Can caster frame swords use less ammo for heavy attacks?

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 01:11 PM PDT

8 ammo is honestly way too much considering it does less damage than a rocket which is also better for add clear. The utility it nice but not enough to justify how expensive it is.

Not to mention Black Talon only costs 4 per attack as well and you can fire off 2 heavy attacks back-to-back.

    Bug in Trials of Osiris?

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 06:57 AM PDT

I think I've found a serious bug within Trials of Osiris. Every time I die, the guardian that killed me seems to be attracted to my ghost shell, and appears to be forced into crouching repeatedly for a couple seconds. This seems like a serious bug as it essentially removes this player actively playing for a significant time period. Trials is broken enough already, but now seeing guardians being forced into this weird crouching movement where they are rendered useless is too much.

With Ada-1 coming back next season, please take the opportunity to reissue Black Armory weapons

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 03:20 AM PDT

I think we can all agree on two things :

1, black armory guns were some of Bungie's best work on weapons. They look really cool, they sound insanely good, 10/10.

2, they were, as far as i'm aware, collateral damage of sunsetting more than anything else. Kindled Orchid wasn't more OP than another hand cannon, hammerhead was a great LMG for pve or gambit, but i don't think anyone was screaming for these weapons to be removed.

So with their merchant coming back to the game next season it'd be the perfect opportunity to stop the waste that is your best work remaining unseen by being unusable in 90% of the game. We need more weapons anyway, it was a big complaint when Beyond Light dropped.

Tons of ways you could do it too, from Ada giving a weekly bounty for a black armory engram, to simply dropping them into the world pool.

Pls bungo, i just want my favorite guns back

Edit : lots of people talking about how they already have these and don't want to grind for them again, and I find that to be an incredibly egoistical take. Not every player was around for BA, not everyone spent the (insanely long) time required for every weapon frame. Reissuing these, on top of the new seasonal content, takes no effort or production time. It has no realistical downsides.

hey you remember when iron banner had supremacy, rift, and clash? and wasn't just control 24/7.

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 07:04 AM PDT

man rise of iron did some good shit when it came to ib, starting the traditon of armor/weapons from bounties, adding a buff that gave you progressively more reputation (And by extension rewards) as the week went on.

It wasn't perfect mind you (those god awful iron medals which stacked up to 5) and while rift and supremacy aren't the greatest game modes, it was nice to not be stuck in god forsaken control forever. It would be nice to see some new Iron Banner modes again.

I made Hawkmoon IRL (On Ashen Wings ornament) - Full Resin Replica

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 10:10 PM PDT

When it comes to my free time I usually get stuck at a crossroads of playing games, or making things from games. Although I enjoy both, the past year I've found myself primarily doing the former. I had to stop myself from playing to make this. It's a wonderful feeling to bring stuff from a game into the real world where you can hold and admire it.

The Wardcliff Coil chunking a bar off of Sepiks is the best feeling in PvE I've had in a while.

I want this power fantasy more than anything, I know that 3 shotting a 1270 nightfall boss might not be ideal for the health of the game but goddamn if it isnt fun.

    A Dummies Guide to Bows

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 11:00 AM PDT

Since Bows have Overload Champion mods this season, we have seen a lot of discussion regarding Bows and their efficacy. We want to clarify some details about Bows and what constitutes a good Bow roll for PvE.

The most important stat with Bows is their DRAW TIME. For Precisions Reload is the next most impactful stat. For Lightweights Accuracy is the 2nd most impactful, followed by Reload.

Unlike CHARGE TIME, in which impact goes down when the CHARGE TIME goes down, DRAW TIME does NOT affect the Impact stat. Because of this, faster DRAW TIME = better sustained and burst DPS. DRAW TIME is also capped at 540 for both archetypes.

Precision Bows have higher impact and much higher accuracy compared to Lightweight Bows and are able to achieve 576 Draw Time with Elastic String and a Draw Time MasterWork.

