    Trials of Osiris is LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

Bungie you said it yourself: "we found that a trigger condition that relies on failure generally feels pretty bad" now please consider reworking The Stag.

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 11:32 AM PDT

For those out of the know The Stag is an Exotic Warlock helmet that gives massive amount of ability (rift) energy when you take critical damage, it also drops your rift automatically... when you die.

In yesterdays TWAB, Bungie told us the perks Celerity and Bottomless Grief are being reworked because "we found that a trigger condition that relies on failure generally feels pretty bad".

This sentence sums up The Stag's existence ever since it was added to the game. It requires you to be playing so close with death that there's the risk you could die and your teammate has a handy rift to support them as they revive you/wait for your return.

Some ideas to make it a more viable exotic:

    • Extra rift charge
    • Rifts are bigger
    • Rifts can be cast faster
    • Rifts last longer
    • Rifts move with you
    • Taking damage (regular damage not critical) makes rift charge faster
    • Hold ability button to turn rift into a throwable (good to help team-mates in fire), the healing rift doesn't heal instantly so this won't perform better than Divine Protection.
    • Healing rifts now buffs damage at 50% rate of an empowering rift, empowering rift heals at 50% rate of healing rift.

I like when Ghosts are characters that we interact with.

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 03:13 PM PDT

In Season of the Hunt, it was really cool to talk to Glint. We rarely speak with Ghosts other than our own, save for Sagira (may she rest in peace) he's the only ghost we've spoken to besides our own in years. I'm not complaining we didn't see more of him in Chosen, but it's made me realize how little we actually interact with Ghosts other than our own. Ghosts are (as far as i'm concerned) people too, with their own personalities and opinions, and yet we've only ever spoken to 3. There are so many Ghosts still looking for their future Guardian, and yet we don't see any ingame. It's really a minor thing, but I think it would be cool to see more people's ghosts talking, and them generally playing roles in the stories Destiny tells.

Since it was just April Fools, I want to remind everyone of the joke Bungie pulled with the D1 vendors

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 04:12 AM PDT

In Destiny 1, you could buy guns from vendors in the Tower. IIRC, there were Crucible guns, Vanguard guns, Faction guns, etc.

When a new expansion came out, the guns the vendors were selling were updated with new guns.

At first, there was a hand cannon called The Devil You Know that was pretty popular as being a fine weapon. (Perhaps not the vendor version, but still. It could drop with random rolls.)

When the vendor loot rotated, there was now a gun called The Devil You Don't, which was...just way worse. Minimum magazine size, for one thing. It was a definite downgrade from the previous.

All so that we would say The Devil You Know is better than The Devil You Don't.

Bungie gave us a crappy gun to make a pun. At this point, I don't know if I'm angry or proud.

The Xenophage quest is not that hard this season, everyone who has been stalling on it should go out and get it. (Unless you are playing against me in Gambit, then is sucks and only losers use it)

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 05:03 PM PDT

After a year of procrastination I finally decided I needed the xenophage to help get those 50 gambit wins for my gilded title (I've gotten 5 bottom dollars but only have 37 wins).

I thought it would be about impossible to finish the final boss solo after watching several guides, but it wasn't bad at all. I think that anyone who puts a little effort towards it can get it done. Here are some tips:

    • The wall puzzles in the moon lost sectors are a little messed up right now. They are able to be done though. I just used an auto rifle and kept shooting the symbols until they finally registered. I only had to redo a lost sector once after messing up and shooting too many times.
    • If you are a Pit newbie just take it slow at first. There is no time limit and the first section can be cleared just fine if you take your time. I use a sniper and the wish ender, clearing out the ogres from afar.
    • The final boss room was about 75% easier than I expected. I went in thinking I'd die within 30 seconds, but ended up clearing it the first try. The boss stayed up top, so I was able to go the lower area to avoid him/her. Make sure to deal with the adds and do boss damage when a good element comes up. The boss did not seem to be super aggressive.

I'll admit I'm probably an above average pve player; I do solo the dungeons each week. But if can get it on my first try then an average player can do it after a couple tries.

