In the leviathan raid, people always ask "Where are the dogs" but never "How are the dogs".

Bungie, will you switch this week's nightfall? There is an issue that prevents players from completing it, and you were almost instant in switching the nightfall last week when an issue made it easier.

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 04:38 AM PDT

There is a bug in this week's nightfall where you can essentially play all the way to the boss and it won't spawn in. As stated by Esoterickk on his latest video: 'There's also an issue at the start of the strike where the checkpoint won't load, and if you pass through the Infinite Forest without doubling back to trigger the checkpoint, it's impossible to progress the strike and you need to restart.'

Last week when there was an issue with The Festering Core and enemies being at 750 power, the nightfall was switched to The Pyramidion. Given that there is an issue preventing players from even finishing the strike in some instances, when will the nightfall be switched out this week?

Everybody please do your fellow guardian's a favor while running the Prophecy dungeon.. While on the sparrow course before the final boss; PLEASE WAIT FOR YOUR SLOWER TEAMMATES BEFORE OPENING THE HIDDEN CHEST.

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 09:35 AM PDT

The hidden chests will despawn shortly after being opened, making it unavailable to receive a loot drop for the players that didn't get there fast enough. Atleast consider it. Good luck!

Tribute hall should be replaced with us creating our own ascendant realm

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 09:14 AM PDT

Creating an ascendant realm has always been something wielded by the darkness (and Mara Sov which is an exception).

Since the leviathan along with the tribute Hall is getting vaulted and we are getting to finally wield the darkness it should totally be replaced with us creating a small realm of our own to replace the tribute hall we lost.

It wouldnt ever need to be vaulted as it wouldnt be tied to any specific location and most of the assets would already be in the game, even reuse some of Mara's since nobody has a reason to go there anymore.

Also... a quest to create our own realm would be badass.

I'm sick of D2's Iron banner weapons design, they will never excite me.

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 01:15 PM PDT

Maroon weapons with golden nipples don't strike my fancy. I wish they would go back to a more dark age look. Can't Bungie treat Iron banner like their Raids? Sorry for being blunt.

Also I screamed with excitement when I saw the Lord of wolves ornament.

WAN MOAR THING: I'm sad that Bungie finally introduced an Iron banner bow only to have it get sunset.

Bungie, making us compete for kills via bounties is leading to some pretty toxic behavior in strikes

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 01:08 PM PDT

Been running a lot of strikes this season do grind for triumphs and season pass so this didn't happen just in once or twice.

On multiple occasions fellow guardians will not res fallen guardians as they are just wanting the kills themselves for what I assume are bounties. (or they're dicks). Once a player actually emoted a laugh on my ghost.

Then there are times when a certain thing needs to be done (button press, collect something to insert) to make ads spawn in. So I'll see guardians sit (actually use a sit emote too) at where the ads will spawn in and refuse to go "do the thing" so they get just get more kills.

All in all its leading to some toxic behavior, and really I don't think this is what Bungie has in mind.

Not really sure of the fix here other than changing bounties to include "as a fireteam" but then that could make bounties be completed faster. (Not a problem to this guy!)

Ok rant over. Thanks for your hopefully positive feedback. Wear a mask ya'll

Trace Rifles need to be stronger than primary weapons as a whole if they are going to be classified as special weapons in crucible. If not, then they should be put back in the primary weapon category as they are.

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 09:28 PM PDT

Right now the faster killing trace rifles like coldheart and wavesplitter ideal-times-to-kill (.73 seconds) falls in line with adaptive auto rifles (.70), aggressive pulse rifles (.73), adaptive SMGs (.73), and aggressive burst sidearms (.73). Cited from here for comparison, traces being sorted under auto rifles.

As u/Moshiyitsu stated in my last post:

It's actually worse than the spreadsheet looks because even though the spreadsheet says they have much better stats than Autos, in practice they don't. The Aim assist on Trace Rifles doesn't affect bullet magnetism, only reticle stickiness, which is useless on PC anyway and on console bullet magnetism is super helpful on full auto weapons. For the range, a properly rolled Adaptive has about the same range as most traces, and about 30% more range than Ruinous Effigy. Their superior Stability and Accuracy are negated by the fact that Autos can roll with Tap the Trigger, Zen Moment, Dynamic Sway Reduction, etc. And Lastly, their superior Mag size is negated by the fact that They only start with 50 shots in the first place and that they realistically take a higher percentage of that 50 ammo, compared to an auto rifles mag, to actually get a kill. They shouldn't even be compared to Auto Rifles in the first place- they should be being compared to snipers, shotguns, fusions, and single shot grenade launchers- the only reason they are is because of how needlessly bad they are now. You would never give up both your special and your exotic slot to run one of these in the Crucible. I'm not saying that Laser Tag Weekend needs to make a comeback, but there's no reason they should be so much worse of an option than their peers.

