- This Week At Bungie 3/4/2021
- Daily Questions [2021-03-05]
- Bungie please add a “clown car” emblem in memory of all the fireteam stacking
- Chain Reaction is a great perk, Bungie. Can we get it on an arc fusion rifle? Maybe only the first shot in a full clip?
- Bungie, can you PLEASE add a cutscene gallery to the game?
- spending 5 hammer charges on a 57 rolled armor feels bad
- During the DSC breakdown stream, the devs mentioned that Deep-stone lullaby is called a "lullaby" because the process of becoming an exo is you fall asleep as a human, and awake as an exo. I though that was really cool idea.
- I need to have a word with whoever made The Huckleberry.
- Banshee Is Selling the Sheltering Energy Warmind Cell Mod
- How to Consistently Queue 12 Man Raids and Nightfalls (and FAQs!)
- Hear me out! What if the Clarity Control statue is really 3 Fallen standing on each others’ shoulders with a sheet over them?
- Ghost 'Minimap' concept
- Bungie, good job with those Seasonal Challenges
- Stealth Nerfs need to stop
- Festival of the Lost Armor
- After google translating lots of Fallen names, I’ve discovered that they are just a race of Scandinavian and Eastern European teachers
- It's well-known that Guardians are their own class of combatants (Warmind cells don't work in PvP) so why not just adjust Iceflare Bolts to only give grenade energy on non-guardian kills?
- I... don't hate Competitive. I thought I did, but I just played with two of my clanmates to knock out part of the season challenge, and it was the most fun I've had in game in a while
- Clovis states “The Crypt will be torn open to all,” so what if the next 6 man match-made activity was built around this?
- I really miss doing Menagerie runs.
- Have celerity and bottomless grief be intrinsic perks
- Please let me change my face
- Revert the Changes to Shadebinder’s Iceflare Bolts Aspect. Bring back the Gain Grenade Ability Energy on Frozen Kills.
- Just because you hate pvp doesn't give you a good excuse to throw in comp.
- Gambit's damage scaling feels extremely inconsistent - Can this be addressed at some point?
- Before You Guys Vote For The 2021 Festival Armour, Remember That The Dinosaurs Had a Collapse of Their Own...
Posted: 04 Mar 2021 03:00 PM PST Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/50170 This week at Bungie, we see you. Welcome to the TWAB. If this is your first time reading one of these, welcome and thank you for taking the time. We write one every week to share important info about the game, fun stuff we're doing on the side, and also highlight some cool creations from the community. We know there's a whole internet full of dance videos and cats doing funny stuff, so we appreciate all readers, new and old. Anyways, let's get into it. We've got reports that Guardians are continuing to explore the Glykon, the derelict ship at the heart of the Presage mission. And this week, they're claiming a new Ghost Shell for their efforts. We also introduced a new Tech Blog earlier this week. If you want an in-depth look at the nuts and bolts that make Destiny 2 tick, check out our write up on hunting down a hard to find bug that was affecting bounty progress. The big buzz around the community this week has been players finding out a way to cram four fireteams in activities meant for one. We've been watching the 12-player raid hype and are glad you're enjoying yourselves. We aren't rushing out a fix for this and it's totally fine if you want to try it out and have some fun. Just keep in mind that we didn't create these activities expecting a clown car of Guardians to roll up, so you may experience some weirdness. We are planning on fixing this before Grandmaster Nightfall's begin on March 16, but you are free to party up until the fix goes live. International Women's DayI'm going to step aside and hand it over to our Women@Bungie Inclusion Club to share some things we have planned for Women's History Month!
