This week at Bungie, the hunt is on.

Heroic Nightmare Hunts went live this week. Guardians must confront familiar foes from their past along with powerful Champions who will become more challenging over the next few weeks as the additional difficulties unlock. Keep a look out as new Nightmares emerge for the Legend and Master hunts.

That wasn't the only event that started up this week. The Vex didn't take too kindly to us venturing into the Black Garden. They have begun their own invasion and can be found mobilizing on the Moon. Fight off the Vex in our new six-player activity, the Vex Offensive. It's available now for all Season Pass owners.

    Too Heavy

Earlier this week, we issued a server-side change to reduce the amount of Heavy ammo spawning in the Crucible. The change affected Control, Clash, and Supremacy. We also have Heavy ammo changes planned for 3v3 Survival in a future update. You can read the full details here.

That wasn't the only quick reaction we made to the Crucible environment this week. We also issued a server-side change that affected matchmaking in 3v3 Survival. You can read about the change here.

Experimentation with the 3v3 Elimination game mode is ongoing in the Crucible Labs. The first settings we deployed saw Heavy ammo spawning 90 seconds into every round. Revive tokens were also enabled. There was a bug causing Heavy ammo to spawn in instantly, but we were able to get that fixed with a server change. This week, these settings were slightly adjusted. Instead of receiving revive tokens, players can revive as many times as they are able—but the revive timer grows longer each time a player goes down.

Two additional configurations will be introduced in the weeks to come. Our plan is to gather feedback on what you like the best. If you played Elimination back in D1, next week's settings might be familiar to you.

    Iron Banner

    Image Linkimgur

Lord Saladin is about to make his first appearance in Season of the Undying. The great fires of the Iron Banner will burn again as Guardians face off against each other for bragging rights and new rewards.

    Iron Banner and Valor Bonus

Start: 10 AM PDT on October 15

End: 10 AM PDT on October 22

This season, willing combatants have a chance to earn the new Iron Will armor set. Here is a look at what you stand to gain in battle.

    Video Link

The way you earn rewards in Iron Banner is changing this Season:

    • There is a new Seasonal pursuit, which must be completed prior to being able to turn in tokens to purchase packages from Lord Saladin

      • This pursuit is character based and rewards the new S8 armor set
      • Each step of the pursuit awards Iron Banner weapons or armor
      • Most of the objectives within the pursuit track progress at any point during Season of the Undying, even if you have not yet acquired the pursuit
    • Until the Seasonal pursuit has been completed, all rewards will be obtained from completing matches and bounties

      • All rewards are weapons until the Seasonal pursuit is complete
      • The existing seven bounties that offered powerful rewards have been adjusted to offer pinnacle rewards (960 Power max,) but only four are available per event
        • We are tracking a bug in which the four bounties offered as pinnacle rewards rotate each day allowing more than four to be completed during a single event

Because Iron Banner has its own version of Control, the Heavy ammo spawning changes we made early this week will not be reflected in this Iron Banner. We are planning to make this change in a future update before the next event.

    Now go control those zones!

    First to Finish

Last Saturday, the race began to complete "Garden of Salvation," the newest Destiny 2 raid. As is tradition, players prepared the best they could and waited at the starting line to see if they could rise above the rest and finish first. We watched on as fireteams fought their way through the mysterious Black Garden. Reaching the final boss was only the beginning, as several teams all stacked up and began to try to put the pieces together and be the first to take it down. In the end, Clan Ascend emerged victorious, finishing an astonishing 2 minutes before the second team. We asked them to share a bit about their experience.

Congratulations on being World First for Garden of Salvation! Tell us a little about your clan.

Ascend: Our clan was built with the intention of going hardcore on Destiny 2's raids! We were founded back in Forsaken, a month before "Scourge of the Past' was about to go live.