It's beyond me as to why this is an issue to begin with, but I think this really needs to be brought to Bungie's attention.

I finished the last of the catalysts this week. I'm finally done (for now). It's time to hand out the Catalyst Yearbook Awards.

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 02:17 PM PDT

Every single one of them, both collected and completed. In light of this, I've decided to give some of the standouts high school yearbook awards.

Biggest Flirt Symmetry takes this one. It's a catalyst that you thought you wanted, until you realized that it doesn't actually matter in PVE or PVP. Ever since you figured that out, it's sat in your collections, winking desperately at you every time you pull your Riskrunner from Collections to solo another dungeon.

Class Clown Skyburner's Oath, duh. More range? On a scout rifle? That already has a tracking projectile? That's funny shit!

Most Changed Oh man, this one definitely goes to Trinity Ghoul. Kudos to Bungie for getting this one right.

Life of the Party Rat King. So many parties necessary to finish this one. Runner ups include Sweet Business (who is a solid invite for any party), and Hard Light (who's a little more into the rave scene than you, but you appreciate their willingness to tone that shit down recently).

Best Laugh There aren't really very many to choose from here, but between Graviton Lance and Wardcliff Coil, I'd say Wardcliff has the better laugh.

Best bromance Sturm and Drang. Duh.

Best Dancer Nobody tangles with tangos quite like the Fighting Lion. It's a dance to the death, especially if the grenade bounces back at you... again.

Most likely to be late for class MIDA Multi-Tool. Virtually impossible to get your hands on until it was three miles south of the meta. Earns an extra commendation for being difficult even after arrival and requiring headshot kills in Crucible.

Most likely not to change at all Huckleberry. Insert "I'm perfect and have never done anything wrong" meme here, because I know it and still love her.

Most opinionated This one goes to the Sleeper Simulant, which over the years has both cleaved and divided guardian populations. Plus you get it out of Spire of Stars, which is equally divisive.

Most Accident-Prone Hi, Wardcliff Coil. Better tracking or not, I still kill myself way too often with this thing.

Most likely to become a motivational speaker Whisper of the Worm. Y O U S H A L L D R I F T can be motivational in some circumstances, as many of us have learned.

Most likely to save the planet Lumina's catalyst is all about saving our world, yo.

Most likely to win the lottery and lose the ticket The Fourth Horseman. You only thought you destroyed half of that boss's health in one volley... just wait til the servers forget.

Most likely to quietly take over the world Tractor Cannon. It's not sexy, but it is imminently useful.

Most likely to visit Mars Polaris Lance, duh.

Most likely to leave and never come back The catalyst sources for Acrius, Telesto, Sleeper Simulant, Whisper of the Worm, Worldline Zero, Skyburner's Oath, Polaris Lance, and Bad Juju are all leaving the game in September, but my money is on Worldline Zero. If Bungie devs had their way, Telesto's catalyst would never return--but let's be honest, we all know Bungie devs never have their way when it comes to Telesto.

Best all-around This one goes to Riskrunner. Riskrunner carried me to Blacksmith and through most of the Dreaming City solo content and continues to be relevant today in the Prophecy dungeon. You could argue that Whisper of the Worm deserves this spot, but since this is my list, I'm choosing my favorite.

    Final Thoughts

    Thunderlord catalyst when?

Savathuun is Destiny’s best written villain, not because she challenges us on the gameplay level but a meta level

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 08:51 AM PDT

    Spoilers for Dungeon lore -

Okay for those who both hadn't done the dungeon or heard Shaxx's lovely singing voice. About 6 months ago, there was a quest where we as players were able to hear Shaxx sing us a song. A song that went "I'm on the Moon, it's made of Cheese" weird but funny

That was until a voice line between the Drifter and Eris morn happened. In that voice line we discover this song that Shaxx heard was whispered to him by Savathuun. And more importantly, this song is a virus, Savathuun control and power over anyone who hears it. Scary right, Shaxx is now under her control. But no we also heard it from Shaxx. But when I say we, I don't mean our guardians, I mean us, the players

If you don't understand what I mean, heres the rundown,

How many people told their friends about that Shaxx voice line, or even straight up repeated it word for word. Basically doing what Savathuun wants them to. To spread the song so more people will hear it/do that quest/look up the video to hear the song.

