    This Week At Bungie 4/1/2021

This week at Bungie, we have modifications on our mind.

Guardians are further proving their worth as Proving Grounds has become the featured Nightfall strike. We've also added it to the Vanguard strike playlist so all players will now have a chance to tackle the giant tank on Nessus. So, if you haven't had a chance to log in this week, it's a great time to load up the game. If you've been playing, you're probably waiting for me to tell you something you don't already know, so let's get to it.

    Gear Up

With the return of Ada-1 to the Tower in Season 14, we are introducing some small quality of life upgrades to a couple of our Tower vendors. First, in addition to being the primary vendor associated with the upcoming transmog system also known as Armor Synthesis, Ada-1 will become the vendor who delivers a variety of armor-focused items and upgrades. Each day, Ada-1 will now sell one randomly chosen armor mod from the general and armor slot (Helmet, Gauntlets, etc.) groups, and one randomly chosen Combat Style armor mod (chosen from the Charged with Light and Warmind Cell mod groups), which should make it easier for players who missed these in the past to get their hands on some of the armor mods from Year 3.

Additionally, on a weekly basis, Ada-1 will sell one armor set randomly chosen from the World Loot Pool, with a stat roll that also changes on a weekly basis. Finally, Ada-1 will also sell armor upgrade materials (Upgrade Modules, Enhancement Prisms, and Ascendant Shards) in the same way that the Banshee-44 does right now.

With Ada-1 taking on armor responsibilities, Banshee-44 is getting a few revisions to his inventory as well. The Gunsmith will no longer sell armor mods, but will retain the rest of the items that he currently sells. Additionally, on a weekly basis, Banshee-44 will sell a selection of six weapons, randomly chosen from the weapons in the World Loot Pool (two weapons each from the Kinetic, Energy, and Power slots) with perk rolls on each weapon that are randomly determined at the start of the week. So, at each weekly reset when you log in, you can head to the Tower and see what the Gunsmith is selling, and maybe pick up a weapon you've been looking for with a roll you are excited to use.

    Last One Standing

We have received some feedback on perks like Celerity and Bottomless Grief from players asking that they be added as intrinsic bonuses to Adept weapons. Weapons Feature Lead Chris Proctor is here to share some of our philosophy on these perks and a few changes we are planning.

Chris Proctor: When we launched Trials of Osiris, we made a new origin-specific perk for Trials weapons: Celerity. This is a wildly powerful perk (+100 aim assist, handling, and reload – plus reduced recoil and spread – this perk is nothing to sneeze at.) with very low uptime.

We intended this to be great for clutch "last Guardian standing" plays in Trials specifically. And when it's active it IS very strong, but we found that a trigger condition that relies on failure generally feels pretty bad, and the power it grants doesn't negate that feeling. Players never like betting against themselves or their teams. Not only that, but the perk is useless outside of Trials (and a couple of other activities).

Sidenote: The Deep Stone Crypt origin perks were well-received, so while Celerity specifically didn't hit the mark, the idea still has legs.

In Beyond Light we introduced Adept weapons to Trials, wanting to try out a new system for aspirational weapons in a small set before rolling them out more broadly. We had three goals for Adept weapons:

    • Give players a tangible reward to aspire towards, with custom visuals and a unique name, letting them flex a little.
    • Give players who've earned an Adept weapon a minor Power boost and some gameplay customization options (in the form of the improved Masterwork granting +3 to all other stats, and the ability to equip Adept mods).
    • Do not make players who can't earn these weapons feel like they can't compete with players who have them (coughNot Forgottencough).

We've seen all of your suggestions to make Celerity and Bottomless Grief intrinsic to Trials and Nightfall weapons, or only to the Adept versions, and I wanted to touch on this idea.

Thematically this is a cool idea, and adds to the flavor that these perks can give their sources, but there are three problems:

    • For performance reasons, we have a maximum number of perks that can run on a character at a time. Legendary weapons have a threshold per weapon, and many of them are right at the limit - adding a perk on top of that without taking one away causes Bad Things to Happen, in the form of random parts of perks turning off.
    • Adding a new perk column to weapons from a specific source introduces power creep, and pretty soon we'd end up having to do the same to weapons from other sources.
    • Adding a new perk column to ONLY Adept weapons would work against the third goal of Adept weapons, and we believe would feel bad for players dying to Adept weapons that are able to stack Celerity with things like Outlaw and Rampage.

