    Here's a link!

I saw a post on here like yesterday or something that asked for ornaments that looked like warsats that really inspired these. Here's how I'd imagine some falling object-themed ornaments would look. I hope you guys like them!

I even included a bonus pic at the end for a shirtless titan. You won't be disappointed!

Shot my friend with a shotgun over 1000 times so you don't have to. Here are the results.

Since I've had a lot of spare time (*cough* unemployed *cough*), I decided to do extensive testing on the one-hit-kill ranges of shotguns to be better informed in terms of what's meta, and perhaps more importantly, what perks really make a difference in what scenarios. To this end, I loaded up into a private lobby with a friend and shot him in the face over 1000 times, and recorded all the results and relevant variables. If you don't care too much for specific numbers and walls of text, TL;DR at the bottom of the page.

    Methodology:

It's important to note how I went about measuring range, since the game doesn't have a fool proof way to do so. In my testing, I used the DARCI as my measuring stick. When a distance is set, I adjust the distance such that DARCI shows one lower than the intended distance, then I very slowly tap the back button until the desired distance shows up. E.g. when tests were done at "7 meters," I backed away just enough to have DARCI transition from showing a 6 to a 7.

The two distances of 6 and 7 meters were chosen since this seems to be the area where most shotgun seems to fall. Originally, 5 meters and 8 meters were also going to be conducted, but as the tests panned out, 6 and 7 meters alone seemed illustrative enough. Half meter increments were not performed due to the difficulty in getting exact distance measurements, especially given the large number of tests I intended on running.

For the purpose of this testing, I chose to run each individual scenario 40 times. This provides a very reasonable 99% confidence interval for the tests that we have ran (assuming a binomial distribution), especially for edge cases. The reliability of the data also goes up somewhat based on the similarities between various tests. I probably could have done some more but honestly my soul couldn't handle it.

For precision frames and lightweight frames, the tests were run using a single gun from each archetype (namely, Retold Tale and Riiswalker). This was possible due to the factors deemed necessary for testing being relatively low; specifically, the range and whether or not full choke was present. However, for the aggressive frame shotguns, due to the existence of shot package as well as opening shot, tests were conducted on four shotguns in total - Felwinter's Lie (surprise!), Found Verdict, Toil and Trouble, and Astral Horizon. Which shotgun was used in which test has been noted.

All tests were ran using one shotgun targeting mod, on a guardian with 5 resilience.

    Results:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11zD75cZb6QLPQvvFmStIhPWlYLY-yZIG5vZLGpS0QwU/edit?usp=sharing

99% confidence intervals also included in the spreadsheet.

    Discussion:

IN GENERAL: a perfectly rolled precision frame can one-tap at 7 meters, and almost guaranteed at 6 meters. A perfectly rolled lightweight frame can VERY OCCASIONALLY secure the one tap at 7 meters, but it's only at 6 meters that you start seeing reliable results. Even then, the best case scenario shows still a roughly 50% chance to one-tap at 6 meters. Well rolled aggressive frames can one-tap at 7 meters approximately 50% of the time.

From the data, it seems that precision frames and lightweight frames share one thing in common: full choke is CRUCIAL for securing the one tap. Range seems to have close to no impact on this. This makes sense considering that a few years ago, Bungie altered the way in which shotgun pellet spread cones work so that it is archetype specific and no longer affected by range. One common argument is that range extends the accuracy cone of your shotgun and therefore improves the one-hit-kill range. However, the data doesn't seem to indicate this has any appreciable effect.

That said, a healthy range bar is still important - you still need to ensure that you are hitting maximum damage around the 7 meter mark for precisions and around the 6 meter mark for lightweights, the distance from which you can reasonably expect a one-tap from. This translates to at least ~75 range for precisions and ~50 range for lightweight frames. To reiterate, this is only looking at one-tap ranges. The range bar will still improve your two-tap range, as well as the follow up potential on already weakened targets.

What this does mean though, is that once you have hit a certain range threshold, it is very viable to look to other perks to improve the overall feel of your gun, such as extra handling, fire rate from assault mag, or even extra reload through light mag. Range is still good, but you don't need to obsessively stack it and forgo other good options.

Aggressive frames, on the other hand, seems to be a completely different story. To get the obvious out of the way first, opening shot is still an amazing perk. Out of all the aggressive frame scenarios considered, pretty much all the most consistent/best performing ones have opening shot. In addition, it negates some of the need for additional range perks. However, note that this difference isn't huge.