Now I will admit I'm guilty of this, I told my friends (who had dropped off destiny) about this lore a week ago and just yesterday I found out they not only bought both the DLCs (Forsaken and Shadowkeep) but Beyond Light as well, and told their friends about it as well. Creating a ripple effect of people now interested in Savathuun's story and on a meta level, giving her "control" over the player base because we want to see this story play out, we want to know what's going to happen. And Bungie did this from the second we set foot in the dreaming city.

Bravo Bungie, good job writing an intimidating villain.

Please Make 6-Person Fireteams a Thing Outside of Crucible & Raids

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 08:47 AM PDT

    Dear Bungie

I remember being stationed in Germany out in the field and coming home to my copy of D1 waiting for me. It was an amazing experience to run through this new IP and storyline. This experience quickly caught on as I bought my new wife a PS4 and copy not one week later. That fall this spread to her family and slowly brought about each family member purchasing a PS4 and copy of this amazing game (6 total). Beginning in Year 1 Vanilla Destiny, there were 6 family members playing together and purchasing each subsequent expansion, season pass, and following suit for Destiny 2.

The fun we have with the game has been fading for some time since Shadowkeep because the core progress of the game can't be enjoyed by all 6 of us simultaneously. This game, despite a large geographical disparity (military-related for multiple people), has brought us together...even if it is just for raiding. However, the core gameplay has shifted in recent years towards interaction with the game world outside of raids: exotic quests, bounties, Blind Well, Escalation Protocol, and now Contact. As the game transitions towards these new experiences, players are operating under an old and outdated model that constrains their ability to experience them with the one thing that matters most: the relationships we build within this universe.

Fast forward 6 years and thousands of dollars spent from one family unit, we still do not have the ability to experience the core of the game together. How has this simple thing escaped the development process across all this time? Your 'why' for continuing this IP is to build relationships, play with friends, and enjoy the content. For years we have been fragmented in our efforts to enjoy the game together, whether that be Story, Patrol, Strikes, or Gambit.

If the servers already support greater than 6 individuals in any given instance, why are we unable to phase into the game with more than 3 people? Regardless of the many concerns the game has had over the years, this family has consistently stood by this IP and your contributions to this legacy. However, I see the writing on the wall with how this constraint is wearing down on the enjoyment we once had.

My fear isn't that we will fall off from Destiny, it's that many others in the community feel the same way. If so, please speak up. Bungie needs to know that this is a priority for the community; but if I'm wrong, then this can go down as just another failed attempt at change.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and take care.

I feel like in the Light versus Darkness aspect, Titan barricades should at the very least reflect taken knight fire, or take the brunt of the blow.

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 01:51 PM PDT

Not let the fire go through like it doesn't exist.

That said, I sincerely hope the Stasis barricades can do what light barricades can't...and allow me to have viable cover against Taken Knights.

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 01:01 PM PDT

I have friends still complaining about the infamous 39/40 and after getting my 40 nodes done, it's a slag to have to grind a minimum of 160 lost sectors to get the nodes done and that's with PERFECT luck and getting every single node and being lucky. And it would definitely be a lot easier for those who haven't even started the process of trying to get the Braytech weapons (which should also have a higher chance to get the schematics)

Having raids as part of the moments of triumph

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 03:13 PM PDT

All I can say is bravo to Bungie for this. Taking out the nostalgia aside it has been so refreshing to see so many players who have never tried one or any of the raids finally pluck up the courage and give it a go. I can sometimes hear the nerves in people but as a general rule, most new raiders have been smashing it.

I've been doing my best to help as many people get their first clears of the raids

(current stat tracker for me is Leviathan carries 37 Eater of worlds carries 35 Spire of stars carries 10 Last wish carries 17 Scourge of the past carries 57 Crown of sorrows carries 6 Garden of salvation carries 10)

And each time the sound of joy and sense of accomplishment from each individual is utterly brilliant. I am really hoping that this encourages more people to try raids in the future and expands the raiding community.

    Great job Bungie!!!

In the past 3 crucible games I've played in a row I have gotten killed immediately after spawning by someone with their super activated at least twice per match. It's really annoying and it's something that should be fixed. I can't do anything because I just spawned so I get absolutely destroyed by someone who is right next to my spawn.