Since then, we have been doing speed runs, World First attempts, as well as low man and low Light challenges. Our ritual was to do a lot of the previous raids under leveled while making sure we focus on executing the mechanics as smoothly as possible! We have achieved a 4th spot on "Scourge of the Past," a 9th spot on "Crown of Sorrow" and now finally we have gotten our World First that we have been putting so much effort in together! The clan is trying to focus on a very small community that enjoys playing and interacting with each other so we can push each other further than we would have gotten before and ascend together to the top!

Practice how you play. That's smart. What were some of your favorite moments during the raid?

Ascend: First of all, the STUNNING scenery. Honestly, this raid is so beautiful! The tether mechanic was awesome, even though it got hectic at times. Figuring out encounters together as a team is always fun, and then executing them with as little deaths as possible is just always a great time!

Anything else you would like to say as a team?

Ascend: Thanks to everyone for stopping by and giving us some love after the clear! Thanks to all the big streamers that we look up to who came to spread the love. Thanks for all the compliments that we have gotten. It's honestly still unbelievable that we have achieved this—especially because it was such a super close and intense race with Reality... And of course, thank you Bungie for making these races possible!

Congratulations to Ascend on the World First victory. We also want to congratulate all of the teams who showed up make an attempt and all of the teams who have been able to clear the raid thus far.

Need help getting the most out of your lunar excursions? Player Support has the info you need.

    This is their report.

    Destiny 2 Hotfix 2.6.0.3

This week, we deployed Destiny 2 Hotfix 2.6.0.3 to players on all platforms. This hotfix targeted an emergent issue where players participating in equipment-locked activities would not receive the Gate Lord's Eye artifact when claiming it at Season Rank 7.

As with all updates and hotfixes, players should follow @BungieHelp on Twitter or monitor our support feed on help.bungie.net for the latest details as soon as they are available.

    Did You Know?

Help.bungie.net hosts more than just a feed of support messages from Bungie. It is the landing page of our knowledgebase archive, where players can search key terms to find official documentation from Destiny Player Support. Additionally, it features a tile board of linked images which directs players to support content for immediately relevant Destiny releases.

Are you new to Destiny 2? Check out our New Player Guide and Destiny 2 Guided Support.

Jumping in for Shadowkeep? See our support resources for Shadowkeep and Season of the Undying.

Getting set up on Steam? Visit our Destiny 2 PC Guide and PC Move support pages.

    Destiny 2 Known Issues

In addition to the support resources above, Destiny Player Support monitors player reports on our local #Help forum and tallies the latest issues into our Known Issues thread. Listed below is a selection of issues that have been reported by players:

    • Players may encounter crashes in the Gofannon Forge.
    • "The Enhance!" EDZ quest is no longer available to veteran characters.
    • The "Exodus Black" Nessus quest cannot be reclaimed if abandoned.
    • Some players who created a new character right before October 1 will be at 0 Power when logging in. To resolve this, players will need to delete their affected character and create a new one.
    • The "Show Me What You Got" Achievement/Trophy can no longer be unlocked on characters created prior to Shadowkeep. This can only be unlocked by creating a new character and proceeding through the New Light experience.
    • The perks for Lunafaction Boots do not describe their updated functionality.
    • The "Scan Patrol" Triumph won't gain progress if scans are completed in the Chasm area on the Moon.

Additionally, investigations are ongoing for issues reported by players attempting to perform PC migration. Since launch, we have deployed several updates to Bungie.net and encourage all affected players to try again. As always, players who encounter issues are encouraged to report them to our #Help forum.

Shadowkeep is a great expansion but vendor loot is in dire need of a refresh

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 04:00 PM PDT

SK has brought lots of great systems, activities and features to Destiny but I feel like the ball was dropped in terms of loot, specifically weapons.

We're now over a year with the same world and vendor loot pool and it feels very stale. This is coming with the TWAB today implying there's no new Iron Banner Weapons.

Forget about my tenth Better Devils, my hundredth is insta-shard no matter the roll.

The fact that nightmare hunts don’t count as activities on the moon for the essence quests for the moon gear is kinda dumb

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 09:31 AM PDT

Why restrict it to just patrols and public events when you have nightmare hunts that all take place on the moon? It'd give me more of a reason to do the hunts.