I've hated the xenophage almost every gambit game and cursed how it was out of reach for a player like me. I Was wrong. Don't be like me and avoid trying for over a year. Go out and get it!

We have plenty of ways to clear rooms of ads now, bungie. Making handcannons actually kill things isn’t going to break the meta.

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 07:15 AM PDT

Look, I get it. We were actually busted in terms of power at the start of Shadowkeep, and along with wanting to sell finishers, you wanted to lower our killing ability in PvE. That's fine. Unfortunately, we have many more guns that clean the floor now before, even after the precision damage nerf. All buffing ham cannons will do is make them usable. Here is a little list of nice items people will probably use to clear 10x more ads than a Fatebringer with a reverted damage nerf ever will.

    •Trinity ghoul with catalyst

    •Warmind Cell weapons

    •That funky smg with frenzy

•My Forward Path with Multikill Clip that I used during Season of Arrivals

    •Traveler's Chosen (damaged)

•Pulse Rifles, because using hand cannons for unstoppable in GM Nightfalls lmao

Look Bungie, you have two options here. You keep hand cannons how they are, and Fatebringer is an absolute joke when it releases, pretty much tarnishing VOG since the weapon it's most known for is unusable. Or you can give hand cannons the PvE buff they desperately need, and people still stick to the great weapons we have currently, but have the option to use a hand cannon without getting a negative KD in PvE.

    Edit: 140 RPM specifically

It would be fantastic if you could put which element match game shields are on endgame content selection screen to help people load up easier and newer players !

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 08:27 AM PDT

This would be most appreciated to help every player feel more ready for anything in Nightfalls and Masters and all the harder content :)

I'm only running Bastion because I'm a fusion main who ALSO enjoys using energy primaries sometimes.

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 04:06 PM PDT

Listen, I get it. You think Bastion is a cheesy weapon. It can one-hit supers, it can kill up to 20m with ease, it can steal yo' girl, it charges faster than Erenchill. So you see me running Bastion and think, what a cheesy motherfucker. I'm gonna bag the shit outta him every chance I get.

But I'm gonna be straight with you. I'm only running Bastion because fusions are the only special weapon class that makes sense to me, ya know? And yeah, I could mow you down with my god-roll Erenchill, and yeah, I have gone wild recently with my new favorite Main Ingredient, but sometimes a man wants to run a Trustee or a Palindrome or even the occasional Igneous Hammer. And APPARENTLY it BREAKS mah IMMERSION to have KINETIC FUSION RIFLES, even though the only thing preventing us from being immersed in that wet dream of a future is Bungie's insistence on making fusion rifles the last special weapon to be slot-locked. So here I am, forced to run Bastion, even though you shotgun mains get Felwinter AND Astral Horizon. I'm baked into the cheese, even as you sniper mains get Supremacy AND Frozen Orbit. Hell, even you grenade launcher mains have... uhhh... the same legitimate complaint that I have, now that I think about it.

In summary, suck it up and GIVE ME LEGENDARY KINETIC FUSIONS BUNGIE (and also kinetic breech-loader grenade launchers, because Militia's Birthright has been sunset and there's no replacement for it) please.

Iron Banner would be better if it got new weapons and armor every year

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 06:25 PM PDT

Seriously, why am I grinding for the same armor I got back in vanilla or forsaken/forsaken seasons?

When did we get a new weapon from Saladin again? I mean sure 3 new iron banner specific perks are cool, but it's not like that changes the whole damn experience.

Now that transmog is right around the corner, does it even matter what armor they bring back? I mean shit even the playlist activities got new armor before iron banner did.

Not to mention the lack of an artificial incentive to even keep playing now that sunset has been sunsat, what's even the point?

No new cosmetics, no new armor, no new weapons, not even new mods.

Comp and IB really need attention; Whether that's new mechanics or cosmetics IDC, they haven't changed since forsaken and it's especially noticable with all the changes that have come to Valor and Trials.