CoS Raid Completion with Deaf Person

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 07:47 AM PDT

Last night my friends and I needed to search for two people for CoS. I really dislike the boss fight because it turns into a giant cluster when people mess up. Myself and another person on our team are really experienced with all the mechanics so we normally lead each encounter.

Anyway, we searched for 2 people and when we finally got some to join one of them messaged us that they were deaf and they understand if we want to kick them. We were highly skeptical of carrying someone who could not communicate but then they threw on their emblem that showed clears so we proceeded.

Let me just say, this person was fucking awesome. Like seriously, I could not believe how good they were at each encounter. The part that got me though was on the boss fight they died a few times and messaged us that we could just kick them since they were holding us back. We were like "PLEASE DONT LEAVE!" because it was one of our friends that kept messing up. This person did a great job messaging us and working with another completely random person. After the raid they thanked us a bunch via message.

If you get a fire team and someone says they are deaf, it might be worth your time to at least try it out. You might end up with the Lord of the Hearing Impaired like we did and they might be really fucking good at the game.

Btw- completed from start to finish in an hour and a half.

Hey dmg or Cozmo, a lot of our clan has been talking about what this vaulting/three year promise means in terms of the Tiger engine. Are you able to shed some light on this?

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 01:35 PM PDT

    u/Cozmo23, u/dmg04,
Unlike some, we were super stoked about you vaulting content for this game. We knew that the game was becoming unsustainable. (I actually cheered when I heard about all content going away). We're happy that you are considering the team at bungie, and their workflow. But it got us thinking... 3 years announced... that's a big commitment.

You are vaulting all this content because of storage and content creation, which is reasonable. But then we got to thinking that if there was a time in Destiny's lifecycle to overhaul the engine... Now would be it.

We are super shagrinned to hear that your team sometimes feels the crunch with supporting the game, and we are very curious with the timeline after the Activision split, and VoG coming back, is a Tiger Engine overhaul in the works? Or is that not being considered at this time?

Many people asked for the old raids to come back, but I believe the sentiment has always been of a technical hurdle, which is fair. I work in tech myself, so I know how development time is very precious.

So I wanted to hear what's talked about around the proverbial water cooler... Are there plans, or even a sentiment at the team that the Tiger Engine needs some TLC?

And I understand if you can't talk about it due to investors, or other contracts in place. Just blink twice for yes, and once for no. ;)

(Console) Prophecy Dungeon - Solo Flawless! Yes, another post... but for Titans.

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 03:40 PM PDT

Fellow guardians, it feels pretty awesome to have the hat-trick of solo flawless runs for the 3 dungeons. It's hard to get a regular 6-guardian team for raids, so the dungeons are perfect. Kudos to Bungie!

There have already been several posts chock full of amazing tips. Here's a few things, with much that is specific to my fellow crayon munchers out there. True to a Titan's nature, there was a lot of punching throughout - but not on those fire breathing knights.

Armour Mods: Worth re-iterating that these will make a huge difference to survivability. Of note, I had Taken Barrier, Hive Barrier, Minor Resist, Major Resist, Taken Armaments, and Oppressive Darkness.

Titan Subclass: Code of the Protector (top tree) Sentinel of course.

    - Towering Barricade,

    - Voidwall Grenade (maximises the duration of Oppressive Darkness)

    - Catapult Lift. I main this jump anyway, and it saved me more than once with the Phalanx Boss if I stepped off the edge.

Titan Exotic: With the exception of Lion Rampants for Ribbon Road (as a precaution I always equipped a sword & Lion Rampants), it was all about Crest of Alpha Lupi. The healing pulse made a huge difference to survivability. I've seen Strongholds be used effectively, but only on PC.

Weapons: I put on Taken Spec on all legendary weapons except for Orewing's Maul, on which I put Quick Access Sling.

Orewing's Maul - Stayed on the entire run, with blinding grenades, grave robber, and autoloading holster. This was the key to my Titan's success. You can switch it out during the Wastelands for kicks. Trinity Ghoul is fun there.

Forward Path - Stayed on for most of the run, with Feeding Frenzy & Multikill Clip. For the Phalanx Boss, I switched it for Monte Carlo

    Falling Guillotine for Phalanx Boss

    Xenophage for Hexahedron

    Anarchy for Kell Echo

Survivability: So how do these pieces come together?

Blinding Grenades - These are amazing, the blinding radius is pretty big. Stun a knight, switch to primary to weaken it, auto-loading holster readies another grenade to then shoot. Stun some psions, go in for a punch to gain a hugely helpful over shield & health bump.

