch Meeting: Season of the Hunt

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 11:29 AM PST

I've been watching a lot of the Screenrant "Pitch Meetings" so I figured I'd do a recap of Season of the Hunt in that style.

Producer: So you've got a new Destiny season for me?

Writer: Yes sir I do, it's called Season of the Hunt.

Producer: Well after Season of Arrivals brought the Darkness to our doorstep, people are really going to want some follow up to find out about what happened and what the next move to take that on will be. And what are those Pyramids up to?

    Writer: Pretty much nothing.

    Producer: Very considerate of them.

Writer: Actually I was thinking we could barely touch on that at all, really just stuff it into the background. Instead we're going to follow Osiris as he takes on the Hive after his ghost, Sagira, is killed.

Producer: Oh, people really liked her in Curse of Osiris, it's going to be pretty big to start the season off with that.

Writer: We're going to do it in a block of text on the website.

Producer: Okay I'm sure that will be just as satisfying.

Writer: Zavala says the Vanguard and the Guardians are all focused on Europa right now, so Osiris asks the Young Wolf for help.

Producer: Wait, but doesn't Zavala expressly say Europa is off limits to other guardians and the only guardian there fighting House Salvation is the Young Wolf.

    Writer: That's right.

Producer: So what is the Vanguard so busy doing on Europa that the only person who can help Osiris with the Hive thing is the Young Wolf?

    Writer: I don't know.

    Producer: Fair enough.

Writer: Osiris is also going to get some help from Uldren Sov

Producer: Wow, going to be really hard for the Young Wolf to work with the guy who killed Cayde-6.

Writer: Actually it's going to be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

    Producer: Oh really?

Writer: Yeah, see Uldren is brought back as a new guardian called Crow. So he doesn't have the guilt and responsibility of the stuff Uldren did. We're also going to be pretty heavy-handedly setting him up as Cayde-6's replacement as the Hunter Vanguard; you know, because of the dare.

Producer: Wait, but wasn't the dare only that any hunter who killed Cayde got the job?

    Writer: Yeah.

Producer: And Uldren not only wasn't a guardian at the time, he wasn't a hunter.

    Writer: Right.

Producer: Not to mention that if we're saying that Crow isn't Uldren anymore, then why would the dare still apply to him? Also isn't he brand new to all of this?

Writer: I'm going to need you to hop off my back about this Crow thing.

Producer: Alright let me get right off of that thing. So what's the conflict with the Hive?

Writer: Well Xivu Arath is corrupting a bunch of Fallen, Hive and Cabal to her side and making a whole army.

Producer: I figured being a Hive God of War she'd already have an army but sure. So the Young Wolf is going to fight Fallen, Hive and Cabal?

Writer: Well not Cabal because they're for next season.

    Producer: Right, of course.

Writer: So the Young Wolf is going to face off against a handful of these corrupted Hive and Fallen until they face the big one that killed Sagira.

Producer: Man, if these are champions of the Hive God of War they must be really tough.

Writer: I was actually thinking we could have them all be super weak actually. Like barely a challenge even in the slightest possible sense.

Producer: Okay that sounds like it will be fun and not repetitive at all. But do we want to have something here that people can really sink their teeth into? Like a hard new mission?

Writer: Yeah! We've got a really solid one in the works right now, with new areas of the EDZ and some difficult enemies.

Producer: Well it sounds like as long as all the achievements and dialogue work for that mission it should be a really nice way to close out the season.

List of all new and reprised weapons coming next season (46 in Total)

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 08:19 AM PST

    Core Playlists

    Seasonal Weapon Set

    Trials

    Iron Banner

    Other:

So, in total, 15 new weapons (+some more trials weapons), 2 new exotic weapons, 1 new ritual weapon, 14 reprised weapons and 6+ adept weapons.

If we assume that next season has the same number of trials weapons as currently (6), that brings the total to 35 new or reprised weapons, and an additional 9 adept weapons.

EDIT: accidentally included the 2 season pass weapons twice. Should be fixed now.

Drip or Drown, from Crown to Crow: the Uldren Sov Story has been a huge success.

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 01:20 PM PST

I know the game is in a weird space now at the end of the season, but I really want to praise the writers for all of Crow's development over the season. Crow over the course of one season has become one of my favorite characters in the game and I can only hope he stays part of the overarching story for a long time.

Either remove overload champions or fix them. The inconsistency is ridiculous.

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 05:25 PM PST

I just did a master lost sector and almost every overload champion bugged out. Had the fallen overload champion teleport as he was stunned, had the minotaurs get stunned and then keep attacking. One guy literally didn't even stop moving after I stunned him.