Nothing Personal KidWe've heard feedback that enemies are a bit more "teleporty" since the launch of Beyond Light – especially now in activities like Battlegrounds and Gambit. We've noticed this happening as well and have been investigating. There are several reasons why AI can teleport in Destiny, for example, we would rather teleport a boss that is stuck behind a door than have a player be unable to finish a mission. However, we believe that most of the recent uptick has been caused by new issues with some of our networking logic. You may remember a TWAB from last September where we mentioned some under-the-hood changes we would be making in the 3.0.0 update and how we expected there might be bugs and side effects. One of the big changes we made is that previously we had two "streams" of network traffic: One for gameplay simulation stuff like AI, and another for handling activity stuff like playing music, showing mission objectives, playing dialogue, etc. With update 3.0.0 we combined this traffic into a single stream. Think of it as having two highways for different types of cars, and then one day you close one highway and plan to have one wider highway to handle all the cars. Unfortunately, we underestimated how much additional traffic there would be, and we need to do some additional work here to add lanes. Another thing adding to the traffic are the tons of Cabal enemies wielding flamethrowers in Season of the Chosen – especially in Battlegrounds. Continuing with the highway analogy, flamethrowers are like tanker trucks. They're notoriously taxing and in this case are creating a lot of network usage. We have some improvements to their efficiency that should help, in an update scheduled for later this month. As many of you have noticed, we created encounters chock-full of enemies in Season of the Chosen. We've heard that it's super fun to take on large amounts of enemies, but spawning all of this AI quickly, especially in some of the Battlegrounds, may also be contributing to the teleporting issues as networking pipelines try to handle the load. Spawning enemies rapidly is like a big sporting event driving up traffic. We're working on improvements for how we handle network traffic and think it will reduce the amount of teleporting. Of course we'll never completely eliminate it, because player-facing teleporting can be caused by internet hiccups, but we hope to significantly reduce the frequency. We're also looking at some targeted content fixes where enemies are spawned into a bad place and teleport because of issues with their pathing. Deep Stone Deep DivesYesterday, we fired up the streaming gear and showcased the Deep Stone Crypt raid. It was a great time as our developers provided commentary and behind-the-scenes insight while our fireteam battled through the boss fights. Did you miss it? It's OK. We saved you a link. Watch the whole thing here. That's not all. If you already watched the stream and want more, we published an article with interviews with the devs and an even deeper dive into the Deep Stony Crypt covering a few things we didn't mention during the stream. This was fun to put together and we hope you enjoyed it. Let us know how what you think and if you would like to see more of these in the future. Don't BOO... VoteWe're rapidly approaching spring but are already planning for Festival of the Lost later this year. We're excited to share previews of two concepts we have for Eververse which can be purchased for Silver or earned via Bright Dust. Check them out! Movie Monsters VS Dinosaurs! Two larger-than-life legends battle for control over this year's Festival of the Lost. The universe isn't big enough for both of them and they have only one goal: Winning your vote. Now you might be thinking, "Hey, that dinosaur has some pretty good policy ideas." But maybe the Movie Monster charging towards you as you fill out your ballot is making you nervous. We get it, it's a high-pressure situation. Now choose! No matter who wins, there will be candy. VSBoth are awesome and we're having a tough time choosing which one to use this year. We decided to give the community an opportunity to pick which set they like best! To vote just visit this link and fill out the brief survey. It's that easy. Deadline for voting is 3/08/2021 at 6 PM PST. We will announce the winner in a future TWAB. Prime GamingLast week, we added new rewards that are available through Prime Gaming. Sign up here and link your Bungie.net account. Once you're signed up, you can claim your rewards by visiting Amanda Holliday in the hangar portion of the Tower. This month, we are offering an Imperial Ghost Projection that is tied into the theme of Season of the Chosen. Here are the full rewards for this month! Imperial Projection - Legendary Ghost Projection Six Shooter - Exotic Emote Warrior's Steed - Exotic Sparrow The Oviraptor - Exotic Ship We'll be back with new cool stuff for you to claim next month with our next shipment of Prime Gaming rewards. Bungie please add a “clown car” emblem in memory of all the fireteam stacking Posted: 04 Mar 2021 07:13 PM PST You did it for crucible laser tag when that was broken! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Mar 2021 08:40 AM PST I just feel like that type of weapon world work really well with Chain Reaction. [link] [comments] |
Bungie, can you PLEASE add a cutscene gallery to the game? Posted: 04 Mar 2021 05:16 PM PST As the title suggests! You guys make some of the most amazing, cinematic cutscenes that do an amazing job at really luring you in. But when I see my character looking like a killer clown from outer space it really takes away from fully being engrossed in it. And honestly having to go in and replay full story missions just to see the cutscenes with armor of your choice is pretty tiring. It would be really cool if there was a menu option or even a kiosk that lets you rewatch character cutscenes with whatever gear you have equipped. Just thought it would be a really good addition to this already great game! [link] [comments] |
spending 5 hammer charges on a 57 rolled armor feels bad Posted: 04 Mar 2021 09:29 AM PST It takes ~ 3+ runs to gain 5 hammer charges and to craft a piece of "high stat rolled" armor with a 57 roll (or anything in the 50s) just does not feel rewarding. Most players will not use this armor and will trash it right away. a 22 discipline (or any single stat) is not worthwhile if the remaining stats are all 7 ... you put a lot of content and coding in to these hammer, helm, and battleground events but please make the armor worth crafting and using charges for. 5 charges should be worth a 60+ stat armor piece when focusing a certain statistic [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Mar 2021 01:53 PM PST During the space walk section of the stream, the devs talk about their inspiration for making the Deep Stone Lullaby and how it got its name. They stated that the way you become an exo is that you fall asleep as your consciousness transfers into an exo body. I thought that was a very cool idea and makes a lot more sense now. Its not just because its a slower and peaceful song. [link] [comments] |
I need to have a word with whoever made The Huckleberry. Posted: 04 Mar 2021 08:35 AM PST Whoever created this weapon makes me extremely annoyed. Seriously, you're going to give it a perk/catalyst that makes it never needed to be reloaded, yet you give one of the coolest reload animations on an exotic weapon in the game? I hate you. Banshee Is Selling the Sheltering Energy Warmind Cell Mod Posted: 04 Mar 2021 09:07 AM PST Collecting a Warmind Cell grants you an overshield Costs 5 Energy and Arc Affinity to equip. Very useful for activities where survivability is key. [link] [comments] |
How to Consistently Queue 12 Man Raids and Nightfalls (and FAQs!) Posted: 04 Mar 2021 05:14 PM PST Hello everyone! I'm sure a lot of folks have heard by now that we are able to break the limits of fireteam capacity across activities - this means more than 3 fireteam members in a nightfall or more than 6 folks in a raid, like so! However, if you and your friends have tried to queue up together, you may have found that it can be very difficult to successfully time it so that the joining fireteam joins the hosting fireteam at the exact millisecond moment that the activity starts. Through lots of trial and error, we've stumbled on what seems to be the most consistent method to make this work more easily - instructions here.
