    Trials of Osiris is LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

    FAQ

    What is Trials of Osiris?

    • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every Weekend, the best players compete in 3v3 Elimination for one goal: Go Flawless.

    • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

    • To reach Flawless and get to the Lighthouse, you need to win 7 matches without losing one.

    • It uses Win Based Matchmaking, which means you'll face teams with a similar amount of wins on their card. Matches will get harder as you win more matches.

    • There is NO fireteam matchmaking. You need to team up yourself!

    • Power Level matters, however bonus power from the artifact is not enabled.

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

    • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

    • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to compete with in the Trials?

    • You can head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

    • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If they haven't ask right below.

It's okay to skip content/events. It's okay to only play to have fun sometimes, you don't have to grind every time you log in.

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 11:04 AM PDT

Just a friendly reminder that although this is a grind-centric game, it's okay to take a break from the grind, and just have fun. I've been playing since D1, and I often feel the "need" to do everything, every activity, every event, everything that needs some grind. Recently I've reached a point where I am opting out of activities that just don't interest me, even if there are new rewards at stake.

I did not touch the Solstice event at all. I don't have any of the armor, (I don't like it tbh) so I thought to myself "why should I even grind this event, or spend BD?" That urge to want all the gear, even if it's stuff you don't particularly like can be unhealthy. You don't have to have everything, and that's okay.

The best part about farming Grandmasters is spending countless hours with the same 2 people from LFG and slowly evolving into idiots in auto pilot and just straight up having a good time

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 07:19 PM PDT

Just made two new friends today, and it was a blast, at the start we were taking it seriously and getting sub 14 minute runs and then 10+ hours later we started losing our IQ every minute just talking about stupid shit.

This is why I love Destiny, because of moments like this.

Bungie, please, please, PLEASE acknowledge text chat on pc not working

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 09:55 AM PDT

Like I just want to at least bring awareness to someone that text chat on pc has not been working at all in team, clan, or local. I just want to help out newbies with the very boring and slow paced new light experience, and maybe give them a few tips on things in general.

Bungie, we have single shot special grenade launchers and drum heavy grenade launchers. Why not a heavy drum fed shotgun?

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 10:54 AM PDT

We need an AA12! 20 rounds of shotgun ammo but as a heavy to avoid imbalance would be... chef's kiss

Stadia being in console player pool might be a massive mistake due to Stadia allowing for Keyboard and Mouse

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 06:40 PM PDT

As it functions right now, on any computer with a chrome browser you can choose to use a controller or KB+M with stadia.

If Stadia is pooled in with xbox and playstation players, that means that people on console that can only use controllers will be paired against players that have the option to use KB+M.

You might be thinking "Well, that's not too big of a deal. That's how it works on PC - there are KB+M players and there are controller players."

First, as explained in Cammycake's crossplay video, even on PC KB+M players have a flat-out advantage in nearly every scenario. There might be a handful of weapons that perform better on controller, but for most top players, that does not offset the benefits from KB+M. Even players like Drewsky admit that they're giving themselves a disadvantage by playing controller and that's something they accept.

Second, and most importantly, players on PC have a choice but console players do not. No one on playstation or xbox is able to use KB+M without using bannible 3rd party hardware, and even with those devices you don't have full KB+M functionality. This unquestionably creates an uneven playing field.

I'd love to hear other peoples' thoughts on the issue, but in my opinion there should either be a method for determining input device (not allowing players to switch mid game) on Stadia and pooling the players to console and pc that way, or Stadia should be placed in the PC pool.

A third, and maybe more simple solution, would be to disable KB+M inputs on Stadia.

Bungie doesn't have a personal vendetta against your class

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 03:39 AM PDT

To all you solo class mains

Bungie doesn't have a vendetta against your class

Everyone has bullshit, everyone has always had bullshit, everyone gets nerfs that go too far to kill a subclass tree

Quit fucking whining and get off your high horse

Joe Blackburn isn't and Luke Smith wasn't a secret hunter main with an agenda

It's mostly you Warlocks, but you solo Hunters and Titans aren't exempt, I see you complain about everything

People of every class week 1 of BL were complaining that they had the worse subclass, I saw players from EVERY class complain theirs was the worst, so don't act like there's not at least bad eggs in your class group

also if this gets taken down when all this sub is is just people bitching cause I'm choosing to bitch about the players rather than Bungie than that just proves how much of a circlejerk this subreddit is

I did a GM last night with strangers running interesting loadouts

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 08:27 PM PDT

Last night I did my usual LFG "GM NF no mic have mods" post on the Destiny app. The spots filled very quickly as they often do, I added the two players and inspected their loadouts. The first was an Ursa Titan running Ignition Code, The Summoner and Wardcliff. The other player was a turret Shadebinder running Tranversives the curated Night watch, Telesto and the Memory Interdict GL, both of which are void. There isn't a single void shield in the strike.