In Season 14, we're making the following changes to Trials and Nightfall weapons, and their Adept versions (Note: This only applies to new drops of these weapons, not previous drops.):

    • Nightfall weapons:

      • Bottomless Grief grants a permanently active +30 to Magazine.
      • Bottomless Grief is now a fixed alternate perk in the left column on Adept drops of Nightfall weapons (i.e. you can switch between that and the randomly rolled perk in the inspection screen).
    • Trials weapons:

      • Celerity grants a permanently active +20 to both Reload and Handling.
      • Celerity is now a fixed alternate perk in the right column on Adept drops of Trials weapons (i.e. you can switch between that and the randomly rolled perk in the inspection screen).

Moving forward, we're not done with origin perks, and hope to have something that better achieves our goals in a future release.

AFTER ALL, IT'S A DUNGEON CRAWL

We just put out another Hotfix today. Our Player Support Team has the latest on what was addressed and what known issues are still being tracked.

    This is their report.

KNOWN ISSUES LIST #HELP FORUMS BUNGIE HELP TWITTER

    PROVING GROUNDS NIGHTFALL

Earlier this week, the Proving Grounds strike entered the Nightfall playlist. When the Season began, we revealed our Seasonal calendar which showed that on March 30th the Proving Grounds strike would enter the Vanguard Strikes playlist for all players.

We failed to acknowledge on the calendar that Beyond Light and the Season Pass would be required to play the Nightfall version of Proving Grounds. All Nightfalls require ownership of their associated expansion to access, with examples for previous expansion-gated Nightfalls versus free Nightfalls below:

    • Free to all players: The Arms Dealer, The Devil's Lair, The Disgraced, Exodus Crash, Fallen S.A.B.E.R, The Inverted Spire, The Insight Terminus, Lake of Shadows
    • Requires Forsaken: Broodhold, The Corrupted, The Hollowed Lair, Warden of Nothing
    • Requires Shadowkeep: The Scarlet Keep
    • Requires Beyond Light: The Glassway, Proving Grounds

We're working with our teams to update the Season of the Chosen calendar and future calendars to better reflect this distinction.

    GUARDIAN GAMES GHOST SHELLS

With the launch of Patch 3.1.1, it was discovered that player's Guardian Games Ghost Shells were being replaced with other Ghost Shells, and would disappear when equipped. This issue is now resolved.

To address any lost currencies resulting from this issue, players will be granted a Masterworked version of each of the Rival Guardian Games Ghost Shells currently unlocked in their collections.

Players with full Ghost Shell inventories will have their Shells sent to the Postmaster and should pick them up before they get pushed out by other items and are no longer available.

    FLAWLESS DUNGEON

With the launch of Beyond Light some changes were made to how flawless Triumphs were rewarded for dungeon completions. While previously flawless Triumphs would be awarded on an individual basis for not dying during the activity, they now award on a fireteam basis instead. This means that every member of the fireteam will need to have no deaths during the activity for the flawless Triumph to be awarded for each dungeon.

    CROSS SAVE REMINDER

Prior to altering their Cross Save setups players should keep in mind that Cross Save does not permanently transfer characters or account data between platforms. In order to access your Cross Save characters on a different platform than they originate Cross Save must remain active. There is no possible way to permanently transfer account data between different platforms.

To get started with Cross Save, please click here.

    WEEKLY KNOWN ISSUES

While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:

    • Players can continuously respawn in the electric wall in Presage and become trapped.
    • Players may become stuck under moving platforms in the Proving Grounds strike.
    • The Wanted: Arcadian Chord bounty is no longer available from Spider.
    • Xaras, Greed of Xivu Arath is displaying as named 'Fallen Walker' in Korean.
    • Players using Wish Ender may not be able to see through walls when standing in a Warlock's rift.

For a full list of emergent issues in Destiny 2, players can review our Known Issues article. Players who observe other issues should report them to our #Help forum.

Alright, let's go over this one more time. This is the section of the TWAB where we pick our favorite UGC. That's user generated content, which is just a fancy term for cool stuff made by the community. Now, you might be asking, "Cozmo, what do I get for making a cool video that gets featured in the TWAB?" I'm glad you asked. Everyone featured here will receive a special emblem in game to show off their cinematography skills. Let's see who won this week.

