    Nightfall - The Ordeal: The Insight Terminus

    Modifiers:

    • Nightfall: The Ordeal: Adept
      • Empath: Enhanced radar. Take increased damage from melee.

    Gambit enemies teleporting so badly that a blocker teleported through the floor and the bank was permanently locked.

    It was just 4 guardians standing around a flat bank while the enemy just wins. This is the worst I have seen it.

    Duplicates from Bright Engrams should turn into Bright Dust

    In Division 2, duplicates cosmetics from caches turn into their in-game currency (I forget what it's called), so getting dupes doesn't feel bad. Bungie should adopt this method.

    Friendly reminder to not leave this weeks Nightfall before the rewards drop from completion

    There's about a 30-45 second window in this weeks nightfall after you kill the boss where ghost rambles on about some nonesense before the completion rewards, including maybe your god roll palindrome, drop. If the timer to orbit isn't up and rewards haven't come down the side of your screen, then join in on the dance party and wait a few to make sure you get your drops.

    Weekly Challenges Have Allowed Destiny To Be A Game To Come Back To Weekly Better Than Almost Any Previous Season Has

    Throughout the many seasons, excluding Forsaken's, we have heard Bungie constantly say how they want us to come back weekly for seasons and experience what has changed. However, the seasons since Undying have failed to do so in a cohesive and easy to play manner. But Chosen, has somehow managed to solve many problems at once and creat a Destiny where players do not feel a FOMO or a pressure to grind meaningless bounties weekly or daily for a pinch of bright dust or a few levels on their season pass. The season challenges have created a compelling reason to play seasonal content, do specific activities, complete the damn flashpoint, and most importantly, create a halfway decent interest in doing Gambit every week besides grinding for Bottom Dollar.

    Need less to say, this seasons changes have foundationally changed Destiny from the monotonous grindy bounty simulator game to one where I look forward to coming back each week, despite the lack of a new activity or Nine story quest from Xur or even new weapons from something like the Sundial.

    I just wanted to applaud Bungie for this change that seems small but changes so much for players who have been getting bored with the game and don't want to or don't have the time to dedicate to Destiny and the never ending level ups that we need.

    I really love the style of these types of cutscenes. Has a very visual novel style to them. This weeks is super interesting and I'm excited to see more!

    Edit: Wow! This really blew up! I have seen a lot of people ask how to see the cutscene. I logged into my Warlock at reset and saw when I loaded up, I assume you have to have completed all of the weekly quests up to this week

    So many of the weekly challenges involve doing gambit in some way and it feels like bungie wants us to play gambit. Fine, it's one of their core game mode, but no one likes playing against a super try hard 4 stack so just let us avoid that completely

    Plot, dialogue, cutscenes, and the overall execution of the storytelling are on point. The activities, missions, and quests this season are woven well into the narrative and feel purposeful. I hope this is a precedent for things to come

    If you're not doing dungeons, they're consistently dropping 60+ stat roll armour

    Not sure if this was mentioned anywhere, or if Bungie mentioned it in any patch notes but all three dungeons are dropping armour above 60 stat roll. I've frequently been getting plus 20 in a stat and have been surprised as this didn't seem to be the case pre-Beyond Light.

    Dear Bungie: A perk that is inactive unless I have dead teammates is not an exciting feeling for a pinnacle reward.

    Please retire this awful design choice regarding "Celerity" and "Bottomless Grief."

    I don't want a perk that does virtually nothing until my teammates are all dead. When the perk rolls on my weapon, it feels unrewarding. When my teammates die, it feels unrewarding. And my compensation is increased stats, or subsistence? These situational perks are for undesirable situations and are too niche, please retire them.

    The sound design overall and diversity of gun sounds in Destiny is awesome. So why do all the sparrows sound the same? Would be nice if they had different engine sounds.