The most shocking aspect of the tests is that pellet grouping perks seem to have very little to no appreciable impact on the consistency of aggressive shotguns. For example, the test that performed the best under the 7 meter range did not have full choke. Overall, taking a look at all the differences in consistency between full choke vs no full choke under otherwise identical conditions, the sum of the difference is less than 5%.

What's even more shocking is that Smoothbore, long considered a terrible option, seems to have no appreciable negative impact on the one-hit kill range. In fact, the Found Verdict roll with Smoothbore and WITHOUT opening shot performed almost identically to the Felwinter's Lie and Full Choke Found Verdict, both with opening shot. When we push the range back to 6 meters instead, Smoothbore also did not seem to perform notably worse compared to the non-smooth bore option.

While this may be chalked up to RNG and shotguns being inconsistent, it still remains that neither full choke nor Smoothbore resulted in any appreciable difference in aggressive shotguns across hundreds of tests. Meanwhile the complete opposite is true is for precision and lightweight frames. This makes me believe that something about the aggressive frames, whether its the high damage per pellet or something else, means that consistent one hit kills at the very least are not hugely impacted by cone-altering perks.

What absolutely DOES matter, however, is extending the range of the shotgun by as much as possible, either through opening shot or through range boosting barrel/magazine/masterwork options. The drop in consistency for aggressive frames when the required pellet per kill is MASSIVE. For example, with disabling Felwinter's Lie's opening shot perk and reducing the damage to 20/pellet (thereby requiring 10 pellets instead of 9), we can see that the Felwinter's Lie got a grand total of 0 kills at 7 meters. On the other hand, a Found Verdict with Smoothbore that would otherwise be at the same range stat as the Felwinter's, was able to nab the kill 50% of the time.

So is Smoothbore actually a good option now on aggressive frames? Actually, if you don't have opening shot, I believe it is. Unlike Rifled Barrel, which gives a -9 penalty to handling, Smoothbore has no negative impact on handling at all. Going down the list, the other option is Smallbore with a flat +7 to range. Smoothbore provides double that. From a practical perspective, I believe Astral Horizon can potentially benefit from this the most:

Smoothbore/Accurized Rounds/Surplus/Celerity/Range MW results in a range stat of 63. From the tests, this should be able to kill at the same consistency as Felwinter's Lie at 7 meters. On the other hand, this Astral Horizon will have 53 handling at base, with surplus improving this even further.

    Other notes:

Precision frames may be more consistent at closer range compared to aggressive frames. However, this can both work in its favor and work against it. If aggressive frames are missing the one tap at 6 meters, its because 4 or more pellets went in completely weird locations. This, along with their lower pellet/kill, means that you can whiff your shot almost completely and still snag the kill a reasonable number of times. That is to say, aggressive frames are much more forgiving. General takeaway, however, is that they are both really good 6 meters and in.

On the other end of the spectrum lightweight frames really struggle to get consistent one hit kills even at 6 meters. This is made up for by their increased mobility allowing you to get in closer, and the fastest two tap across all (actually useable) archetypes. Otherwise, you really should try to weaken the target first before you yolo in.

    TL;DR:

Precision and lightweight frames absolutely need full choke to be competitive in the one hit kill department. Otherwise, the range stat for these shotguns isn't hugely impactful to OHK range as long as you have at least 75 for precision frames and 50 for lightweight frames.

Aggressive frames, on the other hand, appears to not need Full Choke at all and instead prefer a high range stat, however you get it, including Smoothbore. Shot-package doesn't seem to be hugely impactful.

NOTE: COMMENT ABOUT SMOOTHBORE IS ONLY FOR AGGRESSIVE FRAMES. DATA INDICATES YOU REALLY SHOULD ROLL FULL CHOKE FOR PRECISIONS AND LIGHTWEIGHTS.

Assuming guns are rolled well, here are the kill range and consistencies:

Archetype Range Approximate Chance to Kill
    Precision 7 meters 3/10
    6 meters 9/10
    Lightweight 7 meters <1/10
    6 meters 5/10
    Aggressive (incl. Felwinter's) 7 meters 5/10
    6 meters 8/10

Listen. I know this has been said before, but I cannot stress how much Bungie needs to improve the New Light experience.