We don't got no April Fools jokes for you. It's a fairly light TWAB this week anyway so padding it out with some fake story about how Master Rahool is getting his own record deal didn't feel right... ok, now that I just typed that, it actually sounds hilarious. Sorry we didn't think of it sooner.

Have fun hunting your own personal Palindrome random roll this week.

Whenever Bungie adjusts Light subclasses to match Stasis, please please please don't make it as much of a painful slog to unlock everything

    Posted:

Seriously, who's idea was it to have like, a billion slow, grindy annoying quests to make your subclass function to full capacity? I do not want to do that with Light subclasses. Nor future Darkness ones.

Seriously, I've had Beyond Light for maybe two weeks and I've yet to finish all of them purely because I get so bored unlocking the aspects and fragments

Hunter Arc Subclasses needs a ranged option.

    Posted:

All 3 of the Hunter Arc subclass supers are very similar and all short ranged. There are so many strike and raid bosses where melee range is not an option that one of the arc subclasses should be ranged. Since the game already has a throwing animation for the Valkyrie from Warmind, it could be reused to create a Javelin arc super that would fill the need.

In honor of this, the 1st day of April, I have come up with some TOTALLY AWESOME weapon perk ideas that Bungie should TOTALLY AWESOMELY implement!

    Posted:

Imagine how FAST these would get nerfed!!

Wild Goose Chase - Shooting an enemy causes them to take damage

Blissful Ignorance - Removes all damage numbers when firing this weapon

End of the Line - Upon firing the last bullet in the magazine, weapon manually reloads

On the Bright Side - Bullets in the first half of the magazine deal 100% damage at the cost of 100% damage reduction to all bullets in the last half

Greener Pastures - Shooting an enemy causes them to deal double damage (stacks up to five times)

Tiny Bore - Reduce weapon damage by 90%, but gain unlimited range (Perfect for swords!)

My Finger Slipped - The first round in the magazine always misses (Only available on rocket launchers and breach loading grenade launchers)

Flip a Coin - 50% of the time, this weapon deals 100% damage

Gentle Flower - This weapon has unlimited bloom when firing

Eagle Eye - Removes weapon reticle when aiming down sight

Salt in the Wound - Take additional damage from enemies when firing this weapon at less than full health

IFF - Shooting an enemy causes them to deal triple damage to allies while you receive a portion of their damage as health (Pairs perfectly with Salt in the Wound!)

I'm sure there are some TOTALLY obvious ones I'm missing, so let's see what else ya'll got!

Some BRILLIANT additions from /u/brian1321 :

Fourth Times the Harm - Rapidly landing 4 precision hits returns two enemies to the battlefield

Rumpage - Kills with this weapon temporarily distort vision and impair reload speed. Stacks 3x.

Vurple Weapon - This weapon turns bosses and mini-bosses into Grimace.

One Flew Over the Caiatl's Nest - Missing precision shots grants stacks of Insanity, lowering accuracy further. Stacks 5x. Melee miss immediately grants 5x.

Ah Fuck - When ammo reserves are depleted, character mumbles "Ah fuck"

Dredgen Your - Grants friendly fire. Each shot landed takes heavy ammo from target. If no ammo exists, target teleports and dies.

Inlaw - Precision hits grant decreased reload speed and sex drive.

Earl Grey's Revenge - Rapidly crouching over enemies grants overshield and 100% damage increase at the cost of accuracy and stability.

KWTD - If you dont, it wont.

    Even MOAR awesomness!

Firing Blind - For every nearby ally, one enemy becomes completely invisible (courtesy of /u/Amazed_Alloy )

Fully Full auto - weapon fires at random (courtesy of /u/FaysRedditAccount )

Bungie, if Champions are going to continue to be the endgame content mainstay, can you at least make sure the disruptions work?

    Posted:

Since Shadowkeep plenty of the champion disruption mods dont work as intended. Overload Auto doesnt proc if you reload first, Enemies that are overloaded still warp and shoot sometimes. Disruptions triggered by melee sometimes straight up do nothing. Barrier champions warping outside their barrier.

This gets very annoying doing an activity with limited revives and you die because the game decided its mechanic wasn't going to work.

Getting kicked from a GM for inactivity cause I'm dead and we past the respawn timer feels super bad...