Lightweight Bows can Achieve 540 easily with a variety of Strings and a Draw Time MasterWork, or just out right with Elastic String, but due to their lower base accuracy the negative accuracy is more noticeable.

Archers Tempo also reduces Draw Time to 460ms when active, regardless of your Draw Time stat, and is the same for both Lightweight and Precision Bows. So both Bows can effectively achieve the same Draw Time, but Precisions do more damage and have better accuracy (Aim assist).

A reason for the potential dislike for Bows was because the first Bow players ever got their hands on was the "No Turning Back" which had a terrible Draw Time of 684 and no Archers Tempo. We recommend trying the Blue Bow "HOLLESS-IV" to see the difference fast Draw Time can make.

Unlike other weapons, Bows rely heavily on Strings and/or Masterwork to reduce Draw Time. To give it some perspective, imagine an Iron Grip or Extended Magazine Steady Hand vs. a Steady Hand and with Outlaw proc'd. Most people are running around with the equivalent of Extended Magazine on their Bow.

Exotic Bows are on the higher end for Draw Time, but their Exotic Perks more than make up for this:

    • Trinity Ghoul - Is one of the best, if not the best, red bar killers and doesn't require fully Drawing the arrows for its chain lightning effect.
    • Le-Monarque - Amazing in both PvE and PvP, phenomenal against Overload Champions this season.
    • Ticuu's Divination - Works with Wrath of Rasputin Warmind cell mod, very high dps with the catalyst for a primary weapon, great auto-aiming fun.

Example God Rolls for Precision Bows

String Shaft Trait 1 Trait 2 Masterwork
Elastic String Fibreglass Archer's Tempo Rampage Draw Time
    - Straight Fletching - Dragonfly -
    - - - Explosive Head -
    - - - Swashbuckler -

Example God rolls for Lightweight Bows

Lightweights are more nuanced, with interesting perk combinations that make up for their lower damage. Firstly, here's how to reach 540 draw time with string/mw

    String Shaft Masterwork
    Polymer/Flexible Fibreglass Draw Time
    Elastic String Fibreglass Accuracy

    Interesting perk combinations for lightweights:

    Trait 1 Trait 2
Explosive Head Rampage (Arsenic Bite only)
    Archer's Tempo Dragonfly/Rampage
Impulse Amplifier Frenzy (Imperial Needle only)

Honorable perk mentions (Possible Niche applications), Rapid Hit, Surplus, Sympathetic arsenal, Wellspring, Thresh.

    Endgame content

Bows (Particularly precision bows) excel in content such as high light nightfalls, legend lost sectors and dungeons, where they can 1-2 hit kill red bars without damage perks active. Whereas other primaries can take entire magazines for a single kill. For consoles this is a seriously under-appreciated factor of Bows, and they can do so at safe ranges. Content with an elemental singe active, like legend lost sectors, lightweights can be used to great effect with perks like explosive head+rampage.

This wasn't a fully comprehensive guide, but it should hopefully give you the information you need to understand Bows a bit better and maybe not delete that Godroll Arsenic bite-4b you've got in your vault.

Feel free to ask any questions you might have.

    TLDR:

    • The difference between a good roll and a bad roll is much wider than usual weapons.
    • Draw Time is the most important stat and should be prioritized.
    • If you get a low Draw Time Bow with some of the combinations mentioned above, give them a try.

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 08:43 AM PDT

Load up your fireteam with Telesto shots and run at the other team. It's only a few seconds longer than cliff jumping but the level of chaos that happens is great. Plus if you are fast enough you get a kill.

As someone who can't speak, the broken text chat has been a huge hindrance in teamplay and makes me feel helpless

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 04:44 AM PDT

I did an LFG Prophecy run yesterday, and to my horror realised i couldn't send any messages due to the broken text chat. It was a nightmare clearing all the mote puzzles since we couldn't tell who was gonna pick up the motes, who needs light/dark etc. Neither /u/dmg04 nor /u/Cozmo23 has acknowledged this AFAIK which makes me feel like Bungie isn't making this a priority. I plead with you guys to reconsider the severity of this bug.

