[Spoiler] The six characters in the new cutscene reflect six types of people every LFG player has encountered.

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 11:00 AM PDT

Saint: standing still out in the open, using a (sunset!) shotgun at long range and not using his shield to protect the others.

Mithrax: Equipped a single-target exotic heavy (Queenbreaker), used it for add clear.

Ikora: 100 intellect min-maxer chaining supers, saved the group from a wipe.

Holliday: Came in with PvP weapons (Chaperone) equipped, refused to switch.

Zavala: Did nothing but Hip-fire a sunset auto rifle (Origin Story).

Osiris: AFK/Left the fireteam cause he thought the group was going to wipe.

Towerthought: Bungie used Season of the Splicer's narrative to make everyone feel good about killing off faction rallies permanently.

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 11:58 AM PDT

    • Sympathetic race with adorable babies that need protecting: check.
    • Convincingly unhinged and villainous faction leader: check.
    • Sudden end to each of the factions all at once: check.

    Well played, Bungie. Well played.

[SPOILERS] FYI, there’s an explanation for the bad aim of the [enemy race] in the epilogue cutscene

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 05:41 AM PDT

So I've seen quite a few people complain that the Vex couldn't land a single hit in the epilogue cutscene and that it doesn't feel realistic or whatever.

While it surely looks weird, there's actually an explanation: as you can read in the Cryosthesia lore tab, the Splicer Gauntlet can be used to throw off the Vex's aim:

She raised her dominant hand and the thin spindles of her Splicer Gauntlet clacked into place and began to spin.

She saw the Vex targeting field sweep over her, flashing crimson and white. She shifted it with a wave of her hand and a hundred shots flew wide.

She looked over the gleaming field of enemies. The Light provides, she thought, and the next volley of Vex fire curved around her

Mithrax was present at the battle, so it's not too far-fetched to say the Vex didn't hit anyone because he was actively throwing off their aim!

Edit: well I didn't expect this to blow up, it's virtually impossible to reply to every comment but just know that I appreciate all the inputs and the discussion they generate!

I made a tool so you never have to look for a shader again.

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 08:29 PM PDT

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KRMzeFusOAKv02jpIKuBKf377NuzZd7jhRDYjdLCyu4/edit?usp=sharing

    Hello all

(this is a copy-paste from my post on the destiny companion app)

I just wasted a couple hours of my wednesday to make this. I realized how long it takes to look through all shaders and decided to find a way to make it WAY faster. With this sheet, that is.

This tool works by assigning each shader 2 of its most common colors. The most common color (primary) is across the top of the sheet, and secondary color is down the side. Lets say you want a shader that is mostly red with a bit of blue. First, you would find the "red" column, then find the "blue" row and where they intersect. That square contains all the shaders that fit that description. Say, Devil in the Details. Use the second sheet and find the name in the leftmost column. The row tells you where to find the shader in the collections>flair>shaders section. Devil in the Details is in Activities, 1 A 3. In activites, page 1, leftmost column (ABC), row 3rd from the top. Preview it, and see if its what youre looking for. As a side note, any shader with ([color]) after it, is a trinary shader, which instead of having a "strong" color and a "weak" color, may have one "strong" color and two "weak" colors. Examples of this include many of the white/grey shaders like iron mossbone, which has a significant amount of gold, rather than just being 95% white and grey. Shaders that are in a c / c cell are solid color shaders. Shaders that are >95% of one color, such as bitterpearl or honors of the nine in the white / white cell.

Theres a few problems with this though. The first one is that destiny color palettes are not at all simple. you pick a shader with the icon containing reds and whites, and when you preview it, your chestplate is green, even though there wasnt any green in the icon. This can lead to some inconsistencies with the tool. I have a feeling that the way bungie made shaders, is by assigning colors to materials, rather than general colors. For example, all metals on a character should be x, all fabrics should be y, and all fabric accents should be z. Each armor piece should also have different rotations of colors, so not every armor has a primary color, and the primary and secondary colors are swapped. This would result in many different armors revealing otherwise invisible colors that show up randomly out of the icon.

So if you try a shader, and it has vastly different colors than you see its supposed to have on the sheet, don't hesitate to comment so I can go back and update it. If you look at the bottom of the first sheet, you will see that there are some shaders not on the list. These are shaders I couldn't place because the color mixes were confusing, (like purple/green/brown) or the colors changed vastly with different armors. Ill go back and place those where they should go eventually and update the sheet.

    Happy coloring!

Update: after not at all expecting this to get as popular as it did this fast, I placed a few more of the shaders I originally couldnt. Only one left I still cant figure out how to place is Distant Earth, W1C4, because its like 4 colors evenly distributed. if anyone has any ideas, feel free to say so

Would have been a nice nod for Saint to use Bubble for the end, to show the Fallen that it can be used to protect friends rather than a place to destroy one's enemies.

