This week at Bungie, we started splicing.

Season of the Splicer went live this week. Killer robots channeled their inner Mr. Burns and blotted out the Sun over the Last City. Now, Guardians are strapping on power gloves and teaming up with tech-master Eliksni to fight in the shade. It's a tale as old as time.

We had some Honeydew errors early on, but our team of experts buckled down to commune with our servers and fix the issues so you could get back to playing. Our deepest apologies to anyone who had their gameplay delayed. Check out the Player Support Report below for the latest on any ongoing issues we are tracking.

Despite some hiccups, the Season is in full swing now! Here is a quick look at everything the new Season Pass has to offer.

    Hack and Slash

This Season has ushered in new additions to your arsenal from Seasonal rewards, post-game Gambit, Crucible, Vanguard drops, and more. We gave you a peek at these last week, so go check them out if you want a look at what awaits you in game.

We've also added a series of returning Future War Cult weapons loaded up with the new rolls, as well as some class-specific Swords to slice and dice (and splice?) your way to victory. All of these weapons are available for free to all players and drop from multiple World Loot Pool sources.

    Iron Sharpens Iron

Next week, the first Iron Banner of Season of the Splicer goes live. Lord Saladin will be back at the Tower with bounties and a slew of pinnacle rewards. Find him up on the top level and make sure you grab the quest he is offering as well. We re-enabled the Heavy weapon step and, based on player feedback, have made it much easier to complete. It only requires three Machine Gun kills now to finish.

    Iron Banner

Start: May 18 at 10 AM PDT

End: May 25 at 10 AM PDT

We showed off two new weapons as well as two Year-1 weapons that are getting random rolls for the first time in a previous TWAB. Here is another look in case you missed it!

    Cuteness

Ikora and Mithrax have big roles this Season, but the baby Eliksni have stolen the show. We've watched as the community has exploded over how cute these lil' creatures are. If you want one of your own, sign up for email updates to know when the plushy babies become available at Bungie Store.

    Hotfix 3.2.0.0

Since Season of the Splicer launched, some players have been unable to access Destiny and experience a crash when attempting to log in. We issued a fix for this early today in Hotfix 3.2.0.0. This patch also addressed an issue that was allowing some players to access Cross Play early.

    ARMOR SYNTHESIS

With players now able to turn their armor into universal ornaments, we'd like to clarify how and why some armor doesn't appear unlocked in the Armor Customization area.

    • Armor won't show up if a player is wearing that armor.
    • Some armor sets were purposely combined into one set to reduce players accidentally overspending their tokens for duplicate armor. Examples include:

      • Gambit Prime Armors – Anyone who unlocked a Gambit Prime armor set has access to the Illicit (Basic) Gambit Prime Armor Synthesis universal ornaments.
      • Leviathan Prestige Class Items – The Prestige class items from the Leviathan raid uses the same arrangement as the base version, but uses a different dye to distinguish the two, so we reduced these two items into one item for Armor Synthesis.
      • Red War Parade Armors – The Legendary sets share appearances with the armor from the Red War introductory mission.
      • Green and Blue Solstice Armor – The appearances of these armors are identical without support of the Glows and were reduced to a single set. The green set also matches the wrecked parade armor, so it was reduced further.
      • Purple Solstice Armor – As we announced last week, glows from 2018's and 2019's Solstice of Heroes are being worked on and will be implemented later this year for the Legendary armors only.
      • Exotic Armor – Exotic armor cannot take the appearance of alternate armor, nor can Exotic armor be converted into a Universal Ornament and used on Legendary armor.
      • Year 1 Armor Ornaments – These are being worked on and will be implemented later this year.

For more information about Armor Synthesis, view our support article.