Small side rant; the last time we got new weapon mods was back in season 5 (season of the forge) and I'm not counting adept mods because that's a whole different ecosystem. I really feel a weapons 2.0 in the same vain as Ghosts 2.0 is long overdue. I'm not saying moving perks to mod slots or anything, but having RNG be a deciding factor on a masterwork and only having one mod slot especially on Adept and raid weapons feels so restricting and I feel it becomes a chore with alot of new weapons to get not only the right roll, but also the right masterworks? Those bitches were able to be rerolled back in warmind and early builds of forsaken that Bungie themselves showed off leading up to forsaken....what happened?

I know the plates are overflowing and Covid still isn't helping things, but man it would be nice to see these things done before 2025.

It's really lame that kills in the boss room of this weeks NF don't count towards anything.

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 06:47 PM PDT

I got there having 48/50 sidearm or linear fusion rifle kills. I figured no problem, I'd get the two kills easy. Nope, they don't count just like the Fanatic boss room. Why Bungie? Are you really that worried that people are going to farm the Proving Grounds NF boss room for kills ? C'mon.

Edit: Why the downvotes? You're against the adds counties towards bounties and weekly challenges?

    Let us masterwork the Khvostov

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 02:28 PM PDT

I understand Bungie's fear, their apprehension to allow us to make the strongest gun even stronger, but think about it. You load into trials and see a team of full masterworked Khovostov's and you instantly die of fear. But the best is yet to come, because a masterworked weapon lets you add a kill tracker, allowing you to see the massacre that one guardian's Khovostov has made. I rest my case

Hey Bungie, is it possible to rework the Borealis catalyst now that the element changing animation no longer needs a reload?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 04:44 PM PDT

I thank you all at Bungie for changing the Hard Light/Borealis element cycle animation, especially since Ionic Return would go away if you wanted to cycle to another element.

The current catalyst for Borealis increases reload speed by a pretty good amount, but unfortunately it doesn't really change much since reloading is no longer required to cycle through elements. Like with a few other catalysts, would it be possible for you all to rework the catalyst so that the buff given is something more... substantial? It would make this gun so much more fun and better. :)

    Keeping Special Ammo Between Rounds

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 07:45 PM PDT

So this hasn't really been brought up much as far as I know but I've always found it a bit strange that the winning team in a survival or elimination round is allowed to stack their ammo for the next round.

Am I the only one who thinks this is kind of a fatal flaw for a round based mode? Allowing the winning team to snowball further just seems weird but it doesn't seem to get mentioned a lot.

Adept Big Ones is a great mod addition. How about an Adept Little Ones too?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 07:26 AM PDT

Since most of the adept weapons currently are primary ammo weapons, you won't really get much benefit out of Big Ones the majority of the time.

And since Big Ones is just a combination of two other PvE focused mods, I think a potential Little Ones can do the exact same thing.

I think the best combo would be Minor Spec + Backup Mag for maximum red-bar murder potential.

And just like Big Ones there would also be no power creep or advantage in crucible either as there would be no benfit to using this over just Backup Mag outside PvE.

Whatever team developed Presage quest do all story quests from now on.

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 10:43 PM PDT

What a amazing engaging quest. Me and my friend did it legit and figured everything out. Was the perfect challenge and puzzle solving with no gimmicks. I had more fun doing that mission then the dozen times with the Raids and stupid gimmicky mechanics.

The best part about the mission is the atmosphere. Almost was like a first person dead space. So good and felt like an actual Story mission.

If all future Story missions could be this quality it would be a step up for Destiny.

In honour of April's fools, let's remember Bungie's biggest crime in D1. Auto rifle nerf

    Posted: 02 Apr 2021 07:34 AM PDT

We all at the time thought this was a joke.

For those not there, iron banner rolled around and if I remember correctly, xur had sold Suros the week before and IB had an auto rifle bounty.

Naturally everyone used Suros, bungie reacted by nerfing all auto rifles! Making them useless (until doctrine arrived few months later)

To make things worse, a while later they announced an auto rifle damage buff, everyone was excited! There were things mentioned like a 40% (or was it 4%?) buff.

When it came around, people were confused because nothing had changed.

Bungie responsed by announcing they meant a 0.04% buff and had made a typo!