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 08:22 AM PDT

(Also, would have made sense to stop the Vex from shooting the Fallen instead of the Vex just being Stormtroopers and missing all their shots)

Now that we're friends with the Eliksni, Randal needs to bring it on home

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 06:34 AM PDT

Don't get me wrong, Mithrax is great, but let's be real here...the dude chooses to waste his exotic spot on an LFR. Gross.

And even if he didn't, we guardians are already good at killing stuff. What we need is for the enemy to not shoot at us. Why do you think blinding nades are so popular?

Enter Randal. Bro is a straight up tanky bullet sponge. We can just go into GMs with him up front taking all the fire (we'll be sure Ada hooks him up with concussive dampener) and we can sit back and scout everything to death like we're good at. It's basically a win-win.

Edit: In reaction to today's mods tweet, replace "scout everything to death" with "ticcu's everything to death." I stand by my disgust of LFRs.

Can we get more linear fusion rifle frames

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 02:05 PM PDT

linear fusion rifles have been in the game since Season 1, and Currently there is/has only been 1 frame for an LFR, precision,

heck bows where introduced in forsaken and have more frames, same with machine guns which where dropped in Black armoury.

now i believe bungie should introduce new frames for the LFRs and i have a couple ideas below or maybe give them the GL treatment.

    Rapid Fire, Beam Frame,

now these are existing frames for all weapons, but just adding some new frames would spice up the LFR pool.

    Rapid Fire;

Deeper Ammo reserves, Faster reload when Mag is empty, enhanced cycling Model allows continues charge

    • this would come with a low charge time, im thinking 400, 440, 480
      • with Liquid coils normal and accelerated coils
    • with the usual rapid-fire frame goodies,
    • BUT with a little bit of spice, you can lay on the trigger and this will keep charging and shooting until the mags empty

    Beam Frame ;

High Damage, High charge time ; fully charging this weapon unleashes an devastating short range beam,

    • this is an idea partially from u/JaegerBane
    • this would be an VERY low range LFR,
      • also with low mag size, maybe 3
    • but it would fire a high powered short ranged beam rather then an single bolt,
    • this beam wouldn't be very long lasting,
      • about 1/2 to 1/4 the duration of 1k beam,
        • think halo 5 binary rifle with a charge time
    • can crit for high damage
    • charge time would be about 600, 650, 700
      • with Liquid coils normal and accelerated coils

Aggressive, this idea has been scraped

High Damage, Moderate charge time, this weapon consumes special ammo

    • now hear me out for this one. as i know it might be controversial
    • this would be a special ammo LFR,
    • with a charge time sitting at 600, 650, 700.
    • this would have a damage per shot similar to an aggressive sniper,

    thoughts?

Idea: Have Alternate Characters Hang Out in the H.E.L.M

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 07:12 AM PDT

I have no idea if it's possible, and it's not really a pressing or much-needed feature, but it might be cool if Bungie could make it so our alternate characters (if you have any) are just hanging in the H.E.L.M as NPCs.

I don't know about you guys, but I kinda think of my three characters as a fireteam, and I'm a bit bummed I never get to see them together. I just think it would be neat to see my two other characters hanging out by the War Table or by the Splicer Servitor or something.

Again, no idea if it's possible from a programming perspective but it could be just a fun little feature for those with multiple characters :)

Bungie nailed the narrative system in the seasonal model

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 05:39 AM PDT

Seriously, getting a predictable pacing of actual lore, story content, cutscenes, and a few steps forward in the overarching narrative is absolutely amazing.

And yeah, I know the seasonal model has its faults on the content and gameplay side. Especially with how the overarching model is repeating, but boy oh boy do I love what ita done with the story itself.

I feel like the year of Beyond Light has shoved the Destiny 2 story more forward than the three previous years COMBINED. And to top it off, over the course of the last 3 years things have been moving towards "Showing" (via missions and cutscenes) instead of just "Telling" (via lorebooks and Lore Content creators).

I really hope this seasonal story model continues to improve during Witch Queen, because I cant wait to see what's in store for us next.

Towerthought: in a more cynical game, the end of this season would feel very much like a Vanguard Coup.

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 10:13 PM PDT

Ikora: Hey so Lakshimi, that woman who was going on about how we are corrupt and need a change in leadership, suddenly turned up dead. Vex Goblin. Tragic. Also the other factions left and with the speaker dead it's pretty much just me and Zavala in charge. Good thing we did not invite a small army of aleins into the city to serve as a police force and don't have a army of immortal overseeing demigods to oversee them OH WAIT.

Like, if I were a ordinary citizen in the Last City right now I'd be fucking scared for my human rights.

It's a good thing we as players know we can trust the Vanguard, but the City is probably gonna have a few rough nights over tbhis,.

More raid exotics should get the Divinity treatment

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 05:59 AM PDT

This is coming from someone who was fairly lucky with getting raid exotics, at most it took like 20 clears or so to get any given one.

But even I still think Divinity being a quest was so much better, it adds a challenge, and removes RNG. I really don't know why they didn't do the same with Eyes, I can understand Mythoclast, I just hope they do more quest raid exotics in the future.