    My ColdHeart rework/overhaul idea

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 02:59 PM PDT

Since ColdHeart is just a glorified Trace Rifle with nothing going for it and no one has been really using it at all (from what I've seen) I'm pretty sure it's in need of a rework.

Or better yet; a complete overhaul.

I have currently have two floating around in my head (which is usually filled with random bullshit that isn't relevant nor related to what I'm talking about whatsoever)

One is just a change in the gun's intrinsic perk to where it isn't just a waste of text on the gun.

And the other is a complete overhaul of the weapon itself. Meaning the gun will be turned into a completely new gun.

Let's start with the intrinsic perk. So instead of the perk making it just a Trace Rifle, let's make it do-

"Cold Fusion": Continued damage on a target partially refills the mag

    Bam new perk, new gun.

Now let's get into the complete overhaul.

You may be asking "what idea does this numbnut have?"

    Well...

It's a Auto Rifle/Trace Rifle combo weapon that uses Primary and Energy ammo with a new intrinsic perk and a new secondary perk

However your secondary slot is disabled due to having a Primary and Energy weapon at the same time.

Intrinsic perk: "Cold Fusion" This weapon doubles as an Auto Rifle and a Trace Rifle. Hold [Reload Keybind] to switch modes. Continued fire on an enemy increases damage in Trace Rifle mode. Multi-kills in Auto Rifle mode grants increased swap-speed between the modes.

    Cool aye? Well there's more.

Secondary perk: "Preservation System 1.3" Getting muli-kills with this weapon in Auto Rifle mode grants a stack of "Sustainment" (up to 5 stacks); swapping to Trace Rifle mode with stacks of "Sustainment" grants extra ammo in the mag for Trace Rifle mode(1 stack= 10 ammo). Sustained fire in Trace Rifle mode on a target grants a stack of "Preservation" (every 1.4 seconds of Sustained fire will grant a stack, up to 5); swapping to Auto Rifle mode with stacks of "Preservation" grants a damage bonus (3% per stack of Preservation) for Auto Rifle mode.

Alright those are both of my ideas ColdFront.

Sorry that is post is pretty bloated, but I wanted to make sure that everything is explained properly.

(Fun fact I had to do a little in game testing to get certain details right)

    Edit: "Why isn't it stasis?"

If you look in the lore tab it says that the ammo is a coolant; not ice.

Having done the sherpa raid for the first time, I have nothing but respect for you guys who do it regularly

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 10:41 AM PDT

I finally decided to sherpa some randoms through Last Wish today. It didn't go badly, we finished the raid in about 4 hours but man is it tough on a mental level. Having 5 people rely on your explanations and calls to complete the thing is beyond stressfull, especially when the team gets stuck at a certain encounter you can't help but feel responsible for every wipe. I always appreciated sherpas, but now you guys have my utmost respect as I can't imagine myself guiding players again any time soon as it's so draining and nerve-racking. You are absolute legends and thank you for your service.

Some new potential masterworks for swords should be charge time, defense, and reach.

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 07:17 PM PDT

Right now, swords only have one masterwork which is impact. I feel the impact masterwork should be the same on all swords to make way for new masterworks.

Charge time: Your swords charges faster.

Defense: Block more damage and/or block for longer.

Reach(for PvP mostly): Your sword reaches farther.

These are just ideas and would be really nice to see in game sometime in the future to shake up swords.

    Break down of elemental wells

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 06:32 PM PDT

Edit : forgot to mention this is LONG, i dont go into to much detail but there is still a bit to cover

all testing was done within the haunted lost sector Terminus East, on the EDZ, this was so i had a constant stream of enermies as well as various ranks, since the tribute hall disappeared

first, they do not work in any measure for pvp, as the mods say combatants. And after testing within PvP there is no ifs or buts / work arounds that i found

now on to the fun stuff

    Basic mod function

    every mods comes with this

Picking up an elemental well grants energy to your ability with the lowest current energy. Picking up an elemental well that matches your subclass damage type grants energy to ALL of your abilities

    Translation :

you'll see an discoloured orb of power on the floor pick it up and receive ability energy back.