    KNOWN ISSUES

While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:

    • The Presage activity is not rewarding pinnacles as intended.
    • Deep Stone Crypt no longer awards pinnacle gear, but lists that it does.
    • The Titan Guardian Games Contender Plate chest piece does not appear in the Preview and Appearance Customization screens.
    • Guardian Games crown holograms may remain on player's heads after the conclusion of the event.
    • Various Guardian Games quests and bounties may remain in player's inventories after the conclusion of the event.
    • Valor, Glory, and Infamy ranks may not gain progress as expected when completing matches in their respective playlists.
    • Players cannot use Wish Ender's perk Queen's Wrath when poisoned.
    • The "/join" command is not functioning properly for players on Steam.
    • The "Destination Threader" Armor Synthesis bounty incorrectly states to open Blind Well chests to progress the bounty. Players must defeat Blind Well bosses to complete the bounty.
    • The Battlegrounds activity will not progress the "A Sacred Fusion" quest.
    • The Special Finisher mod can be purchased multiple times from Ada-1; this is unintended, as multiple copies of the mod will have no extra effect.
    • The tutorial for creating an ornament through Armor Synthesis does not play if a Titan character is the first character to reach the step. The tutorial will play upon reaching orbit on a second character.
    • The Decrypted Data Trove items on ranks 2, 12, and 32 of the Season of the Splicer Season Pass can be acquired with a full inventory. Players should ensure that they have space in their inventory before claiming these ranks.
    • The 150 Synthstrand that can be earned from completing the Armor Synthesis introduction is not sent to the Postmaster when players have a full Consumables inventory.
    • The Reverie Dawn armor set from Season of the Chosen is not showing available shaders when previewing individual armor pieces in the Preview and Appearance Customization screens.

For a full list of emergent issues in Destiny 2, players can review our Known Issues article. Players who observe other issues should report them to our #Help forum.

Hello there! Did I come on to strong? Sorry, just excited about these movies. Do you know how many movies have been made for MOTW since we started this popcorn-laden weekly tradition? That wasn't a setup, I don't actually know. But it's like... a lot. More than 100 for sure.

It’s time to stop increasing the cost of resetting the artifact

    Posted: 13 May 2021 04:48 PM PDT

This season's artifact has some amazing mods ripe for experimentation and theory-crafting. The problem is the escalating cost of resetting. Considering you have to choose a certain amount of mods in prior columns before the next unlocks further complicates the problem. Please revisit this!

Star-Eater Scales enables Golden Gun to deal MORE damage than Celestial Nighthawk

    Posted: 13 May 2021 11:35 AM PDT

    Title.

Just got the boots and tested them immediately on Kalli. I had no debuffs or buffs outside of the buffs the Exotics provide.

Celestial itself does ~218k to Kalli.

Star-Eater Scales does ~256k to Kalli when you have x4 of it's buff.

So... rest in peace Celestial Nighthawk?

EDIT: People asking how the Exotic works, here's a quick run down--

-Orbs generate more super energy, seems to be a 1.5x increase to super energy gain.
-Once your super is charged, you can continue to pick up orbs to generate a buff for your super. The buff increases damage of your super and heals you when you use the super. Stacks up to x4, and when at x4 the healing becomes an overshield.
-The buff seemingly doesn't disappear until you activate your super.
-The buff is approximately a 60% damage increase at x4.

It's incredible how few really bad decisions completely halted the momentum the game gained last season

    Posted: 13 May 2021 06:54 AM PDT

I was so excited to play this season a few days ago, but now Bungie managed to create a dumpsterfire. Some stuff from the patch notes was not implemented properly (Sleeper buff, Chaos Reach going through walls) and other stuff that wasn't even mentioned got introduced because reasons (DSC nerf, hunter buff, warlock nerf).

On top of that, Eververse got a lot of cool new cosmetics and Transmog is a timegated, tedious, capped process which takes IN GAME DAYS to get to the maximum amount of tokens.

Bungie never learns i guess, this is so sad.

Spent $70 on Beyond Light + Season Pass. Why are we getting mobile game tier time gating for a full priced game?

    Posted: 13 May 2021 02:31 AM PDT

We aren't even able to use a lot of the armor in our collections because it's out of date. This is content that we already paid for in the base game or dlcs that we can't use, and it's cosmetics are simply being made available again, but this time we're goaded into paying more money for it.