Exotic Armor should not have elemental affinity

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 12:28 PM PDT

Exotic armor is one of the few pieces of armor we can pull from collections. People use specific exotic armor pieces for the perks they offer, not for anything else.

If your exotic armor piece didn't roll with the correct affinity, you're essentially being punished for playing with the exotic armor that benefits your play style. We're limited to one exotic piece anyway, and it's named "exotic" after all, why not remove elemental affinity and allow for any mods that you've collected for that piece to be applied?

Explaining Raid Encounters Using the EDGE Method

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 12:24 PM PDT

    Introduction

We all remember our first raid. We either had to have the encounter explained over voice chat or we had to watch a video guide. With all the incoming New Light players, I thought I'd make this post to try and help you become a better teacher. If you are a sherpa already, thank you for your service. Maybe I'll be able to help you teach a tad better with this post. If you want to become a sherpa and need help explaining encounters, this post is for you.

This post is pretty long, so sit tight. No TL;DR because this is a pretty big topic to cover.

    Teaching Basics

Before we start, there are a couple rules that you need to follow when teaching.

    1. One person should be talking at a time to avoid confusion.
    2. Talk in the third person. Here's why.
    3. Do not interrupt someone's explanation to correct them on something unless it is absolutely necessary. This may lower the teacher's credibility.
    4. BE KIND.

Now that we've gotten all of that out of the way, let's get into the art of teaching. If you're a veteran sherpa, let me know if I missed anything vital here and I'll edit it in.

    The EDGE Method

The EDGE Method is a way of teaching someone just about anything using four relatively simple steps. For this post, I'll be using the Gauntlet encounter from the Leviathan raid as an example because it's a fun and relatively simple encounter and also because everyone that owns New Light has access to the Leviathan raid.

EDGE is an acronym that stands for Explain, Demonstrate, Guide, and Enable. These are the four steps used in the process of teaching an encounter. Here's what they mean more in-depth.

Explain: Here, you'll be explaining what it is you're teaching. In this case, it's an encounter. Identify the objective and how your team will get there. Basically, give the student a basic description of how the encounter works.

    • "One thing I also found is start explaining at the macro level and move down to explain the micro level... And I also found explaining some encounters backwards also helps." - /u/APartyInMyPants

Demonstrate: In this step, show the student yourself doing whatever you're teaching. You'll want to explain what you're doing as you're doing it. For our encounter analogy, go around the arena and act out what you'll be doing in the encounter. You may have to start the encounter to get the point across. This is okay. Just demonstrate and have the student watch you.

Guide: Next, you'll have the student do their part in the encounter with your help. Remember that they've never done this before. You'll have to step in to assist with lots of things, and that's okay.

Enable: Finally, the student will be doing their part of the encounter with minimal help from you. All you're doing now is enabling the student to help the team.

Now, let's take a look at this in the context of the Gauntlet, our encounter example.

Explain The goal of the Gauntlet is to dunk all the orbs into the middle. The team will be split into subteams of three, with one runner and two helpers each, etc. If you have time, you could explain what the helpers do (newbies are often assigned as runners) so that the student will have knowledge when they do the raid in the future.
Demonstrate For the Gauntlet, you will most likely want to start the encounter, so that the student will know what the Gauntlet looks like on the inside. Show, don't just tell. Show where the psionic orb things are located for the Runners to get into the Gauntlet and where to dunk the orbs, as well as what the walls look like inside the Gauntlet.
Guide If you assign the student as a runner, you shouldn't have too much trouble just communicating through voice. If they're a helper, on their first couple attempts, stay at their plate with them to help them get the hang of it.
Enable Now, you're ready to give the encounter a shot! Make sure to give the student support if they need it.

And that's the EDGE method! If you want to know a little more about team development, you can read on. If you just need the basics, you're good to stop now.