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 01:11 AM PDT

Don't get me wrong. Some of it is good. Teaching them what a strike is. Introducing them to Zavala and Shaw Han. Linking in the Cosmodrome. But after you unlock Riskrunner, it's everyone's worst nightmare: bounties. Doing Strikes, Crucible, Gambit, over and over, with what? Riskrunner and Chaperone (edit: chaperone is not available for New Lights, Beyond Light is required for the quest) and a few pieces of Legendary armor with no mods? Please, if you're going to introduce them to the playlists give them something to work with, along with maybe some better guiding for it? When I did the quest it seemed like we got no details on much regarding playlist activities, or other endgame and seasonal content.

And going off another post I saw on here, why do you expect them to know anything about the lore of Destiny? If I've never touched the game how the fuck would I know what the Red War is? Who is Cayde? Ikora? Banshee? Should I care about killing Navota or whatever her name is? Why does she matter? What are Hive? What are Fallen? Cabal? Taken? Vex? Scorn? Who is Oryx? What are the Pyramids? Why do we worship the Traveler? PLEASE BUNGIE, these are things that need to be answered.

also edit: this comment shows exactly what it's like for new players being introduced into the lore. I don't know what the Nine is despite playing this game for years, and I don't care because there's so much more lore I do understand. I feel so sorry for anyone who tries to play this game and wants to get invested into the lore and doesn't have literal WEEKS to watch Byf and other lore YouTubers.

And before anyone mentions it, I've been playing on and off since Forsaken, and started to really dive into the game in Season of Dawn and especially Season of Arrivals. I played the Red War campaign, which was amazing. I didn't care about what happened in Destiny 1, because nothing about it mattered. But you can't just throws names and places up and expect people to get them.

A few months ago I tried to get a friend into the game. I helped him through the New Light campaign, killing the strike boss and helping him get Riskrunner. I also helped him go into Crucible. Literally all I could hear from him was disappointment and a lack of enjoyment. I had to walk him through how to use the inventory even, because apparently there isn't even a guide for that in the campaign. It was especially bad in Crucible, where his Riskrunner with no catalyst and a Night Watch had absolutely no chance at going up against even the worst people in 6v6.

It honestly makes me feel bad that I had him download what I'm sure feels to him like a waste of space. I kept having to tell him "don't worry, it'll get better. You'll get into the lore and stuff and maybe one day I can teach you Garden of Salvation!" Before I realized that mind-numbing bounty grinding without the ability of experimenting with new weapon loadout a was just not fun for him.

They need to give new players a refresher on things which have happened in the game in previous expansions and seasons, especially in Destiny 1. I actually play the game and I still have to rely on watching old Datto guides to understand what happened in the game. Also make the experience more interesting. Give us CGI of Shaw Han fucking some dude up with an arc staff or golden gun like Cayde and Ikora do. Or like how Zavala did. I know you guys don't have the same funding but just something to keep the players on board

My phone is glitching out because I'm typing too much, so I'll stop here. I'd be surprised if anyone actually read this, so thanks if you did. Just needed to get it off my chest. I want to be able to introduce new people to the game without needing to force them into boring playlists and modes or making them install Forsaken, Shadowkeep and Beyond Light.

Final edit: a lot of people are pointing out that bringing back Red War, Curse of Osiris, and Warmind would be the best method. However, I disagree. Red War maybe, but the other two no. One person pointed out that they should just bring back select missions, heroic adventures maybe, or even strikes in the form of missions teaching the NL about the player experience. This would help them get into the gameplay, help them learn about lore and the characters, and maybe even introduce some good weapons and armor and cosmetics for them.

Why not give them solo heroic missions, like a diet expunge mission, with much lower power level and similar puzzles, with champions and everything. Give them the seasonal mods to use against said champions. At the end of them, have each one drop a guaranteed exotic weapon or armor piece. They can only be run once per character ever for this exotic though. Also, make sure to inform them about Xur. Maybe not his location, just say that he exists somewhere, and tell them the time gating he has. and if anyone from Bungie is reading this give Xur more locations please and thank you

Fallen overload champions not respecting invisibility.

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 09:45 AM PDT

So, today I went to farm the cosmodrome Legend lost sector for the headgear and encoutered this bug/feature. I was rocking a bottom tree void hunter with the Graviton Forfeit for the sweet invis, and started to notice some odd behavior.

So I went and made some test runs, and turns out the fallen overload captains were just ignoring my invis. If I went invisible before they saw me, once even before he spawned, and walked out in the open, he would start blasting me anyway. Didn't matter what I did it would shoot at me while invisible.