Why not allow us to earn the content that we paid for in a reasonable amount of time? It makes zero sense.

If Bungie is hurting that much for cash, why not increase the cost upfront in the cost of the season pass or expansion (I know why, because money. The question was rhetorical.) The point still stands however, that an increase in the cost upfront would be far less scummy than the current system.

Dial back the restrictiveness of the transmog system bungo. It's the appropriate thing to do.

The "Override Efficiency" upgrades to the splicer gauntlet increase the amount of Decrypted Data you get from conflux chests in Override, focus that for faster upgrading

    Posted: 13 May 2021 08:16 AM PDT

While digging into the content yesterday and doing way too many Overrides, I noticed when I got my first upgrade on the "Override Efficiency" column, it increased the amount of data I got at the final conflux chest form 30 to 35. I switched my upgrade path focus to that and earned enough data to unlock all three tiers. Here's the amount each tier gives you (I only did one run at tier 3 but believe this should hold up over multiple runs):

    • 0 efficiency upgrades: 30 data per conflux chest
    • 1 efficiency upgrades: 35 data per conflux chest
    • 2 efficiency upgrades: 45 data per conflux chest
    • 3 efficiency upgrades: 55 data per conflux chest

You're nearly doubling your rate of currency gain by getting that up to tier 3 first, which was enough for me to dedicate farming those upgrades before unlocking anything else, even the "Memory Expansion" ones that increase the amount of ether and keys you can hold. This will make upgrading the rest of the splicer gauntlet go by much quicker. You can change up your grind by doing strikes / PvP, then once you're full on ether and keys, go farm Override. Team scorched is back and games go pretty fast - gives you 50 ether per game, and IMO it's the least frustrating PvP playlist because it's silly fun. You'll also get ether for guardians you kill I believe.

Just wanted to share in case others are looking for optimal upgrade paths. Don't forget that the first two seasonal challenges reward decrypted data as well, so you can earn those in addition to just farming Override.

ETA: There were posts yesterday about a special vex goblin in the boss room that had a boss-tier health bar that would drop more Decrypted Data on killing it. I saw this once myself and got 25 data from it, but I hadn't seen or heard of any way to get it to proc consistently. According to u/Erkel85 in the comments below, during the motes phase of Override, if three different guardians go into the vex portal to get the data spike and dunk it, that may be the trigger for this goblin to spawn.

    Bungie. What are you doing?

    Posted: 13 May 2021 12:01 AM PDT

I'm at a near loss for words with how this season is performing in general. But now i have something to say about Deep Stone Crypt.

DSC no longer drops Pinnacles (the in-game text is bugged, don't be fooled.)

DSC can no longer be farmed for spoils, only 3 spoils per encounter, once.

DSC can only drop 12 spoils total, per character, per week.

DSC secret chests no longer drop ANY spoils.

DSC is essentially a $40 raid, as it requires the purchase of Beyond Light. There is now no real incentive to run it as it no longer gives progression to end game leveling. Prophecy is more relevant now for end game leveling. DSC isn't even 3/4's of a year old. The EoT drop rate and damage bug was ignored in this update and no word on the 2 buffs not taking place from Bungie since they launched the second "buff"

I think Bungie does this stuff on purpose just to spite us for constantly complaining about the state of the game. Because these kinds of things happen a lot to the game consistently and they NEVER go well with the playerbase.

    Seems petty and just gross.

Edit: Elaborated a bit for better understanding.

Edit 2: I'm having a hard time understanding what is so controversial about this post.

Edit 3: Oh wow front page!

Edit 4: Thank you for the awards!

Edit 5: So a minor thing to note to the people constantly telling me about presage, is that presage is supposed to grant pinnacles. In the twab it was confirmed bugged. +1 pinnacle source ig.

Network Anomaly aka Override Loot Goblin

    Posted: 13 May 2021 10:06 PM PDT

If you want to spawn the Network Anomaly during Override you need to keep the champions off the plate during the charge mechanic. If a champion touches the plate, you lost your chance at the loot goblin. If you are successful, when you enter the boss room a yellow bar vex goblin named Network Anomaly will spawn. This is indicated by an on screen message. Killing it will drop decrypted data.