My Loadout is as meta as they come with an Eye of another world turret Shadebinder with 100 disc a blinding Ignition Code, wellspring frenzy Vision of confluence and Anarchy.

I was tempted to kick the warlock but didn't want to be a dick so thought fuck it let's see how it goes.

We use all our revives in the first encounter, scrape through. We use all our revives in the second encounter, scrape through. Wardcliff was surprisingly effective at taking out the arc shielded Knights. We get to the Boss room, chip away at her and I die with the boss at 1/6 of her health left with no more revives or champions left to get more. These two pulled through to the very end and we completed it in 36ish minutes. It was pretty epic really.

Moral of the story: off meta Loadouts can work for GMs don't be scared to give them a try.

Double Nightfall loot when GrandMaster is active are one of my favorit times in Destiny when I am just waiting for the next content drop

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 02:45 AM PDT

Its even better when having vacation and can do runs 15-20 min. Mostly with a friend and then a lfg (no mic often).

Each run just feels super rewarding!
    * All blues I lvl them up to energy 8 and dismantle
    * Up to 4 shards pr. run
    * Each run I pick either an exotic or 4 legendary pieces in my vault and MW it.
    * Getting one of each exotic for each character and MW it. Even if I dont use it. It might give me reason to make fun builds later!
    * Try getting the god rolls from last season NF weapons. The Swarm got my interest with being uniqe (found verdict can it too) running Unreletning and a damage perk at the same time! Could be good for the upcoming PvE machinegun buff we got teased

This is just a great time get everything good in my vault potential ready for furture builds - worst case, can always dismantle some of it and get something back (1 shard from fully MW extoics)

Would be nice if other activites could get similar experince in terms of rewards now and then

The Spider loves me as a customer - spending soooo much glimmer

EDIT: And I am maining top tree tether hunter with orpheus rig and getting consistent half my super back. It works so well in this week NF. Hunters are imo more than welcome in the ´end game´ :) Tether + thundercrash = Chamions dies (specially if they are right next to each other)

    Drifter "ALWAYS" flashing

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 08:02 AM PDT

What's going on with Drifter, he is constantly flashing and it's really irritating. There's no rewards or anything to claim from him so it's not that and there's no dialogue or anything to interact with him. Is it just a bug?

Is Bungie aware of this and is there a fix for it or something in the works?

    /u/dmg04 /u/Cozmo23

Edit. For anyone saying if they're are any rewards to claim, it's not that. I have room to claim any rewards he has. It's literally been flashing ALL season.

Also thanks for all the upvotes guys. Didn't expect to get this much attention. I appreciate it

I'm clearly not the only one with this issue and everyone I've asked in game says the same thing that it's an issue for them as well

Hopefully this gets fixed soon or as at least fixes itself when the season end and all the venders get reset.

Genuinely asking, where did the idea that Bungie hates warlocks come from?

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 09:52 AM PDT

Coming as a guy who has mained hunter since the start of D1 but has been playing a ton of Warlock in high end PvE the last few seasons, I genuinely do not understand it. Warlocks have

    • Top Tree Dawn, generally considered the absolute gold standard for pvp subclasses. Best movement tech in the game with icarus dash, best ranged melee in the game now that shurikens are wiped, great grenade options, a niche but awesome in air ability, and a very competitive roaming super.

    • Chaos Reach, which rocks in PvE and paired with Geomags is probably THE best strategy for winning Comp and Trials games in PvP right now. (I'd say this is more of a problem with those game modes as a whole than anything else, but still.)

    • Shade Binder with Bleak Watcher, which I have enjoyed playing more than just about anything in PvE recently. It is the single best crowd control class in the game and is incredibly useful and fun.