I don't remember that happening before, so not sure if it's a common bug or not. And while in a legend lost sector it was just an inconvenience, in a GM it could mean a very unfair wipe.

Updated official Destiny renders and concept arts collection (1200+ images!)

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 07:02 AM PDT

    Hi,

I've upated my collection of Destiny concept arts and 3D renders with the latest stuff i've found, bringing the total to around 1240 pictures!

    Here's the new link:

    https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1zNTNIYATZCvHFIDdz19Fa_hv3qD0qPKC?usp=sharing

In case you haven't seen any of my old posts here's more details about this: I've collected these journeying on the internet, uploaded generously by the many artists at Bungie, High Moon Studio and Blur ( Darren Bacon, Adrian Majkrzak, Dorje Bellbrook, Jesse van Djik, Allan Lee to name a few). I regrouped them into 4 categories, one with weapons art , one with characters art, the third regroups all the worlds concept art and the stuff i didn't really know where to put, and i added a folder with all the radial vector art used in the background of many Destiny-related images (in game for instance). I have upscaled many old concept art to 1080p because some old ones were a bit blury. Some of them are 2k or higher!

Currently play on sense 6 with traction with a kontrolfreek before I played on a sense 3 sniper/5 shotgun/fusion without traction.

What sensitivity do you guys use?

Bungie is sitting on a gold mine of unique Year 1 weapons that've NEVER been reissued.

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 09:05 PM PDT

I know a lot of people weren't around during Destiny 2 Year one, but for those of you who were, do you remember weapons like Positive Outlook, Haunted Earth, Deadpan Delivery, Lincoln Green, or the Showrunner?

Because if you don't, you're not alone. The reason is probably because there are dozens of weapons from Year One that were never reissued with random rolls.

For the sake of perspective, I'm just going to list literally every gun Bungie hasn't reissued yet. And while it does seem like Bungie is starting to gradually bring back some of the faction weapons, I think it should be made clear to them that this is really only a good thing for the health of the game and they should continue to reissue them.

Here's the list, I've bolded some ones I hope we see sooner rather than later:

    • Gentleman Vagabond
    • A Single Clap

So just seeing that you can get a good idea of how much content is being unused right now. Archetypes and element combos that aren't in the game could be brought back to make up for sunsetting, with new random rolls and perks.

I still do not understand why we cannot pick up and replay campaigns of non-vaulted DLCs from the quest kiosk?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 06:35 AM PDT

Tbf I didn't get it before we had the kiosk either. If we create a new character we can pick up the campaigns from the kiosk, so I'm guessing there would be some issues/conflicts caused by acquiring the campaign on a character that has already progressed through a campaign and reached some sort of milestone(s) (i.e. unlocking Pit of Heresy). Would be nice to have the option for various reasons, even without adding some of the frequently requested features like mission select and difficulty tiers/loot tables.

Transfiguration is sneakily one of the best weapons in this game

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 06:11 AM PDT

I know scouts are scouts, but I seriously do not see this weapon talked about, ever.

It's a raid weapon from Last Wish, but I think it's now the only gun in the game that rolls with Rampage/Kill Clip and it is absolutely godly at holding down lanes.

It requires the exact opposite play style of the usual run'n'gun, which probably makes it less effective for Trials, but for normal PvP with the few maps that have long lanes, it is truly a god send of a weapon.

Procking both damage buffs make it a two tap city and with rampage spec on, it can hold that 2 tap buff for a hot minute.

Really has become one of my favorite guns to use and is absolute class.

I highly recommend running Last Wish to get this roll.

Also, Bungie, please give us more big crucible maps. It would help combat shotguns a little more lol

With just 20 minutes until weekly reset, me and my mate finally completed Inverted Spire on GM difficulty

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 10:04 AM PDT

Been a week of trying and testing approaches, but we nailed it. Got platinum rewards and a nice Hung Jury Adept each too :)

Still on a rush from finally doing it. No idea how we'll do the next one :)

You know Master VOG has issues when people are just doing the conflux challenge and leaving.

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 06:50 PM PDT

I was afraid this was gonna happen when the first 3 challenges started coming in rotation and it's kind of hilarious how many groups I've been in today where we just complete the challenge and then half of the fireteam goes, "Aight see ya later. I'm not doing the rest of that."

