Focused Feedback: Season Pass Model vs DLC Model

    Posted: 26 Oct 2020 09:36 AM PDT

    Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Season Pass Model vs DLC Model' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

Can Novawarp get buffed? It did not deserved to be killed off like that

    Posted: 26 Oct 2020 06:47 AM PDT

Seriously this is so frustrating. Look how Bungie has handled the other classes OP trees. Bottom Striker is good and usable. Spectral Blades is still amazing and some even say It's OP. Warlocks thought? Bungie killed our subclass. Not once but twice. Handheld nova needed to be touched upon but not to the extend it was handled. Not to mention our shitty melee and the fact that we are getting another super focused exotic when bottom tree Dawn should be reworked. It's so frustrating to be a Warlock main. It feels like Bungie at this point does not care about the class at all.

Bungie, can we become Lord Shaxx's new Redjacks?

    Posted: 26 Oct 2020 08:05 AM PDT

We've had some nice horde modes come and go. Eventually, they all went away or fell behind. What if we could have one that became a mainstream activity, a new 'ritual' alongside strikes, crucible and gambit so that it was continually updated? What if we became Lord Shaxx's new Redjacks? Been posting this idea in comments for a year or two now, and folks seem to like it. Figured I'd make a thread and see if it has more appeal, maybe some Bungie attention.

Skippable Background fluff: Shaxx had teams of Redjacks, agents would would go to areas and clear them so that they could be used for Crucible matches. This involved claiming new territory and clearing out existing arenas. Combat frames like Arcite 99-40 are only the current Redjacks. Shaxx used to have Guardian teams, but after events like the Great Disaster really hurt the Guardian population, Zavala pulled Shaxx's teams for field duty. Shaxx has been using the frames ever since. It's tough! One of Drifter's pre-match lines goes: "It takes a hundred of Shaxx's frames to bring down a Hive Knight. Why does he keep building them?" Shaxx seems to want a return to the old days. If some of you go on a 5-killstreak, you may hear him say "I need a Hunter like you with the Redjacks!"

Let's throw Shaxx a bone, shall we?? After all, sweet Queen Mara is gone. This will help him deal with it.

Zavala: It's crucial that we keep field operations running at peak capacity. At the same time, we cannot neglect the Crucible, where we train. Shaxx and myself haven't always seen eye to eye when it came to his Redjacks, and their makeup. It's time for that to change. Report to Lord Shaxx, inform him that you're ready to form a new team of Redjacks for him, if he'll have you. Something tells me that he will. Thank you, Guardian.

    How it can work

We get to be Redjacks and do waves of horde mode on PvP maps. How many waves? Some say the three encounters from Prison of Elders wasn't enough. Let's set a 'wave' as being like one from Gambit for example. Drifter sends you to The Ruins on Emerald Cove, and there might be 15-20 enemies there. With that standard, can we say that players should sit down and play a minimum of 5-10 waves? They could easily end up doing more in a standard Gambit match(not necessarily Prime). These waves will escalate in difficulty, however. They could basically start off as Trostland Fallen with a couple Captains & a Servitor, move up to Gambit Prime-style 'elites and above,' to lots of yellow-bar majors like Escalation Protocol. The boss for each wave will also rise in difficulty, so by the end you're dealing with a strike boss with NF-tier health(they drop some decent loot on their own).

This can happen on any available Crucible map, or really, the ones Bungie decides fit the mode best. Something like Bannerfall ought to be a natural fit, since we've done PvE there before. Treat each map like a strike, and give it an emblem that can show your high scores and wave clears.

When a new map is due to be released, it comes two weeks early for the Redjacks so that 'canonically' they can clear it and make sure it's ready for Crucible matches on release day. Participants will get a special emblem variant. PvP players might have an interest in playing this mode to learn maps, test map movement theory and firing angles against opponents while getting some rewards too. If not, they ought to be interested in this early map access, so that they can get some extra familiarity before release.

    Rewards

Arcite 99-40 is the vendor, and has bounties, weapons & armor for purchase and any associated quests. You earn Crucible Valor, not Glory, and tokens for your completions.