This isn't an isolated incident, either. There is one overload champion in concealed void that will not get stunned for more than a half second at a time. I've had champions in the glassway nightfall simply not stun, even after shooting them with my scout 7, 8, 9 times. Unstoppable and barrier champions are fine- they provide a good challenge, but he overloads are way too overcooked. Especially on master or higher, where a champion bugging out can wipe you.

We've had Knights, we've had Samurai, it's time to do the other For Honor faction justice.

    Now, hear me out:

Titans get a massive steel breastplate and arms that look like they're made of carbon fiber MUSCLE with the Horned helmet.

Hunters get a non-hooded fur cloak.

And Warlocks? Get the coolest looking dress/trench coat ever(can't think of anything).

The armor and decors of this season are inspired by the Ottomans, Saracens, and Sasanians (Persians) armors.

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 04:43 AM PST

(I decided to repost my take from r/DestinyLore also here, in case people are wondering why the armors look like that)

EDIT: I changed the word "Ottoman" (except on the title, since I can´t change it) because I couldn´t remember the proper word to indicate the First Persian Empire, even though Ottomans inherited the armor style even in the following centuries from the common roots of greek and Persian descendence.

So even though quite exaggerated, the armors decors of the season of the Chosen are in my opinion inspired by some of the great enemies of the Roman empire, which we know are the main inspiration for Cabals race-style, society, and visual language within Destiny. These are the Achaemenids, the Saracens, and the Sasanians (Persian Empire).

Here are some images. A quick google search will bring up more.

    Achaemenids armor headpieces: https://www.cais-soas.com/CAIS/Images2/Achaemenid/Military/persian-immortal-elites.pnghttps://i.pinimg.com/originals/25/2c/05/252c05aafb97ffa0c6188a5bba4e21b0.jpg

    Sasanians armor:https://i.pinimg.com/736x/8d/03/23/8d032328a1dae055882f10fbddcfe6f8.jpghttps://i.pinimg.com/originals/97/29/d4/9729d4b5ed959bba1a2c96f88e418aa6.jpg

EDIT 2: Guys, I am gonna write this up here because i´m kinda set off by this and I don´t want to reply to anyone who pointed it out: the Saracens word was used in the middle ages as a term that indicated Muslims, sure, but prior to that it was used by greeks and then romans to identify a specific tribe coming from the Sinai Peninsula. The word comes from "Sarakenoi", in greek. The Saraceni were one of three tribes, the other two were called Arabes and Taeni.

EDIT 3: Thank you so much for all the medals guys, really appreciate it!

    Harbinger Maps for Weeks 1-3

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 12:29 PM PST

A couple of weeks ago I made a map for the reservoir section of the Harbinger mission. Then Bungie thought it would be a good idea to change it each week. So, here I am back with more maps!

These now includes both the Reservoir and Hallowed Rift areas, and all of the feather and emissary locations for every week. There's also a version of the Reservoir map which shows it in patrol when you do the original Hawkmoon mission, or get the exotic ship at the end of the feather quest.

    All Maps

    Week 1

    Week 2

    Week 3

    Patrol

    A few notes:

    • There are large numbers on the walls in the main dam corridor. Use these if you get lost.

    • The lighter/darker shades are to show different height levels. Inaccessible areas are also greyed out (you may still find ways into some of these areas, but there is no reason to go there).

    • The order you kill the emissaries changes the order of the enemies that spawn in the 'survive' room. I like to get centurions or captains out of the way first and leave wizards until last.

    • The week 2 map gets a little confusing because a lot of the rooms in the Reservoir overlap. I wasn't sure the best way to show this, but hopefully it should be clear.

    • The 'survive' room is directly below the final boss room of the Lake of Shadows strike. You can see both of these rooms from across the dam.

    • I made this map by checking the player location on the in-game map as I walked along every wall of every room and drawing over it in Photoshop. It should be reasonably accurate, although obviously Hallowed Rift is much further away from the Reservoir than it appears here.

    • Thanks to my clanmates for showing me where the feathers were after I couldn't collect any more, and for standing around patiently whilst I measured stuff by running into walls.

    • Hopefully there's not a week 4!

    Enough Exotics Hand Cannons

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 01:38 PM PST

The teaser image for the Season of the Chosen Exotic Quest Weapon heavily implies it's a Tex Mechanica gun. I think Destiny Fun Police nailed it, it's most likely The First Curse returning from D1.