    Posted:

So I just ran my first new GM with two really cool guys... Got to the boss on our second try but I died right before the timer to stops respawns, 44:56 was the time, but to my teammates' credit, they 2 manned it like champs... I was helping them with healing rift and champion position callouts when all of a sudden I got kicked for inactivity... And because they were on the last phase of the boss it wouldnt let me rejoin on them as they were about to end. They beat it and got their loot, I got nada.

    feels bad. :(

    EDIT:

Holy front page batman... Never expected this post to go so wide if I'm being honest, and thanks to everyone who gave awards to the post <3

To clarify a few things: Yes, we were doing the cheese. Lots of elitists giving flak for it, but if its good enough for Streamers to do... it's good enough for us Johnny Day-Jobs.

A few commenters also misread... I wasnt dead for 50 mins, I died at 44:56 on the timer and all our tokens were taken away due to the GM mechanic of removing all tokens at 45 mins. It took my teamies around 15 mins to beat the boss thereafter

I was moving my cam around, I even bumped my mouse when I went to grab my coffee cup, clearly wasnt enough input to register as activity for the game haha.

And finally, I did another run once I cooled down and got a decent Killing Wind/Rampage Pali :D

Eye of Sol needs to come back and bite of the fox drop rate needs to be buffed. Here’s why: + A comprehensive sniper write up.

    Posted:

Cross post from r/crucibleguidebook (great sub btw)

    TLDR at the bottom.

Bite of the fox is in the loot pool, it just never drops. my friends/clan and I combined have turned in around 4000 iron banner tokens with not a single bite of the fox dropping this season. They do drop but it's at such a low rate it makes absolutely zero sense.

Why do orewing's maul, shining sphere, fools remedy, and the forward path all drop but bite of the fox doesn't? All of these weapons were introduced/reissued in arrivals but bite of the fox and swarm of the raven (but I'm not going to focus on that as we have enough power gls) are the only ones barely dropping. And it isn't the fact that bite of the fox was reissued because so was orewings and shining sphere but those are dropping at a significantly higher rate.

What makes it worse is that currently we are absolutely lacking in the kinetic special weapon department and bite of the fox and reintroducing eye of sol to the loot pool would help remedy this issue.

Kinetic (legendary) special weapon options that are dropping right now (at a reasonable rate) include: heritage, blasphemer, toil and trouble, astral horizon (without QuickDraw), succession, long shadow, and supremacy. 7 total.

Currently there are 3 kinetic snipers in the loot pool: long shadow, succession, supremacy. As opposed to 8 energy sniper rifles: apostate, adored, far future, frozen orbit, widows bite, distant tumulus, ikelos sniperv2, and omniscient eye.

There are more energy snipers than special kinetic weapons in total! Right now we need bite of the fox to drop more than ever.

Sniper breakdown (my opinions plus stats)

    Succession:

Pros: aggressive frame, really pretty good stats, is currently dropping, god roll is moving target snapshot.

Cons: worse stats than frozen orbit, must complete deep stone crypt (requires beyond light), no QuickDraw, and has 50 zoom.

Overall: probably worse than frozen orbit but not bad. it's all we have got though.

    Supremacy:

Pros: really good stats, is currently dropping, highest aim assist stat in the game, 40 zoom. god roll is snapshot + kill clip/rampage.

Cons: requires last wish, odds of getting one with a good roll is pretty low, poor range, 140 rpm.

Overall: probably the best 140 rpm sniper in the game. That being said 140s are just not as good as the other two archetypes of snipers. Better than distant tumulus, ikelos, widows bite, apostate. Probably equivalent if not slightly better than omniscient eye.

    Long shadow:

Pros: adaptive frame, clean sights, nice sound (maybe?)

Cons: 50 zoom at the minimum, poor aim assist, worse stats in almost every metric when compared to adored and eye of sol, slightly worse stats than far future but significantly worse rolls. May take a while to get a good one because it is a world drop with a fairly large perk pool.

God roll: snapshot moving target +atc/ata scout/Rex. On most snipers this is a good roll but long shadow needs this roll. Moving target puts the aim assist stat up to 69 (59 base) which is barely above default eye of sol and adored (68).

Overall: Not good. It feels decent but a QuickDraw opening shot far future, a default adored, and any eye of sol with snapshot is better in almost every way. It's all we have though.

    Kinetic snipers that aren't dropping

    Eye of sol

Pros: 45 zoom, high aim assist, good range, great rolls, best stats (tied with adored) on any adaptive frame sniper. God roll is snapshot opening shot. It can also roll with snapshot box breathing/vorpal for shutting down supers.