    Specfics :

from my testing you get a flat 10% of ability energy PER well with no cool down on this effect

this is the same with the matching vs unmatched with subclass just you get 10% to 1 ability vs 3,

this wells last 20sec from time of summoning, descent but i have wasted many a well because they can be lost in a sea of bodies

    Notes :

    • unlike the warmind cell mods there is NO way to generate wells without a specific mod that says it can generate them
      • warmind cell mods ALL say that ikelos and seventh serif weapons will summon a cell
      • where as well mods say the above
    • multiple mods have no effect

    Elemental Armaments

Weapons Take downs with a damage type that matches your subclass element have an escalating chance to spawn an elemental well

Translation : kills with a gun that matches your sub class will spawn a well,..... eventually

    Specifics

this is a flat x amount of kills to spawn a well. just like with warmind cells, the perk description is VERY vague and misleading in this regard

with testing there is no difference between heavy, special, or primary weapons. they all take 7 kills to proc

further testing showed no difference in ranks, 1 kill is 1 kill

EDIT : forgot mod stacking doesn't work, 1 mod or 5 it still takes 7 kills

EDIT : forgot that Osmosis Weapons works exactly like a normal elemental weapon, when activated.

    Notes :

    • multi kills count fully, even risky and trinity's arc chains count
    • Weapon Types dont matter Rocket launchers through side arms all the same 7 kills
    • didn't test cursed thrall of explody shanks
      • now that i have no they don't work, even if you trigger the detonation

    FONT OF MIGHT

Picking up an elemental well that matches your subclass grants a temporary bonus to weapon damage of that same elemental type

Translation : if the elemental well is the same as your subclass any weapons that also match gain a temporary damage bonus

    Specfics :

this is a FLAT 10% damage buff regardless of the weapon or enemy

this buff last for 5 sec and is capped at 5 sec, regardless

this Buff is kind of kneecapped by only working on weapons whos element match's your subclass, (stasis getting the short hand of the stick for mods of these mods)

    Notes ;

    • stacking mods doesn't work 1 or 5 mods it's still 10%
    • stacks with Debuffs
    • as im a solo player with somewhat limited time i didn't have time to test this with buffs
    • EDIT : turns out that this buff stacks with all buffs so you could have weapons of light and this buff at once (Ehor's video)

    Elemental Light

Defeating a combatant with your Super spawns an elemental well that matchs your subclass energy type

Translation : super kills generate elemental wells

    Specifics :

i dont know HOW this works but i believe there is a cooldown on the well spawning,

    • fist of havoc seemed to spawn a well every light attack but slamming seemed be capped at 1 well
    • thunder crash spawned one well initially but as i lead red bars into the after shock more spawned

but any way this is simple kills in super generate a well that matchs your sub class

    Notes :

    • again mod stacking is useless

    Font Of WISDOM

Picking up an elemental well that matches your subclass energy type grants you an temporary significant increase in your intellect, improving the recharge rate of your super.

Translation : Subclass matching wells grants increased intellect.

    Specifics :

    this lasts 30seconds,

this is HARD capped at that 30seconds, regardless of how many you pick up you just reset the timer

EDIT : forgot to mention this is ONLY an intellect buff, and thus only increases the passive regen of super, orbs/kills/etc are percentage based as far as i can remember

EDIT : ehor was able to get some what solid numbers, and says it appears that the buff increases intellect to 100 for the full duration of the buff, as such higher intellect isn't preferred as it lowers the total buff and takes away from other stats.

    Notes IMPORTANT:

    • i was unable to test the increase granted as the only way i could think to test this would be have a teammate generate wells for you
      • this is because kills will decrease your super regen time
      • if anyone has this data i would love to see it.
      • if anyone knows a way i could test this solo i would really want to know
    • due to being unable to get solid numbers i dont know if mod stacking applies
    • i apologise for all the missing info

    Elemental Ordnance

Defeating a Combatant with a grenade spawns an elemental well that matches your subclass energy type

Translation : grenade kills spawn a well.