Now, this could be both a good and bad thing. Good because it would give another 120 exotic option besides Sturm, and hopefully 120s will remain viable even after their upcoming range nerf.

Bad because we absolutely do not need another exotic kinetic hc. I think we have plenty. If anything, give us a brand new energy exotic hc. Maybe another 180 besides Malfeasance, one that has excellent range and a balanced damage perk, so that it's viable in Crucible. I realize they're probably avoiding this because they don't want to create another Not Forgotten. Hence we got Posterity.

But as bad as I want a new exotic 180, at the end of the day, we have too many exotic hand cannons, period. If nothing else, the dev time should go to other exotics, but personally, I'd could live without a seasonal quest weapon if it meant the manpower went to other areas like exotic armor and improved pvp map design.

Bungie, please give us shader previews for eververse ornaments

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 08:05 PM PST

Just bought the Photodraulic Actuators ornament for Synthoceps, only to find a good portion of the ornament doesn't change with shaders. The bronze doesn't work at all with the colour scheme I'm running, so I'll likely never use the ornament I spend 600 silver on. It really leaves a bitter taste for the whole experience.

This isn't the first time I've made a post about this but it's the first time I've been actively burned by it. I don't mind if you enable shaders in the ornament preview, if you allow ornament refunds within 5 minutes of unwrapping or something else. Just please add something because otherwise I doubt I'll ever buy an ornament from eververse again, I don't want to take the chance that I may just be wasting money on it.

Lightweight (450rpm) pulse rifles and Precision (180rpm) scout rifles are pointless archetypes in the current sandbox. Archetypes should be merged similar to what happened to hand cannons.

    Posted: 03 Feb 2021 05:37 PM PST

    Pulse rifles:

As it stands, there is only a 1 point difference between maximum damage a rapid fire frame can deal in PvP Vs what a lightweight frame can deal.

Damage is currently as follows, assuming 6 resilence:

Rapid fire frame: 540rpm, 24 crit 14 body. 0.8 sec optimal ttk, 7 crit 2 body.

Lightweight frame: 450rpm, 25 crit 16 body. 0.87 sec optimal ttk, 8 crit.

Adaptive frame: 390rpm, 31 crit 20 body, 0.93 sec optimal ttk, 5 crit 2 body.

As you can see, the lightweight frames require 100% crit accuracy to achieve a 0.07 sec slower ttk than rapid fire frames. And adaptive frames are the forgiving archetype with a slower ttk and serve well as they are.

(Of course we have high impact frames that have the potential to two burst in 0.67 sec if you hit 5 crits 1 body, but 1.07 sec if you miss a crit)

Because of the way rapid fire and adaptive frames are superior in every way to lightweight frames, I think the lightweight frame pulse rifles should be deprecated and merged into the adaptive archetype.

This is similar to how 150 hand cannons became 140 hand cannons. Infact, very similar as 450rpm pulses fire bursts at a cadence of 150rpm single shot weapons, and 390 pulses at the cadence of 140rpm single shot weapons.

Exept for bad JuJu, I think it should become a rapid fire frame. It's more fitting for it's role. It's full auto and has hip fire grip so a faster rpm archetype would fit it better.

Becoming an adaptive frame archetype would be an indirect buff to Outbreak prime.

(Then we would have exotic pulse rifles in the kinetic slot for every archetype if that was the case)

Besides, there is only one non sunset legendary lightweight frame pulse rifle in the entire game. And that's chattering bone from last wish. Becoming an adaptive frame would be a buff to it too.

The same problem plagues 180 rpm scout rifles. They still require 3 crits 1 body as 200rpm ones do but they have a 1 sec optimal ttk Vs the 0.9 sec of the 200rpm.

Lightweight scouts: 54 crit 31 body

Precision scouts: 55 crit 35 body

(As you can see the maximum damage difference is again, only 1)

The only advantage to a 180rpm scout rifle is that they deal more body shot damage and can kill in 6 body shots Vs 7 from a 200rpm resulting in a slightly faster body shot ttk. But that's irrelevant as you will be hitting crits with a scout rifle.

Therefore, all 180rpm scout rifles should become 200rpm scout rifles.

Addendum to this, 200rpm scouts should then inherit the damage profile of 180rpm scouts. This would not change optimal ttk, (still 0.9 sec 3 crits 1 body)

But would cause them to have a slightly faster body shot ttk whilst also gaining more effectiveness in PvE as a result of the small damage buff.

    TLDR:

Merge lightweight frame pulse rifles up into adaptives.

Merge precision frame scout rifles down into lightweights, but have lightweights then keep the current 55 crit 35 body of the 180's.