    • Middle tree Dawn, of course. Like top tree for PvP, well of radiance remains the gold standard for PvE classes and, while not the play in every single GM and while Ursas might outshine it slightly in some situations, is pretty ubiquitous choice for end game activities.

Now, some warlock subclasses have been gutted, which is a shame. Nova Warp sticks out and is a shame because that class is very cool, but this is not unique to warlock. Blade Barrage has never really recovered from its destruction. Anyway, the point of this post is not to be provocative but I am confused about how people see warlock as treated unfairly because from my perspective it has by far the best suite of subclasses in the entire game.

    Buff Blade Barrage

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 06:38 AM PDT

Personally, I was one of those who thought blade barrage was a bit overpowered when it originally came out and so did a lot of people, thus then prompted a nerf but damn. I haven't played hunter since blade barrage had come out as I was really into void warlock but coming back it is really lacklustre. I feel as though it needs a buff but not so much so that it is op again, but make it useable. 2/3 times I can do as much damage with a lament or something and that's really sad since lament is my favourite power and blade barrage is my favourite super, but the lament will be a lot more useful in most situations.

For all the GM farmers this week, be careful of the "Corner of the Architects" in the boss room.

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 06:49 AM PDT

    Link: https://i.imgur.com/szbSzPR.jpg

If any of you guardians find yourself in this predicament, the only way to free yourself of the "Corner of the Architects" (which is the artificial name I'm giving it) is by letting enemies kill you so your teammate can rez you.

This corner is located in the room you jump up to that is very safe to camp during boss room. The one where only 1 arc shielded knight spawns from, after Navota despawns the first time during boss fight.

My squad usually has 2 of us camp in that room and when it's time for that 1 pesky knight to spawn, we melt him and continue onward. After you take out that knight, no more enemies will spawn up there. Just be careful not to jump/fly into that corner, because you will need to die in order to free yourself of that cursed corner.

Good luck and may bungo shower you with god roll weapons!

Destiny Trials is the ONLY game I have ever seen where people are more excited to jump off and kill themselves than to play the mode. And Bungies silence on that specific matter is deafening.

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 01:33 PM PDT

And I'm not knocking the jumpers, honestly go jump for your gear, there not enough incentive to try anyway. And the toxic tbaggers and cheaters make it not worth it anyway.

Too bad we didn't get a heroic Override.

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 07:06 AM PDT

It could have been an experiment with matchmaking in content closer to the endgame.

Fireteam size reduced to 4; Slight contest modifier (does power/dmg scale 5 by 5 or 10 by 10?); Beefier enemies and a few more modifiers; Locked loadout and fireteam doesn't launch unless each player has at least one appropriate champion mod equipped.

Pinnacle drops, glow sticks and golf balls as rewards.

Think of it as training grounds for M/GM Ordeals and a chance for more casual players to get a taste of the endgame while avoiding the anxiety of must have mic scenarios.

And if somehow it had sucked, it was just an experiment which could be canned the next season.

There was a big missed opportunity for a vex dungeon this season

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 08:22 PM PDT

We have three dungeons. All are very atmospheric. Shattered Throne and Pit in particular have a great environment and fun gameplay. These dungeons give us two taken themed dungeons and one hive themed dungeon. Last season somewhat gave us a mini acorn themed dungeon in the form of presage.

I think dungeons are one of the best parts of the game and are super underutilized. If they're no long we giving us raids in seasons like they did in Opulence and Forge we should at least get one dungeon per season. The Expunge missions were a good groundwork for the atmosphere of a vex dungeon. However they are repetitive, the mechanics are about as uninspired and Prophecy motes, and the bosses leave something to be desired as well. For an enemy as important as Quria I think we deserved at least a final dungeon boss fight with great mechanics and her actually using her namesake "Blade Transform" by transforming or simulating enemies throughout the fight. She could have transformed into a state that looked like a vex imitation of a giant hive knight with a sword. After all this being simulated Oryx before. We deserved this type of interesting boss fight for Quria. VOG coming back doesn't excuse not having a dungeon or not doing Quria justice. Not to mention they could have had dungeon specific armor or weapons, or maybe an exotic Tron sparrow idk.

PS if they had surprised us and replaced Atheon with Quria as the final VOG boss instead would that have been a welcome surprise to you all?