There isn't enough guaranteed incentive to finish the whole master apart from the chest at the end and the only thing keeping people in a full run the past 2 weeks was the gatekeeper/atheon challenges. We need more of a reason to do a full run like maybe adding more spoils to chests or gradually increased drop rates for certain weapons per encounter on a weekly rotation.

Thank you Bungie for boots of the assembler

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 02:17 PM PDT

I have always been a support player, and even in destiny I tried various builds to fit that support role buts obviously destiny doesn't have something for that... MY GOD I FUCKING LOVE THE BOOTS OF THE ASSEMBLER, like my kda is shit and I couldn't be happier as I just hipfire my noble creating every new light player into an unkillable tank with a damage buff. I never, EVER, got friend request or clan invites (not saying I deserved them, I always bottom frag, but now I do it happily) but after literally 3 games of my build I got 2 friend requests and 3 clan invites. Best part, I probably get about 7 kills a match... I am never going to take these boots off.

Tldr: I really like being a support and boots of the assembler have let me live my dream

    Legend of acrius needs Help

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 08:24 AM PDT

Acrius never had much range but it has a hard cap at 10 meters. We tested a few shotguns After the range change. Acrius can't go beyond 10 meters even with a Luna rift. We did a bunch of Tests and in this video you will see 3 weapons: acrius, Fellwinter and threat Level (Form sotp raid). Even If they can't kill someone they still do some dmg on the tested ranges.(every thing is tested with a Luna rift) we did more weapons but the other weapon types where in between Fellwinter and acrius. And as a little extra tractor cannon did to caps at 10 meters. So please buff the range of legend of acrius. Its a heavy exotic weapon and a Luna rift can't help it's range [little Shotgun test] https://imgur.com/gallery/iwU5EE8

Towerthought- Savathun's worm feeds on deception, her infiltration of the City isn't necessarily malicious

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 03:44 PM PDT

The lore passages from her perspective seems to focus a lot more on her feeding on the foolishness of everyone she meets and the hunger of her worm.

She definitely doesn't like us, and she is certainly scheming. But given her attempts to outwit and escape the worm pact, her mission might be for sustenance and recon alone.

Personally I'm a fan of the fan theory that she'll want us to help free her from her worm. Bungie has me hooked on the mystery

I have spent 20 hours on this game since yesterday and I still do not know what I’m doing

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 01:13 PM PDT

the game is really fun, I enjoyed grinding for legendary items but I still don't get the fundamental of the game, what does discipline do? what stats are important and what do they do? How do I proceed with the main storyline quests? a little explanation in game would have been nice

So what is actually on Enceladus?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 05:30 AM PDT

In the mission "Ace in the Hole", where we get the Ace of Spades exotic, Cayde in his caches sends messages to his possible killers. To his message to Petra, he asks her to give the following message to Paladin Oran:

"If the sun over Nessus escapes nebula cycle, evac labor after dawn, under solstice."

Taking the first letter from each word spells out "It's on Enceladus", an icy moon of Saturn.

Before Beyond Light, I believe that the community thought that this was in reference to the Deep Stone Crypt. Obviously the raid has punched a hole in that theory (unless there are multiple crypts), so I was wondering if there were any other theories or further evidence of something else being on Enceladus.

    Question about exotics

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 06:53 PM PDT

I remember someone mentioning in a post that Sunshot really felt like an exotic weapon to them.

Out of curiosity, what exotic weapons would you say really feel like exotic weapons?

I'm looking forward to the 24th almost as much as the next expansion.

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 06:38 AM PDT

Two years ago, we got a lot of information about the games future, including cross save, which has been the most important change for my play of this game. Last year, we got an announcement for 3 upcoming expansions, crossplay announcement, getting VoG back announcement, and the fact that seasons wouldn't be gone in less than 4 months. We also got the best part of year 3, prophecy. Given that next season will be the longest since Arrivals and used to build hype for the witch queen, I'm expecting it to be among the strongest for this year as well. Either way, I'm psyched for August 24th almost as much as the witch queen.

Can we get final chest for spoils in Garden of Salvation and Last wish raids?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 02:37 AM PDT

I know most of you probably dont care anymore about older raids but I think this would spark interest of many players as reason to go and do older raids cause they have finally option to properly farm guns they wanted. I would really welcome this QoL cause as rn % of gettin weapon with roll u want from older raid is just abysmal. (for example i want PvE bow from GoS and after 13 full runs I got 1 and it was absolute trash roll xd)