    The Stages of Team Development

I've been in many a raid group that has gotten into arguments about, well, everything. Maybe if you can understand why this happens, you might be able to speed the process a bit. Note: You may go through the stages over the course of the raid, but more than likely, you'll go through the entire process in each encounter. It's also okay to kind of go back and forth between stages. This is most common between Storming and Norming.

Forming This is when the team is formed.
Storming This is the step where the most arguments happen, hence the name. Despite its nature, this is the most important step.
Norming This step is where the conflicts in Storming get hammered out and the team moves on. Not all conflicts have to be resolved to move on to Norming, but you will probably go back to Storming if this is the case.
Performing This is your team at its best. Your team has learned to function together and this is when you complete the encounter.

    FAQ

How are you qualified to teach this? Do you have a degree?

No, I don't have a degree. I learned all this through Scouts BSA and from a National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) course I attended and later staffed. It's an amazing program.

Where can I find more information about this kind of stuff?

The NYLT Syllabus can be found online in PDF form by googling 'national youth leadership training syllabus' and clicking the top link. It's a whopping 400+ pages long and includes more in-depth information on EDGE.

    Any other tips for teaching?

Be kind! As long as you can do that and keep your cool, you'll be okay.

    Signing Off

Thanks for reading this behemoth! I hope this helps in any way it can in teaching you how to teach something new to someone. Feel free to ask questions if you'd like and I'll do my best to answer them.

Edit: First Silver! Thanks, fellow Guardian!

Edit 2: Added to the "Explain" section. /u/APartyInMyPants brought up a great point.

Bungie, can you remove the "weekly" icon on the destination map from the tower for Ada and Werner?

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 03:18 PM PDT

I don't care if they stay blue when you open the tower map, but don't keep the icon glowing on the destination map. They aren't relevant anymore, they don't give powerful rewards, and its irritating to see that icon constantly lit up on the destination map.

Bungie, I'm more likely to spend money on Eververse if ALL the ornaments are not locked behind a paywall

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 05:24 PM PDT

With the inventory leaks coming out this week. It seems that all of the weapon ornaments are locked out to silver only. I'm making this post because I want bungie to see this is a mistake for two very important reasons

    1. You stripped a valuable piece of content from your game. Part of the end game experience for me in year 2 was getting all the weapon cosmetics to drop from bright engrams. Most people are feeling the lack of content because of the many things other DLCs brought to the table, including vendor weapons, more exotics and of course, the bright engram inventory, which has near been completely removed from the game.

    2. I am more willing to spend money on an eververse item if I feel the selection is smaller, thus making me feel I can collect as much as possible. One of the few ornaments I actually bought was the whisper ornament back in year 2, and I didnt feel like I wasted my money because there was only a few things to buy (that and thunderlord). Now I am overwhelmed and I can't help to feel what should be free content in the game is now locked behind a paywall. I know this game is free to play now, but lets be real, no free to play player is buying these cosmetics..

I know these are just leaks, but most likely these will turn out to be correct, so I'm letting you know now bungie, this is not a road you want to go down. You've been doing very well up until now and I would hate to see you turn into a company like Rockstar just because you dont have a publisher anymore.

Equip Eriana's Vow While Playing Team Scorched for Free Catalyst Progress

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 06:45 AM PDT

Free progress on the catalyst, even better if your rank 22 on the Season Pass.

The gamemode is fun and chill, kinda like Mayhem.

The games go by very quick, because first team to 50.

You're not going to be shooting Eriana's Vow, so you don't have to worry about aim(aka you get to be lazy).

You get your powerful reward(tier 1) after your first 4 games in the Rotator playlist.

Put on (St0mp-EE5/Lion Rampant/Top Tree Dawnblade)+max mobility) for maximum BM.

Bungie, if 90% of the game is going to be the same content we've been playing for the past 1-2 years, we at least need new loot filling up that old content

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 04:34 PM PDT

It's getting really, really boring to run the same old vanguard strikes and gambit maps and flashpoint, etc etc when it also drops the same loot but with a higher number on it.

And this isn't just a new seasonal DLC drop, this is a new expansion. The start of Year 3 of Destiny 2.