    Specific's :

    nothing note worthy

apart from there seems to be a cooldown between summons,

    grenade kills = elemental well

    Notes :

    • no mod stacking
    • grenades all share the same cooldown
      • so no top tree striker or Sunbracers spam
    • /\/\ above is wrong grenades have independent cooldowns.
      • the cooldown seems to be about 2seconds
    • i wonder if grenades and super share that cooldown
    • /\/\ again wrong all independent

    Last But not least

    Elemental Charge

Become Charged with light by picking up an elemental well. if the elemental well's element type matches your subclass you gain 2 stacks of charged with light

no translation needed this is exactly as it says.

    Specifics :

this is very clear cut, just remember you NEED something equiped that can burn a charge with light to pick up a charge

i made that mistake, and yeah thought it was busted turns out im an idiot

    Notes ;

    • should have put this at the start no mods stack as far as my testing has shown

    thoughts

TLDR : these mods arnt the best there a GREAT introduction into the combat style mod system and are FAR easier to obtain then the other combat style mods however they have glaring issues such as a lack of PvP function as well as being rather weak

these are nice especially for players wanting to ability spam, in PvE

my biggest issue is the push for aggressive play as the wells spawn where the enemy dies limiting use in high end content.

BUT they feel limp there a great beginners guide to combat style mods but anything they do a charged with light or warmind cell can do and generally better

    as for PVP

i have NO idea why they arnt allowed, why didnt bungie make them spawn/work for PvP

    Stasis

a non issue, its VERY difficult to spawn these with stasis so especially with no competitive stasis weapons, and all grenade kills hard as hell

    • shatter doesn't count and using supers and sometimes be buggy due to how shatter damage and super damage aren't tied together,
    • titans have the greatest ease of summon, but it knee caps the HELL out of the super

    Damage Buff

its 10%, and elemental dependant, making it VERY selective in usage

    Charged with light

maybe, but apart from you know disabling that one mod, if it was broken

it also requires you to spec into summoning these wells, that means at least 2 well mods, and then 1 charged with light, thats at MINIMUM.

i would recommend armaments and ordinance with charged, then sprinkle in high energy fire. (if they worked)

the issue is thats 4 mods and the energy required for them lost, let alone the missing powerful friends or Radiant light

    Thoughts on tweaks

the 2 main points i would bring up are, PvP and Reward VS forgiveness

PvP well i have made my case above

as for the other one, with the wells, picking up an non matching well still grants an benefit. but with the damage and super dont grant anything

    what i would suggest with the damage as an example;

remove the element lock and make it so matching element wells to weapons do more damage.

    • so picking up a arc well will grant non arc weapons the current 10% damage buff
    • picking up a arc well will grant arc weapons a 20% damage buff

then combine that with a duration buff with subclass matching wells.

    • so non matching wells grant the 5sec buff
    • matching wells grant a 10sec buff

this would make running non matching loadouts more friendly BUT still make players lean towards the elemental uniformity

it's just my 2cents on the buff topic, in all honestly i believe that bungie will be expanding on these mods, and i am extremely thankful that these mods are easy to get since it gives me a base to help my friends make mod builds

EDIT : just watched Ehors video and will include any info i missed. if you want to watch it simply search is name and elemental wells

EDIT : i reuploaded this because the initial post had some issues caused by me stuffing stuff up. YES i have cross posted this to r/ Destiny2

I hope bungie keeps expanding these mods.

if you have any info you want to add please DM me or comment it.

if not thanks for reading my error filled data compilation

Adept Impact and Adept swords as a whole are completely useless.

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 07:53 AM PDT

So I got my adept sword from Trials. When you masterwork it, it only increases the impact like it would a regular sword. It doesn't buff all the stats, as it would for other adept weapons.

The only 'up-side' to this being an adept weapon is it can be equipped with adept mods. However as you're about to read, this part isn't useful either.