Cons: the scope is a little large and some people don't like it. You have to do trials for it. Oh and the fact that you can't freaking get it anymore

Overall: In my opinion, this is the most versatile and best sniper in the game with snapshot opening shot, however you could argue for far future with QuickDraw opening shot despite it having worse stats.

    Bite of the fox:

Pros: aggressive frame sniper, 43 zoom, high range, can roll with explosive payload for fun, god roll is snapshot openingshot, snapshot moving target isn't bad either.

Cons: poor stats compared to frozen orbit and succession. Worst aim assist by a significant margin. The scope isn't very good and some people absolutely hate the sights. You have to play a lot of iron banner and hope, so basically, you can't freaking get it

Overall: Bite of the fox is carried by the fact that it is an aggressive frame sniper and that it's at 43 zoom. It's stats are significantly worse than the other aggressive frames but with opening shot it can make up for it. It's a great option for people that dislike high zoom snipers but want to use an aggressive frame. Not particularly meta defining but it's needed to round out the kinetic options.

    So what?

As you can see all two of the meta archetypes (adaptive and aggressive) kinetic snipers are worse than their energy counterparts. I am not sure why but hardly anyone uses succession and frozen orbit is objectively better, and long shadow at 50 zoom doesn't hold a candle to adored stats or far future's god roll. Supremacy is good but it's a 140 rpm so it's not good (hyperbole but you get the idea). We clearly need more kinetic snipers in the game so I propose buffing the drop rate of (or an entire iron banner loot rework would be even better) bite of the fox and bringing back eye of sol to compete with adored/far future and provide a lower zoom alternative for meta kinetic snipers. Right now unless you have a bite of the fox or an eye of sol you're stuck with either the best off meta sniper, a long zoom decent aggressive or a sub par long zoom adaptive.

Please bring back bite of the fox and eye of sol

    TLDR

We are in a kinetic special weapon drought right now and need new/more options.

For some reason bite of the fox (and swarm of the raven) barely drop from iron banner but all the other arrivals weapons do. There are 3 kinetic special snipers (dropping at a reasonable rate) and 8 energy special snipers. Currently available Kinetic snipers are just worse than energy. Long shadow can't compete with adored and far future, succession is slightly worse than frozen orbit, supremacy is a 140.

Bite of the fox isnt OP and it helps round out kinetic snipers as a whole so it should drop more.

Eye of sol is the only kinetic sniper that can compete with adored and far future but it is completely impossible to get now.

The easy solution is to bring back eye of sol and boost bite of the fox drop rate. The harder but better solution would be to offer a loot picker (like the dsc chest) for trials and Iron banner or to add a similar mechanism to umbral focusing to trials and IB.

Please correct me if I'm wrong about anything and let me know what you guys think.

    Thanks!

For real though; great fun, chaotic as anything in Destiny. I didn't actually think it was as bad as people were making out but I can see the struggle.

Fun Fact: In the April Update of The Taken King, there was a crucible quest that awards you with either a SUROS TYR-14, Mos Calamus I, or Raskova-A, all uncommon rarity and level 5. This makes them the lowest level weapons introduced in the expansion.

A Random Positive Message for You

    Posted:

Last year, we all experienced what news media would consider a 'black swan' event. Something that nobody could have seen coming. COVID-19 has been a challenge for so many of us, but few have experienced the level of change to their social-fabric than our children. After they were quarantined, my kids couldn't see their friends; they couldn't socialize with their tabletop gaming group, or even attend school. They were sitting around at home, mostly bored, and trying their best to learn online education platforms that were equally as unwieldy to their teachers.

In March - as we were essentially being told to confine ourselves to our house - I decided to buy three consoles, one for myself and one each for my two, teenage sons: Sebastian (15) and Daniel (13). We played a plethora of games together, focusing on titles that they'd heard a lot about like Fortnite, before branching off to experiment with Dauntless (Sebastian wasn't a fan) and Salt and Sanctuary (both of my children adored that game).

Shortly thereafter, I realized that Destiny 2 represented a great opportunity. I had played Destiny as a younger man and loved both the gunplay and role-playing elements and thought that a looter-shooter could be a perfect bridge between us. Sebastian loves shooters (Fortnite, Overwatch, and Halo), whereas Daniel looked for more...sophisticated gameplay (Dauntless, Terraria, and Minecraft).