We have no new Iron Banner weapons, no new strike loot, crucible loot, nightfall loot, EDZ, Titan, Mercury, Mars, Io, Nessus, Tangled Shore, or Dreaming City loot. No new lost sector loot. These are still relevant activities that you want people playing, so put some loot into them! The whole point of the game can't just be to increase our power number every season.

Pinnacle leveling (950-960) is broken. Here’s why.

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 03:04 AM PDT

As it stands, getting to 960 base power (not including the artifact) is broken. As some of you may know, once you hit 950 the only way to progress to 960 is doing the pinnacle power rewards which are the raid and 100k nightfall. These all drop at +1 power. This means you will need to get all 951 armour and guns before being able to begin having 952 items dropping. The giant glaring issue to this is that there aren't even enough drops before the end of the season to make it to 960. To make things even worse, there is no raid heavy. This means that you better pray for god rng to get a heavy from one of your three nightfalls each week, otherwise you're locked out. We're looking at a forever 950 situation here because of this. The raid loot pool is also heavily favouring energy weapons which doesn't help. This HAS to be a huge oversight.

Edit: since many of you are either missing the point entirely or cant seem to grasp the math behind this.

    • once you hit 950 pinnacles drop +1 of your base power (not including artifact)
    • assuming perfect rng you need 80 perfect drops in order with no duplicates (very unlikely) to hit 960
    • currently there are 5 pinnacle drops per week (4 raid, 1 nightfall)
    • there are 7 weeks left in the season which means assuming you are 950 base power right now you have 35 potential drops remaining before the season ends.
    • this leaves 45 drops unaccounted for, again assuming absolutely perfect rng.
    • even if next week they decide to add 6 more pinnacle drop sources per week you will still miss the 960 cap assuming they you never get a duplicate slot before increasing your base power (again very unlikely)
    • note: this ignore the fact that the raid is HEAVILY weighted to getting energy drops (in my groups runs this week we got an average of 8 energy drops out of a potential 12 drops across all three characters
    • note: this ignores the fact that the raid has no heavy drop and the nightfall is currently the only way to get a power upgrade in that slot. (if you miss a heavy drop from your nightfall each week you're essentially screwed)
    • note: This is not meant to complain the grind is too long, I'm all for a lengthy power grind. The point is to show that 960 power is straight out not possible.

Edit 2: My clan mate did the following timeline and im reposting below as this further illustrates the point

Rough timeline for pinnacle drops, assuming iron banner drops 8, dungeon drops 3, master nightmares drop 1 (which I doubt), raid challenge drops 1, and final assault drops 1 (also doubt) This also assumes truly perfect RNG (impossible), ignores the raid loot weighting toward energy weapons, and assumes you're 950 this week (unrealistic for most players)

    -------Start next reset-------

10/15 reset: Iron banner. 13 total pinnacles for the week. Gets you to 951. Need 3 more for 952.

10/22 reset: Hunts added. 6 total pinnacles for the week. Gets you 952. Need 5 more for 953.

10/29 reset: Dungeon added. 9 total pinnacles for the week. Gets you 953. Need 4 more for 954.

11/5 reset: Raid challenge added. 10 total pinnacles for the week. Gets you 954. Need 2 more for 955.

11/12 reset: 10 total pinnacles for the week. Gets you 956. Need 8 more for 957.

11/19 reset: Final assault added. 11 total pinnacles for the week. Gets you 957. Need 5 more for 958.

11/26 reset: 11 total pinnacles for the week. Gets you 958. Need 2 more for 959.

12/3 reset: 11 total pinnacles for the week. Gets you 960 with 1 extra drop.

    -------Season ends on next reset-------

Working as intended, just be 950 by week 2 and have impossibly perfect rng

I appreciate that ranking up the season pass does not force me to collect the rewards immediately. I can save the glimmer or loot drops for when I have space in my glimmer account, or when the armor is a bigger upgrade.