    They all sound the same no matter what they look like. This is a bummer. I want my Ravager's Ride and making clanking engine noises like the Reaver ship in "Serenity". I want my Burnout sounding like Ghost Rider's motorcycle. I want my Blacklight Razor sounding like a light cycle from "Tron". I love ripping around my sparrows but it kinda takes you out of it when they all sound the same.

    Yes, 450 rpm auto rifles sorely need a buff, but a warning. The line between underpowered and overpowered in PvP is very thin.

    Uldren quote withstanding, this is true.

    Currently they are dealing less than the 28 crit 18 body displayed, which, on 6 resilence results in an 0.93 sec optimal ttk (6 crit 2 body) and a 1.47 sec body shot ttk (12 shots) because the actual damage is about 27.2 per crit and 17.2 per body.

    And this is very weak and the worst of all auto rifles by a very large margin. But:

    If the damage was exactly 28 crit 18 body it would be a 0.8 sec optimal ttk on 6 resilence or less (7 crit) and 1.33 sec body shot ttk. (11 shots) . The 8 shot 0.93 sec kill would be 5 crit 3 body on 7 resilence or less.

    This is the buff that they need. Anymore and they will creep into being overpowered.

    It's possible to just increase the crit damage instead, meaning 29 crit and 17.2 body, but that results in a 6 crit 1 body kill @0.8 sec on 5 resilience or less.

    Considering the high stability and vertical recoil coupled with good range of 450's this could be a problem.

    But that is the absolute maximum buff that could be reasonably applied without them being overpowered.

    For example, if the damage went up to 29 crit 19 body it would be the 6 crit 1 body kill on 5 resilience or less, but, on 6 resilence or less it would be 4 crit 4 body for 0.93 sec (8 total shots) and 5 resilience or less the body shot ttk would be 1.2 sec over 10 shots.

    That would certainly be overpowered.

    Be careful what you wish for.

    Edit:

    The other option is to increase base damage but decrease the precision damage multiplier so crit damage remains the same as it is now but body shot damage is increased.

    If the body shot damage was 20 but the crit damage remained the same 27.2 ish it is now, it would still kill in 0.93 sec. But it would be 5 crit 3 body instead of 6 crit 2 body. The % of crits required for optimal ttk reduces.

    (And body shot ttk would be 1.2 sec)

    Either this or the previous slightly increased precision damage would be an adequate buff for this archetype to make it more viable in PvP.

    Edit again:

    The other possible fix is leaving damage for this archetype where it is now but increasing rate of fire slightly. If the rate of fire was increased so the optimal ttk was 0.87 sec, this archetype would become viable in PvP. It'd still be 6 crit 2 body but just faster. (0.06 sec faster to be exact)

    I don't know what rpm increase would be needed to achieve this.

    If somone is able to calculate this it would be much appreciated.

    Addendum to all this:

    In PvE auto rifles are in a bad spot DPS wise against red bar targets anyway. All auto rifles. Not just 450 rpm ones. All auto rifles could do with a PvE specific damage buff. Currently smg's deal about double the DPS that auto rifles do to red bars in pve. Smg's dont need to be nerfed. Auto rifles need to come up in DPS a bit. We know that bungie is capable of doing this as they have done it before.

    TLDR;

    There's three ways to fix precision frame auto rifles.

    1. Increase crit damage to at least 29 to achieve a 6 crit 1 body kill @0.8 sec. The old 0.93 sec optimal ttk would be 5 crits 3 body then.

    OR

    1. Increase body shot damage to 20 but leave crit damage the same as it is now, resulting in a 5 crit 3 body 0.93 sec kill. (More forgiving, same optimal ttk)

    OR

    1. Increase rpm to make the optimal ttk 0.87 sec but leave damage the same so it's still 6 crit 2 body.

    And finally also all auto rifles need a PvE only damage buff.