The adept mod for this sword is adept impact. It gives you +10 impact (which I believe is the same increase that the impact masterwork gives, please correct me if I'm wrong), so you basically have 2 impact masterworks.

Of course the first thing I did is test this out vs major/boss spec. These mods give +7.8% damage to majors and bosses respectively. I tested the numbers on Carl, the same lost sector boss that Ehroar uses, using a single light attack. This boss is a major, so I used major spec as the comparison. The numbers are as follows:

    No mod: 16,302

    Major Spec: 17,568

    Adept Impact: 16,905

Adept impact only offers a 3.7% increase to damage. Now, while This increase applies to all enemies and not just bosses/majors, it's still pathetic. The extra damage to red bars doesn't matter, you're going to be 1-shotting them anyway. You'd be better off equipping a minor spec for that.

This is an ADEPT weapon, and yet you don't get additional bonus stats for masterworking it, and the adept mod gets beaten by normal mods that can be equipped on any other weapon in the game. There is basically no advantage to using it over the non-adept version, and by extension, zero incentive to grind for it in the first place.

That feeling when you get a “god roll” for a weapon that doesn’t click with you at all

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 12:05 PM PDT

Basically when the igneous hammer was the flawless reward I tried to farm it a little, never got a good one

    Aaaaaaaannnnddd

    I f***ing hate this thing

I officially can't aim with it, with every other HC 0 issues

With this one and the waking vigil (let's say in a remote way they have similar aesthetic) nothing, can't hit a single bullet

Someone else discovered this inconsistency in some other gun or I have a personal grudge against this particular weapon model?

Think I found a fix for a Xenophage lost sector bug. Armor piercing rounds

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 02:13 PM PDT

Have just been able to complete this section with a friend using Sacred Providence with AP rounds. Just thought I'd share

EDIT: This works every time, no more than 2 bursts and the slabs will react

Season of the Plague Community Seal

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 10:58 AM PDT

    Hey all!

I just released a new Seal to the community, a small keepsake to remember Season of the Plague by. The files are available for everyone, so if you have a 3D printer you can print it yourself! Really hope y'all like it! :D

A little context, Season of the Plague is a project a group within the Community started and with that came a lot of hype from the community. It inspired tons of artists to create awesome SIVA art and for the past week people have been creating insane stuff! Def worth to take a look at on Twitter! (#SeasonofthePlague)

Can we make the HELM afk timer the same as the Tower?

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 03:04 PM PDT

I don't see any reason why I should get booted as quickly as if I was on a planet/strike/etc when it's a fully functional "social space". If Bungie plans on expanding HELM in the future (twab post? idr) like they say they want to, then it needs a longer afk timer for us to just chill until we want to do something similar to Tower.

P.S.: Add a damn firing range like Tribute Hall please, thx.

Shotguns and Why They Need Quickdraw Re-worked and Reduced In-Air Accuracy.

    Posted: 20 Mar 2021 01:57 PM PDT

EDIT: removed part where i said "reduce in-air accuracy" because its a bit outrageous now that I think about it.

Shotguns having Quickdraw creates a situation where a shotgun that doesn't have Quickdraw is useless. The backlash that came from the re-issuing of Astral Horizon without Quickdraw was so much, even though it had great perks such as Surplus and Demolitionist! This problem also coincides with the low usage rates of smgs and sidearms, as they cannot shoot while sliding and have bad in-air accuracy. True Vanguard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvkFjRYMPog) has spoken about this problem in a HEAVILY controversial video a few months back and Wallah (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8QTgQgkZkI) talked about this as well. You should have to either commit to a primary battle with someone or commit to a shotgun. Now, as I am coming to you with a problem and a solution, the solution creates another problem: what do we do with quickdraw shotguns? We tune each archetype to have different levels of swap and ads speed with quickdraw. Aggressive frames would have the most impact from this, as they are the main problem, gaining only 10 more handling, while rapid-fire frames would gain 50 more handling, etc. What do you think? I know Felwinters is gonna get nerfed as Bungie said about outliers but I think that this problem is not just about Felwinters but shotties in general.