I LOVE that the uncollected armor keeps rising in power level, rather than being set the moment I achieve that rank. Otherwise some ranks might feel wasted.

    Thanks Bungie!

You have seen a double finisher... BUT HAVE YOU SEEN A TRIPLE FINISHER?

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 10:58 AM PDT

The Mountaintop, 150RPM GLs, Izanagi's Burden, Whisper of the Worm, and you (or: a case against Grenade Launchers and for the other two)

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 05:51 PM PDT

You may remember me as the guy who shit on Recluse a bit too much here and honestly after giving it a fair comparison, I agree that I was way too hard on it and it's a huge outlier.

But that is neither here nor there.

It's single target DPS time using big guns

    The subjects:

After it's huge popularity the past few seasons, seeing an indirect but pretty hefty nerf with autoloading going away, I wanted to see how Mountaintop stacks up. I also wanted to test a Masterworked Izanagi's with max reload speed. I also tested a regular kinetic sniper, Whisper, and a regular Rocket Launcher for comparison. Less important but I also tested Deathbringer for the hell of it.

For Izanagi's, I only gauged the damage for Honed Edge x4. For Mountaintop, I had a boss spec and Spike Grenades on. For a kinetic sniper I used Tranquility with Firing Line and Boss Spec. For a legendary rocket I used a Zenobia-D with Impact Casing. For a 150RPM GL, I used by Outrageous Fortune with Spikes and Boss Spec.

    Testing Methods:

Shot the Ogre in the Tribute Hall, and stacked buffs to achieve reload speed cap for each weapon. Was 951 at all times using whatever weapon I was testing at 926. I recorded my game to find the average time it took to fire a magazine and reload. I then calculated the damage per second of all of these weapons with consideration for reloading.

Except Deathbringer. I regret doing Deathbringer. To test it, I decided to find the minimum damage it could do, since that still might be useful for comparison's sake. I stood 10m away (measured with DARCI) from the Ogre and shot Deathbringer straight at him, and recorded the lowest damage (pellets that hit him instantly) and assumed all 7 pellets would deal that minimum damage. Reload speed was counted as the time between the frame the animation started and the frame I could fire again, the ammo counter refreshes waaay before you can fire again

    The Data:

As always if I screwed anything up math-wise that needs to be brought up, the spreadsheet is at the bottom, although its a bit of a mess. But here's the whole table if you don't need to see my clusterfuck Excel math. For reference since I didn't fix my shorthand, FL = Firing Line, Boss = Boss Spec Mod, Heart = Heart of the Pack buff, Tempered = Tempered Metal buff. Some columns are effectively deprecated (namely Reloads and Time for x Reloads, since I was originally going to empty reserves, count the reloads, and count the total time, but I didn't need to, I just used the in-game RPM to determine how long it would take to fire the magazine, then added in the reload time to get the RPsec with Reload, which averages the Rounds Per Second across the time it takes to fire a full magazine and reload)

Name Weapon LL My LL Buff 1 Buff 2 Buff 3 Buff 4 Damage(base per shot) Damage(base per mag) Reloads Time for x Reloads(seconds, frames) Time for x Reloads (s) Time per Reload (s) RPSec with Reload Full Mags Pellets Pellet Damage Damage (base + pellets) DPS Damage per Reserves Reserve Dump Time(s)

Good god that's a lot of columns.

    Analysis:

With the removal of autoloading, Mountaintop saw a HUGE nerf. While it used to be able to fire at 90rpm consistently, or 1.5 shots a second,it now only fires 26RPM, or 0.43 shots a second. That's a massive difference. Meanwhile, Whisper of the Worm post-White Nail nerf is now much more unique, since Lunafactions and Rallies don't make its signature perk useless. And it shines. Whisper is pretty handily the DPS king here, assuming you can keep Whispered Breathing up and fire at the max 72RPM. (although I didn't test Darci but I really didn't want to since autoloading removal means I'd need to factor in activating Personal Assistant every magazine and that's just enough to run the mental gymnastics required to just say 'eh')

Looking at the raw DPS numbers, Mountaintop is pathetic. Tranquility, the other Kinetic Special Ammo Legendary on the list more than doubles Mountaintop's DPS output. Even a Legendary Rocket has climbed up past the peaks of the Mountaintop. Whisper now does about 50% more DPS than a 150RPM Spike GL, where just last month those same GLs made Whisper go cry to grandma Black Hammer because the GLs got the same toy from Uncle Lunafaction and Aunt Rally as Whisper's family heirloom White Nail. The only thing even close to Whisper is... Izanagi's Burden.