    Caiatl Isn’t Going For Zavala

    With this week's reset, we saw the cinematic about the assassination attempt of Zavala. Even though it was from a Cabal psion, all the events so far in which we learn about Caiatl show she is different from normal Cabal. It seems out of place for her to send an assassin out like this to take out Zavala. This was just my own perspective, but what really hinted at some other entity issuing these commands is the response Caiatl gave on Destiny's instagram. Does anyone have thoughts about this? With the presage mission all about Calus's disappearance could it have anything to do with him?

    Seasonal Challenge for 5 Infamy Ranks is NOT retroactive.

    As the title says, one of this weeks new seasonal challenges is to get 5 infamy ranks in gambit. It is not retroactive.

    EDIT: Seems this challenge might be bugged? There have been a couple reports of rank ups after reset not even counting towards the challenge.

    EDIT 2: To all those saying that we have all season to complete this, yes that is true. But these challenges are meant to be completed within a week (hence why they are released weekly). Bungie said that when they announced these new seasonal challenges. Also, this challenge can be vastly more difficult in terms of time commitment based on what gambit rank you already are.

    EDIT 3: The challenge is not bugged, it is just not worded super clearly. The challenge requires new rank tiers to progress. So, for example, going from Brave to Heroic counts as one. The sub ranks such as Brave II and III do not count.

    Honestly Bungie did a lot right with Trials of the Nine, it was sandbagged by year one's systems

    IMO Trials of the Nine (ToN) already had a lot of the things people are asking for in the current Trials of Osiris (ToO). This post isn't a critique on ToO it's an attempt to discuss how the faults of that era didn't belong to ToN.

    What year one systems am I talking about? The double primary sandbox, locked loadouts, 4v4 pvp and the biggest culprit fixed roll drops. Most of these things weren't well received, they've all since been changed so there's no need to talk about why they were bad for the game but let's discuss how they uniquely affected ToN.

    Double primaries

    Only having primaries back when the Times-to-kill(TTK) were significantly slower made team shooting feel like the optimal way to play diminishing the feeling of individual impact in a match.

    This TTK also made comebacks harder once you were down a player, making those awesome hero moments rarer where you clutch the 1vX to save the round or even the game.

    Locked loadouts

    Prestige activities limited loadout options in year one. ToN being the Prestige pvp activity you weren't required to use anything specific but you weren't able to change your gear once you've found a game. I'm torn on this one, I like the idea of setting up a balanced game plan before you go in but it prevents you from changing strats if things aren't working out. Ultimately this feels like it contributed to the rise of team shooting and laning with scouts as a safe strat slowing the mode down somewhat in what was a slower TTK era. That's not to say that the mode couldn't play fast as you still had objectives to work around but Mida was definitely a popular weapon back then.

    4v4 pvp

    why was it bad for ToN? Trials is a unique pvp mode that lacks matchmaking, meaning players that don't already have a friend group need to look for group (LFG). LFGing is strenuous enough, the less people you need the faster you'll get into an activity. When you factor that people also want members with good stats/attitudes it takes even longer to get into the actual game.

    4v4 is also an issue for those that do have friend groups as well as a 4 person team meant that you couldn't evenly divide your team if you had a raid group. This is admittedly a lesser issue as maybe not everyone is interested in pvp in your group but it's still worth noting.

    Personally I feel it's easier to notice your impact on the game in 3's compared to 4's.

    Fixed rolls.

    This was worse for ToN for the same reason it was bad for the game. Once you got your drop you had no reason to continue playing the mode for yourself. This directly harmed the player pool whether the player was carried or did the carry to flawless. If you were able to get all the items the first time they were rewards you could be done with the playlist in five weeks.

    Why make this post?

    The community seems to hate ToN. But ToN had good things some of which the community seems to be asking for in ToO. It'd be a shame if the community dismissed any positive changes Bungie makes if it seemed too similar to ToN.

    • Rewarding your time A single win gave you vendor access to turn in your tokens. Currently it takes 3 wins to be able to spend them. Additionally I'd support people to be able to use their tokens if they spent any time in the playlist.
    • An objective game type to push players into fights. Countdown was the mode every other week. Maybe Bungie doesn't like how it plays in 3's but I'm open to trying an objective based Trials mode.
    • Alternating weekly game types. While I think an objective mode is important in driving fights, this was legitimately a good idea to help keep trials somewhat fresh and combat player fatigue. I'd support an objective mode but some players may not and this give space for that.