I truly can't describe what a delight playing Destiny with my children has been. Joyous, perhaps? Exhilarating, almost certainly. It's changed so much of our relationship. The way we talk to each other, foremost. Our early days of exploring end-game content like Leviathan, which requires teamwork for oftentimes complex mechanics, forced us to communicate better. My son, Daniel, required only a short verbal explanation with a few pointed questions to understand. My son, Sebastian; however, needed to be physically walked through each mechanic before catching-on. In short, I discovered that Daniel was an auditory learner, while Sebastian a kinesthetic. I honestly didn't know either fact about my own children. Now, when I need to explain anything to them - Destiny related or not - I tailor my message appropriately.

I wish you could've seen their faces when we first cleared Leviathan. I wish I would've recorded their exuberant screaming as they watched Calus' robotic frame explode with light, crumpling under the combined might of our fireteam. They threw down their headsets, sprinted to my room, and we all had a group-hug, smiling ear-to-ear. In a world of quarantines, social distancing, school shutdowns and whatever else: this was something they could control. It was perhaps evidence to them that adversity could still be overcome. It wasn't simply Calus' doppelganger over whom they had been victorious, but their unease as well.

Nowadays, they're experimenting with Grandmaster Nightfalls and clearing Deep Stone Crypt on a weekly basis. The evenings, after dinner and homework, they lovingly refer to as 'Destiny Time'. And no matter what happens next - whatever craziness lies beyond the horizon - they'll be ready.

I've watched their confidence skyrocket. They've become more self-assured. Blossoming friendships between them and other Destiny players have followed, and Sebastian - my goofy, self-effacing loner - has started leading raid groups. When confronted by a challenge, they say things like: "I beat Crown of Sorrow. I can do anything!" Suddenly, everyday problems don't seem so complex. 'Improvise, adapt and overcome' has become their mantra.

Yesterday, Sebastian – a self-admittedly poor student – brought me a report card with a wide, triumphant smile and said: "Nothing but A's and B's, Dad!" He's never gotten a report card without a 'C' or below. Ever.

And we have a name for people who routinely beat the odds...

    They're called Guardians.

It doesn't matter who you were before you woke up outside the Cosmodrome. It doesn't matter what you thought you could or couldn't do. It doesn't matter whether you were scared, lonely or unsure of yourself. A Guardian does not dwell on the past.

You're a Lightbearer now. A time traveler, Godslayer, Kingbreaker and Iron Lord.

Sure, you've fallen once or twice. Yet even lightless, bereft of the Traveler's gifts, you rose again.

Is that not the source of a Guardian's strength? Not your ability to wield the Light, but rather to be reborn. To use mistakes as opportunities for growth. Your failures are never permanent. You literally live and learn.

You've battled Nightmares and wielded Darkness from the methane oceans of Titan to the frozen tundra of Europa's shores.

    You are unstoppable.

Survival Should Not Be The Only Glory Playlist

    Posted:

Glory is for sweats and elimination is a sweatier game variant than survival. Countdown was considered sweaty enough by the devs to be the Trials equivalent back during Trials of The Nine, so it should also be in the discussion. I think one good potential idea could be to have one glory playlist that features all three mentioned game variants, randomly cycling between the three from game to game (think Overwatch's comp playlist, for example). Bottom line, having just one glory game variant is not great.

The feeling of completing a GM after several hours trying is MONUMENTAL.

    Posted:

I've put in about 1000 hours into D2 and I've been around since D1, I never really gave GMs a chance. I figured, hey, there really was no personal incentive and I'm okay with it!

Then she came. Like captain ahab hunting Moby Dick, I too was hunting after it appeared before me. Except this was in the shape of a revolver, the fabled Palindrome. (adept!) Palindrome was my dick, and I started hunting for it.

I was a weak sauce, casual player. not much for hard content! I liked doing my weeklies, getting pinnicles, and hopping off for the week, but the moment this season's GMs came around, I felt like I was ready. I had a goal. I needed to get some Palindromes in my life. I was missing the rush. I needed my guardian to FEEL something. Killing gods is NOTHING without the feel of cold, void steel around my hands. I felt like my heart was ready. Boy. Was I wrong.

THIS GM IS HARD. I'M SURE EVERYONE HAS TOLD YOU BUT JESUS THIS GM WAS HARD.