SO, may I draw your attention to the fish-emblazoned, unsheathing-sounding, sexy-sleek, fucking sword-inspired BEHEMOTH that is the single-shot damage of Izanagi's Burden. It dwarfs the single shot damage of Whisper by over twofold, and that of Zenobia by almost just as much. It just takes longer to do it. But seriously,

Izanagi's Burden does about 10% less DPS than Whisper as long as its ripping fat 4x Honed Edge shots. Though it only has about half the uptime (11.5s vs 21.6s to load and dump all reserves) it is a special weapon going almost toe to toe with the latest and not really greatest of the Black Hammer lineage. It doesn't require anything special either, no aiming for 2 seconds or whatever and then chaining 18 headshots together while pulling down on your mouspad or right thumbstick like a madman like Whisper does. Moving on.

Deathbringer is an odd one here because I'm a little baby who has already too much but still not enough free time to test the value proposition of shooting it above an enemy for more damage. In the absolute worst case scenario, you're doing about 20% less damage than your Legendary counterpart. However, even just firing directly at the Ogre I noticed some of the pellets/seekers/whatever took an... unorthodox path to the target and sometimes did about triple what the ones that exploded immediately did. Also as a side note, Deathbringer deals no damage from a direct hit or the subsequent explosion that spawns the pellets. Only the seven (nice touch Bungie) pellets deal any damage.

Discussion: (or: where I stop making friends)

The take away here is Mountaintop bad, Whisper good.

Ok fine, the raving masses demand my insight once more. Now compared to its post-nerf counterparts, Whisper has come back on top. (excluding DARCI, although going off of Datto's video here from Opulence, DARCI used to be about 20% or so ahead, and the removal of autoloading on that likely brings it down to Whisper's level, if not lower) Izanagi's Burden is a viable alternative without the hassle of activating Whispered Breathing and never unscoping or missing. (although missing a Honed Edge x4 shot isn't exactly ideal either) 150RPM Grenade Launchers are still probably your best bet for a Legendary Heavy for single target damage, as Rockets and MGs didn't see any boss damage improvements last patch. The sleeper hit here is Tranquility, which far outperformed how I thought a Legendary Sniper would. Zenobia is a best case scenario for Rockets, and even though I didn't factor in Cluster Bombs, their damage is pretty negligible now, and I didn't want to bother. Rockets aren't your best bet but at least they're not... The Mountaintop, tonight's biggest loser. While it does deal (very slightly more than) Sniper headshot level damage over a (small) area, I don't see it anywhere near the top of boss DPS charts anytime soon. While I won't call it bad, I would not advise using it over a well rolled Legendary Sniper for boss damage if you can consistently hit headshots with the Sniper. While Mountaintop certainly has other uses it is great for, such as dealing with Majors, I would personally likely use a Sniper instead.

I have nothing to add on Deathbringer, other than "it's probably at least alright," it was kind of a stupid test.

Disclaimer: while I did not stack the exact same combination of reload speed buffs on every weapon, I am confident in my results that show the capped reload speed of Snipers, Rockets, and GLs all fall around 2.3 - 2.35s. I honestly probably could have only stacked two or so of these buffs and hit that cap, but I wanted to be sure. Additionally, I've seen posts that the damage modifiers on Tribute Hall enemies is borked, but to my knowledge that is only the redbars taking old crit modifier damage. Please correct me if this is wrong.

    Go forth, o reader mine
Edit: wait I forgot my spreadsheet