    • Respecting your time only remembered this after posting but both 7 wins and flawless gave you a choice between 3 items. This would be fantastic to bring back in the era of adept weapons.

    This is minor I don't think the community is asking for this but I thought it was cool to unlock parts of the spire alongside your card.

    I'm not saying to replace Trials of Osiris with Trials of the Nine. I just think ToN gets a lot of misplaced hate for existing at the wrong time but it may have solutions to the problems facing current Trials.

    Why am I getting duplicate emotes from engrams I get every 5 levels

    Like seriously today I opened 2 eververse engrams and got a duplicate emote from both. I'm pretty sure this is a glitch because before you couldn't even get the same emote more than once. This needs to be fixed so I don't spend hours leveling just to get the same stuff.

    Just make sure to kill all enemies along the way, and don't melt the boss in the final room. Enough enemies come out of the portals to help you hit 100k score. Also make sure to get a few shots on the Hydra/Minotaurs that Kargen kills when you're jumping down to the boss room.

    For the love of god, please remove 2/3 of the health gates or at least let bounties count in the boss room. The fight is so painful it makes me just back out every time it comes up.

    Food for thought: I like Master and GM Strikes, but when we get Master RADs (Raids and Dungeons) I hope they have added mechanics and new enemy spawns rather than Most BS modifiers

    This is very simple in concept IMO, but likely not simple to develop (maybe that is why Master VoG will not come in S14)

    Strikes need to offer punishing combat because thejr mechanics are super forgiving, and barely influence gameplay, to compensate for that GMs and Master crank the combat sections to 11 to create a "Hard activity"

    When we get Master raids I hope we see a different take on this. Rather than just adding match game, burn modifiers, and stuff like grounded, I would love to see a new modifier that reads: "This activity has extra mechanics"

    And these mechanics are more unforgiving than the normal version

    An example could be adding to both The Descent and Taniks on DSC, a big Shank (Saber-2 sized), that goes to one of the augment terminals, if it reaches them, all players will be deactivated, effectivily wiping the team. These shanks would also have a lot of health

    Other minor things could also be done, Like having Taniks trap More people, or having specific enemies that block nuclear core deposits on The Descent encounter, make radiation stack faster, Reduce the Replication Timer on atraks...

    Basically 1-2 new mechanics per encounter

    Of course this would not be the only thing. Having contest modifier tuned to the same level of a GM (enemies as 1350, players capped at 1325), and having things like extra champions would be fine (as long as Overloads are retuned-they are annoying AF). That and maybe an Increase to AI agression (maybe that is a DSC exclusive issue)

    I just hope we dont see things like grounded, and Enemy burns, BC that will create MAAAANY 1 shot scenarios we see on GMs today, which, have no place in a Mechanic required activity like a raid

    Tl;dr Master raids should add modifiers that Increase mechanics, and contest mode to increase combat challenge, without creating GMs one shot city scenarios

    Please add a direct path to acquiring raid exotics. RNG is crushing my soul.

    I'm a passionate Destiny fan and D1 vet. Bought every expansion. Beat every raid on every difficulty. I love raiding. But, RNG for raid exotics is hurting my passion for raiding.

    It took me over 60 runs to get 1k voices. I said would never do that again. I'm now on 50 looted runs without Eyes. Not because I want the gun, but because it's tied to the seal!

    I have gone from frustrated to resentful of the current raid. If this is happening to me, then it must be really turning off other players.

    Please make future raid exotics have a direct path. Or, at least don't time their acquisition to the seal.

    Not sure why vendors like Lord Shaxx and The Drifter are distributing world loot? It really dilutes the loot pool when I would love to get specific Crucible or Gambit items.