I hated the big open room the most. Bongo decided "hey fuck your cover! go die :)" and instead, we said nay. WE ARE THE COVER. DOUBLE URSAS FOR THE FUCKING WIN. SHAXX WOULD BE PROUD.

SAINT WOULD CRY A SINGLE TEAR, LETTING SAID TEAR FALL ON A PIGEON AND PROCLAIMING IT TO THE CHILDREN OF THE CITY, THAT THIS. IS. SUICIDALSHOE. KING OF KINGS. WITH HIS FUCKING BEAR HANDS, HE SHALL SLAY ALL.

ZAVALA CHOOSING US TO REPRESENT AS CHAMPIONS WAS NO MERE CHOICE. WE WERE THE ONLY FORCE WHO WERE READY TO SLAY THE BEASTS IN THE GOD TANK, AND NOTHING WAS GOING TO STOP US.

except ya know, dogs that decide to wrap around the corner of our ursas

also interceptor shots hitting the wall and killing us with splash damage

    also running out of ammo

BUT I DIGRESS GUARDIANS. AFTER THIS PART IT WAS SET IN STON-

wait are those two fucking tanks. oh okay

ANYWAYS, AFTER DYING 50 TIMES, WE PREVAILED, DESTOYED THE ENGINE AND FINALLY MADE IT TO BOSS ROOM.

There she was. Caiatl's champion. Under cabal myth, it was her elite warrior. Stomped millions before her. Blood flowing with honor and glory. She was fat. With Strength. And she was going down. It was going to get a taste of bear fists.

but only after dying another 2837498374 times to solar orbs :)

Once the champion was slain. RNG blessed me. With not one. BUT TWO PALLENDROMES.

I was sweating. I was crying. The RUSH you feel is something you will never forget. I was shaking, with so much anticipation for this loot i spent hours on. I was complete. Two trophies, one rolled for Sixes and one rolled for possible trials and threes.

So guardians, if you're anticipating this I urge you to try out GMs. Try out harder content. It's some of the most fun I've had with my friends and the feeling of success is nothing like I've ever felt with any video game ever. It's a feeling you hold on to. And I'm proud for making it through after so many hours. IF I CAN DO IT. YOU CAN TOO.

see you next week for swarm adept :)

Omolon SMGs are amazing and it's a shame that all of them are either green guns or sunset Y1 weapons.

    Posted:

Today i pulled out a random green smg out of the collections to play rumble with.

It was an omolon one, i didn't look at the name, but god was it juicy. I mean it wasn't good since it was a primary gun without perks and more important without Ikarus in a felwinter/120 world but still, it was fun tho.

Id love to have a legendary version just for diversity alone.

Bungie, add champions as patrolzone wanted enemies and even heroic public events enemies. Maybe add random freely roaming ones.

    Posted:

This is based on the post by u/Mudtoothsays from 2 days ago.

If new players are forced to do tutorials on Anti Champion mods then they should as well experience them in patrol zones as frequent enemies.

This change is supposed to let newer players test weapons more to see which suits their style and would be the best against champions. It would also teach them the importance of Anti Champion mods in endgame content, otherwise they'd sit there for half a hour trying to kill a constant warping and regenerating Overload champ.

Also it would be funny watching 3 new lights trying to kill a wanted overload at the Steppes so please Bungie. 🙏

'PREVIOUSLY ON DESTINY' - a recap resource for the complete story of Destiny

    Posted:

    Link to PREVIOUSLY ON DESTINY

Destiny's story is expansive and complex, maybe a bit intimidating for newcomers.

'Previously on Destiny' is a site which summarises every season thus far with a bit of in-character background, key story beats, and screenshots.

Somebody kindly posted this the other day, but I have since updated the site so it covers all of Destiny 1 as well - meaning that every season and expansion, from 2014 to today, has been summarised.

Of course, by no means does this mean I'm done. I'm looking to add additional pages with things like short character bios, general concepts explained, a gallery to provide a 'visual journey' through the series... your suggestions for what you think would be helpful to add for New Lights are welcome!

    Stay safe, Guardians! <3

Solo Pit of Heresy Speedrun World Record (8:54)

    Posted:

https://youtu.be/IBrss_FEfSg Pretty happy to finally get the sub 9 solo for this dungeon, but this run is far from perfect. I would have liked to get a faster time but the sword nerf this season made the boss bake far too inconsistent for me to want to run this dungeon.