If you fail to pick up the data because someone knocked the goblin into orbit (ahem, titans) while it dies, the decrypted data will go to your postmaster.

We found the easiest way to kill the champions was to spawn camp them since the spawns are static. You usually get 2 spawns per cycle.when charging.

    Good luck Guardians!

Boots of the Assembler has turned me into a White Mage. I'm a Warlock main now.

    Posted: 13 May 2021 12:07 PM PDT

These boots have changed the game for me. I LOVE support exotics. I used to run Omnioculous 24/7, but NO MORE! I've been converted. I'm now a full-time employee of Team Warlock! This exotic pairs SO WELL with Lumina and Middle-Tree SunSword Guy (whatever that shit is called. I'm new, ok?). It works just as well with any other subclass tree, but Benevolent Dawn gives you back the Rifts in record time.

The boots make your Rifts send out a TON of Lumina Hip-Fire orbs that buff based on the rift that you're using and seeks out your teammates from a really generous distance. It synergizes with Lumina and gives you Noble Rounds for the weapon somehow. I'm not sure if it's when teammates are getting kills but I had x5 Noble Rounds without killing a thing. It's crazy! It also works off of your Well of Radiance too; I wasn't on the receiving end of it, but I'm assuming since Well of Radiance Heals AND buffs damage that you get both. Someone, please confirm. All of this better be working as intended. You screwed me up when you nerfed my Rat King + Omnioculous Combo, but now I have another crazy way to support the squad. LEAVE IT ALONE. If you need to nerf something Bungie, there's plenty of icy tomfoolery ripe for the nerfing. Pick that. Leave this be.

I'm never taking these shoes off. (Yes I said shoes.)

... Did I mention they look good too? Finally, another warlock exotic that looks GOOD!

Edit: Using this in PvE (it works in pvp too... pvp is just a crap fest rn) and standing in the well gives Lumina infinite ammo as long as your team is getting kills. It makes Lumina feel like it has the OG Lunafaction boots buff. When your team gets kills while being buffed by your Rift, the Rift generates Lumina's Noble Round Remnants (Not to be confused with the Noble Seekers from the Boots of the Assembler}, and that in turn gives you ammo every time you pick one up. It usually comes in a stack of 5. You literally get ammo faster than you can shoot it! Kinda dope synergy between those exotics!

Bungie hear me out. “Non-pinnacle” raids shouldn’t have a weekly lockout.

    Posted: 13 May 2021 03:13 AM PDT

Title. If a raid gets "old" enough that it no longer drops pinnacle drops, then there's no reason for it to be on a weekly lockout for drops. Make it so first run is powerful then subsequent runs are at level drops.

I have very little time to dedicate to being to run raids anymore and have only ran DSC like 10 times. Now it's going to be even harder for folks like myself because less people are going to be running it because less reward.

Allowing older raids to be farmed would breath some life into them because people would actually want to run them if they didn't have to worry about not getting anything worthwhile while only being able to do it max 3 times a week. It's hard to get a group for Garden and even harder for Last Wish.

At this point, what's the harm in letting people farm the old raid drops.

New Emote Bundle added to Season of the Splicer page: Throne of Atheon

    Posted: 13 May 2021 06:17 AM PDT

I believe Bungie recently added a new section to the Season of the Splicer page that advertises a Silver only Emote based on the new Raid. I don't remember seeing this last week.

In a blog post Luke Smith said "we will no longer be selling ships, ghost shells, sparrows, or armor ornaments in Eververse that are visually based on themes from Aspirational Activities."

Looks like we now know why Shaders and Emotes were missing.

kinda funny how team scorched is the most balanced pvp gamemode

    Posted: 13 May 2021 06:43 AM PDT

Season of the Chosen made me recommend D2 to my friends again. Splicer made me glad they didn't listen to me.

    Posted: 13 May 2021 02:00 AM PDT

    Title pretty much.