Text breakdown of steps: 1) Make two fireteams with random hosts, who can be located anywhere geographically. 2) Give the host ability in each fireteam to the 2 people who are located closest to each other geographically. 3) Have the "joining" fireteam join in on the "activity-launching" fireteam with 1-2 seconds remaining on the activity launch countdown timer. Explanation: Switching the hosts in each fireteam widens the sweet spot for joining significantly, and having the final fireteam hosts be located close to one another allows the teams to join quickly within that lengthened window.
FAQs Q: Does the "activity-launching" fireteam have to have a free spot? ie: fireteam of 2 people launching a nightfall, or 5 people launching a raid?
Q: Is the timing exact on when to join?
Q: Does this work on console too?
Q: Do the hosts have to be on each other's friends list?
Let me know if you have any questions at all, happy farming everyone! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Mar 2021 02:50 AM PST I created a rough idea of what a 'Minimap' could look like as one of the sub menus when you bring up your Ghost. Sometimes I feel this would be much easier to see more localised objectives without opening the main map. What do you all think? EDIT: Wow! Thanks everyone! Great to see others feel the same way :) here's another link to the image - D2 Minimap [link] [comments] |
Bungie, good job with those Seasonal Challenges Posted: 04 Mar 2021 03:40 AM PST Title. I've been seamlessly playing since the start of Season 13, hour or two a day, and i found myself today at level 90 of the battle pass - just playing different activities and not minding bounties at all. This is a huge relief - not thinking "did i get those damn bounties from all of the tower?" while launching anything (also, i've heard you can now get those bounties through the mobile app - truly, a time of great innovation!) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Mar 2021 10:58 AM PST Bungie needs to be more vocal about when they nerf certain things like recently they nerfed surprise attack and Reactive pulse. :( I enjoyed running these two mods. What are your guys thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Mar 2021 04:11 PM PST The community has until 3/8/21 at 6pm PST to vote between a monster armor set or a dinosaur armor set for Festival of the Lost this fall. You can vote in the TWAB here and scroll down to the bottom where it asks you to click on a surveymonkey link. I cannot post the direct link because either:
b. I am a fool and incorrect vote dino or i will find you [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Mar 2021 07:24 AM PST Skolas- Schools in Latvian Skriveks- Writing in Norwegian or Swedish (allegedly) Siviks- Civil in Estonian (allegedly) Praksis- Practice in Danish (allegedly) Yes, this is a joke, but it's interesting that 4 different Fallen names translate to education related terms according to google translate. However, the only translation that I think is correct is Skolas. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Mar 2021 10:16 AM PST Also, why not decrease damage dealt and slow duration of Withering Blade only against Guardians, so it doesn't affect PvE? What's with everything being nerfed across the board when there's only a slight problem in PvP? Balancing in PvP vs PvE has come up again and again as a problem, between these two, Sleeper Simulant, Ruinous Effigy, Nova Warp, and countless other examples. But if you can adjust damage dealt/effects against Guardians independently of other combatants, then why not bring the damage numbers for these weapons and abilities back where they used to be in PvE, and lower them in PvP? This is a technical question, no salt. I was hoping that the Bungie Tech blog would answer this question sometime. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Mar 2021 05:01 PM PST Seriously. I played 4 games, lost one of them 1-4, and won 3 of them 4-3, and two of them were 0-3 comebacks. I had so, so much fun. I got almost no rewards I cared about, but the satisfaction of predicting, then trapping and killing stasis hunters and behemoths was like stunning and killing champions in the nightfall, but exponentially more fun. Playing competitive, with friends is just... wow. If trials was survival, I think more people would play it. Just sayin [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Mar 2021 01:09 PM PST As far as I'm concerned, the raid Deep Stone Crypt only brushes the surface of the actual facility itself, given the fact that nearly half of it takes place in space. We've seen the location where Clarity Control was made, but not where people upload themselves into Exos. If the Dark Future lore book is to be somewhat followed, the Drifter might head there eventually. Anyway, Clovis addressing how the Crypt is now exposed and must be defended has got me wondering on some things. It seems likely that there'll be further development on that location in the future, what this development may be I do not know. But perhaps it could mean that a new 6 player match made activity, similar to sundial, could be deployed here? With new bosses rotating each week, or quests tied to participating in it. I personally believe it's the perfect opportunity and location to develop this beloved match made mode. Thoughts? Suggestions? Discussion? I want to know what you guys have to say. Edit: words, grammar. [link] [comments] |