Healing Pulse & Barricades: User the barricades! Sometimes it will be for protection, but 90% of the time for me it was for the health. The Taken Invigoration mod says "defeating a challenging Taken enemy refreshes your class ability". There's plenty of those. If you don't have the mod, high resilience can have a new barrier ready less than every 20s, 14s at max.

Punchy punchy - "Rallying Force", melee kills restore health. Any melee kill. Psions can be easy pickings, but a full health Psion will take two punches. For most situations you'll want to weaken them with a blinding grenade, or some bullets, then go in for a single-punch-kill. You'll also get an over shield if the melee charge is full.

Aggro Knights - Their fire breathing is bad enough, but I'm sure you've noticed that the knights can often go absolutely nuts and run at you relentlessly while blasting you up the butt. Just keep running and don't look back until you round a corner, turn quickly and drop a barricade to stop them. Or jump, turn and blinding grenade them which will also stop them.

Slippery Psions - Don't underestimate them. These f*ckers can turn up their mobility up to a gazillion or something. If going in for a punch, over compensate for the lunge distance to get in a bit closer then you normally would, else you will whiff, a lot.

Super - If you have to use it. Use it! There's no point dying with a super. Just make sure to take advantage and regain control of the room. If you do this successfully, every encounter offers a stage where you can comfortably get the super back before proceeding. I always used bubble, as it was generally my last resort to stay alive.

Encounters: A brief note on each encouner

DPS: I would maximise this by throwing a void wall grenade for Oppressive Darkness, doing some damage, then dropping bubble, doing damage, throwing the free grenade granted from dropping a bubble, then seeing the rest of the damage phase through.

Phalanx Boss - Use the blinding grenades. Use the barricades to heal, and halt the aggro knights. Use Monte Carlo for regular over shields from punching psions. Get comfortable with how swords can "pull" you back in if the boss blasts you away. Unless you're extremely lucky, this will be a 2-phase.

Wastelands - This is easy, use whatever you like!

Hexahedron - For this Dungeon, I was expecting the Hexahedron to be Prophecy's equivalent of the Vorgeth or Chamber of Sorrows encounters (which were both considered the hardest parts of their respective dungeons). But, it was straightforward and caused no issues, just be patient.

Every room has a safe spot from the snipers, do not kill them yet. Focus on clearing all other ads from that safe spot, you shouldn't have to move much, the blinding grenades are amazing here, as they are everywhere. use Xeno to one-shot each sniper, reload as the knights spawn in, then chonk them to death in quick succession. When ads spawn in, shoot blinding grenades, throw grenades, clear them all out or enough to let you grab motes and dunk. Drop a barricade as soon as you've dunked for the health boost, snipers will get a couple of shots off before they despawn.

I then cleared out ads, used grenade kills to get heavy ammo if needed, and waited for my super, before stepping onto the middle for another round.

This room is hell when the ads go unchecked, don't worry about motes. Kill knights if you have to, but forget about the motes unless you have safe control of the room. There's no rush.

Ribbon Road - This should be straightforward. At the start, left or right ribbon to bypass one of the structures. Have a scout rifle, ideally with explosive rounds for extra damage at range. Sword & Lion Rampants are good to have.

Kell Echo - I tried sword for boss damage, a lot. Don't. Just don't! The boss teleport beam is unpredictable and it's an added level risk that's not worth it for a flawless attempt. And, I underestimated just how much damage Anarchy can do.

In the rooms, I used bubble quite freely if needed to secure a corner. Blinding grenades work on the ogres too., Blind-anarchy-anarchy-blind, this will safely take the ogres down.

In the boss section, most of my damage was at the start, and end. For the rest my focus was taking out snipers, which I'd do with the blinding grenades. Either killed with a direct hit, or weakened for me to punch and get health back. Remember, use a barricade to boost health if needed. The last 2 snipers can be blinded as you push ahead, and then safely killed before you turn to DPS the boss for his last 2 spots.

    *******

Feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer. I can't say enough how helpful the blinding grenades were to the success of my run.

For anyone else out there giving his a go... good luck!

Menagerie gives the updated version of the Last Dance sidearm, and the Bad Omens rocket launcher. The sidearm in particular is solid, and easier to farm rolls for than last hope.

So yeah, a reason to run menagerie.

To all the aspiring Shadows that like me just have the stupid sparrow left to get for the title, you finally have purpose in this knowledge.