    - Overly grindy and greedy transmog system.

    - Challenges XP nerfed.

    - DSC no longer awards pinnacles, Spoils removed from "hidden" chests. (But Empire Hunts and that weekly "challenge" still do drop pinnacles )

    - Stasis buffed? Wtf.

    - Broken Engram Focusing. ( Intellect focus drops high stat discpline. More mats required to focus than the game tells you //buggs galore// )

    - Some of the Sandbox changes were down right not implemented. Chaos reach still kills through walls. Fusion rifles remained the same. LFR buff not applied to Sleeper&QB exotics.

    - Why is loot dropping below the hard cap? I'm 1310 and receive a ton of 1307-1308-1309 items, really really inconsistent.

On the plus side, the new weapons and story looks cool so far. Credit where it's due.

Edit: If you're enjoying the season, then that's good. I hope you're all having a good time with the game or otherwise. I'm only saying that these are all valid complaints, and it's only been a few days and they became very apparent. As I said, I think the story is good, the 6 new weapons are cool. But this alone can not carry a 15 week season when they use the nerf hammer on things that benefit the player from the get go. Less pinnacles, less xp, crucible still a shit show, no news about anti cheat, buggs and sandbox changes not even implemented lol.

Edit2: Guys. I'm not telling or advocating to uninstall the game or not play it. I like the game but I'm dissatisfied with how they handle this season. There are plenty more posts that go into details regarding all of the above complaints, but we need to voice our opinions, otherwise it's all gonna go downhill. Lets face it, the f2p aspect of the game is just a glorified demo, if you want the newest experiences, you gotta shell cash. And right now we're treated like we're all f2p mobile gamers ( aka Transmog, xp throttle, Pinnacle reduction ).

Edit3: Every broken stuff so far in the season. It includes the 30k XP Nerf of the challenges that people ask about. Among other things.

Hot Take: Gambit is better than Crucible

    Posted: 13 May 2021 01:57 PM PDT

Crucible, in my opinion, isn't really fun to play. You have to either use stasis, Jötunn, or one of the other low ttk, meta weapons or else you will get stomped by those using said meta items. Trying to complete the exotic catalyst quest is annoying because each step requires you to defeat 50+ guardians using the new pistol (not the first step technically, but the second one yeah).

Gambit, on the other hand, feels much more laid back. While you do have the invader mechanic, which can be annoying at times, it is more of a match of who can PvE the best with their team. low ttk weapons are still better, but you have much more flexibility with what you can use in Gambit.

Admittedly the limited time modes in Crucible are fun, as they sort of feel more like a custom games match in Halo, but even then it is still a slog at times.

EDIT: Changed "High ttk" to "Low ttk". I slipped up and was thinking "high" as "fast" for some reason.

Bungie secretly nerfed top tree golden gun.

    Posted: 13 May 2021 05:28 AM PDT

Me and some friends were playing pvp earlier and noticed that golden gun now has ridiculous drop off. At around 44 meters you are in two tap range now. A 120 handcannon with one stack of rampage beats that. Just confused as to why they decided to nerf an already average subclass.

And now for our daily where is my Bleak Watcher turret post

I really miss my little ice turret buddy. He kept me company since my brother stopped playing, but really it's the thing that got me back into Destiny again. I love being able to live the ice mage fantasy I've missed from my time as a mage in WoW all those years ago.

Yes, I know it was disabled for a good reason and it was probably the best choice to combat the infinite super glitch, but I'm still sad nonetheless. I honestly don't feel like playing without my ice buddy.

I'd love even just a vague ETA on when they might have it enabled again.

Has Bungie mentioned anything about it?

I cannot deny it. The chaos, the visuals, the SOUNDS. I don't ever want this 6 player activity to go away :c

Scavenger's Den Legend Lost Sector Platinum Speedrun 0:52 (also new skip)

Here's my Speedrun (sorry for the loud clicks) of the Legend Lost Sector today, also a way to skip most of it. I tried this method on all characters and it does work so any class can do it.