I really miss doing Menagerie runs. Posted: 04 Mar 2021 06:59 AM PST It wasnt that challenging nor very lengthy but I just really enjoyed having a targeted loot farm that was fun to play. Battlegrounds doesnt come close for me, it feels like a chore and the rewards are poor by comparison. Menagerie felt just right in that regard. Its a shame that bungie just removed it instead of updating it with new loot and encounters. [link] [comments] |
Have celerity and bottomless grief be intrinsic perks Posted: 04 Mar 2021 04:27 AM PST "Must be nice, the only palindrome i have has bottomless grief" - fireteam member when discussing perks on our palis. Endgame playlist specific perks should not be decidedly undesirable. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Mar 2021 10:17 PM PST I love my main, I really do. But she's hideous because I gave her a skull tattoo and neon hair that I am greatly regretting right now. Don't make me delete her Bungie, just add some kind of editor to Eververse or something. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Mar 2021 06:54 AM PST Iceflare Bolts used to have a hidden perk that allows you to gain some Grenade Ability energy for every Frozen target you kill: And in a recent Update, it was nerfed by having the Grenade Regeneration removed from the game. Shadebinder is not as powerful now compared to the other Stasis Subclass. Isn't Shadebinder meant to be a crowd control subclass? Having faster access to my Grenades makes the Shadebinder more unique over the other classes. Why is the Cosmic Ice Wizard getting punished for casting more Cosmic Ice Magic while the Behemoth can fly using an ice gauntlet and the Revenant can fulfill his fantasy as an Ice Ninja? Why must you hurt Warlocks? We don't have a shattering ability like the Hunter's Shatterdive, which is a literally a better Dawnblade's Phoenix Dive, okay fine. We can't air dash like the Behemoth, okay fine. At least don't touch our Grenade regeneration... [link] [comments] |
Just because you hate pvp doesn't give you a good excuse to throw in comp. Posted: 04 Mar 2021 01:01 PM PST One game away from 5500, I had a pve teammate who threw every round (jumped off map) and ate up lives. You should only throw if you are a 3 stack. There are still people who take pvp seriously. This type of behavior was glorified in trials a couple weeks ago but you should be banned for doing this in comp. [link] [comments] |
Gambit's damage scaling feels extremely inconsistent - Can this be addressed at some point? Posted: 04 Mar 2021 01:41 PM PST Ever since its release, I've noticed with Gambit that the damage scaling seems to be really off and inconsistent. One minute, you're tearing certain enemies to shreds with relative ease, the next minute even an Acolyte or Shank is a bullet sponge dishing out half your health worth of damage in a couple of shots. That isn't even to mention the wildly inconsistent yellow and orange bars, who will go from tanking multiple blows from heavy weapons and taking you down in one spray to dying to a half-mag dump of an SMG. Another thing I've noticed is that perks such as Rampage and Kill Clip will sometimes have a huge effect on enemies, but will other times increase your damage by 2 or 3 hit points at most. No matter how high or low your power is, or what kind of stat build you have, it seems to generally be the same issue. Will this ever be addressed, or at the very least could we be told how the damage system works in Gambit? It feels completely random at this point and your match seemingly depends entirely on how strong/weak the game felt like making your enemies. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Mar 2021 09:37 PM PST I want to take a moment to tell you guys about our lords and saviours, the Dinosaurs. Dinosaurs roamed the earth like 65 million years ago or some shit. Unlike the world of Destiny, the dinosaurs were wiped out during their own Collapse 65 million years ago, if it weren't for them, our world wouldn't been plunged into its own Dark Age, instead, we got The Ice Age. What better way to honour the sacrifice of the dinosaurs than to vote for the Dinosaur Armour set for Festival of The Lost 2021, and wear their designs with pride and honour as respect for the dead. I mean...it's called Festival of The Lost, right? Why not honour what we actually lost. Vote Dinosaurs. [link] [comments] |