The big key for rewards is to get your wave completions done. To track completions, Arcite 99-40 gives you a daily or weekly ticket. Similar to a Trials passage or Challenge of Elders scorecard. You can cash in your waves at the end of each day. You'll also keep working toward a bigger weekly total. Daily tickets will get you some legendary engrams, maybe high wave totals get upgrade modules and enhancement cores. Weekly tickets are the big score. You're guaranteed some higher stat legendary armor, maybe an exotic, and some prizms or even shards if you hit very high wave totals. What's nice is, you can play this your own way based on when you have time. For example, if you miss out during the week and you're mainly a weekend warrior, you could still grind out some weekend play with Fri-Sun tickets plus the Weekly and still do very nicely for yourself.

What's in the loot? To speed up the preparation of this activity a bit(and for a bit of nostalgia), repaints of popular D1 gear. Not only do we just miss the look of some of this stuff, but getting to skip a phase where D1 artists have to create all-new armor will help move things along. They can make some all-new stuff later, but the first batch can be stuff that we already liked anyway. What if we got the 'best looking weapon in Destiny,' the Stalker BNGL rare scout rifle, to return as a legendary? Just an example.

    Extras

How does our mighty megaphone Shaxx handle this? He likes it. Shaxx relaxes a bit and tells old war stories. If you kill a Hive Knight: "I killed a Knight that way on the Moon before. A dozen more Knights saw that, and ran back to the Hellmouth! HAHA!!" Don't worry, go on some killmonger-style streaks, and Shaxx will turn back into our cheerleader.

On Iron Banner week, maybe Saladin shows up. He tells little Iron Lord stories, and gets enthusiastic for you as well. A bonus would be Efrideet, but I don't know if Bungie is ready for her to appear in D2 yet.

It probably wouldn't take much to include some bonus weeks of activity, similar to the double Ordeal drops. There could be increased drops from your tickets.

Perhaps Mayhem week in the Crucible could carry over to the Redjacks Missions...

    Ending

So how does a new, relatively permanent horde mode sound? This is the kind of thing that can come sometime after Beyond Light, likely after the following expansion really. On arrival though, it would provide a nice stable horde mode that isn't going anywhere.

I really hope this isn’t the end of the Black Armory!

    Posted: 26 Oct 2020 03:04 PM PDT

I get that Bungie has their reasons for shelving the Forges, Niobe, etc., but I hope that we'll still be seeing more from the Black Armory in the future. The weapon designs are super cool, and it would be a shame if we didn't get any more weapons from Ada, even if they're from content that has nothing to do with her. The lore of the Black Armory is one of my favorite stories in the series, and even though it's mostly tied up, I don't want Ada to go away. Perhaps the Black Armory could join Suros, Hakke, Omolon, and Veist as a main weapon manufacturer?

I don't want the legacy of the Black Armory to end just because the expansion is going away. Let's see more from Ada and her arsenal in the future!

I took a mixture of Lunal and Immortalia and this happened. Pardon the mauled joystick, stuff makes you act a bit weird. Ignore the blue light. It turns on but half of the buttons don't even work lol.

Super happy with how this turned out, this entire project tested the limits of my cutting machine and gave good practice for my weeding skills. If you look close you'll see some imperfections in the lines of the daito logo, would probably have to make it larger next time I do this. A bunch of improvement can be done, but overall I'm really happy with how this turned out.

    Hope you enjoy it!

It's the end of the world in Destiny 2... and we're bored

    Posted: 26 Oct 2020 12:36 PM PDT

The Darkness has arrived, Savathun is interfering, planets are ordered to evacuate, and the guardians are... chilling?

This short little video has been a project of my friends and I for a few weeks! We were inspired by all the crazy stuff we've resorted to doing in Season of the Arrivals, due in large part to the unfortunate Beyond Light delay. As much as it was a bummer for those of us looking forward to the next DLC, it did have the side effect of forcing us all to scramble for new ways to have fun and keep ourselves busy in the seasonal downtime.

As such, we made this little video as tribute to all the fireteams out there who are making their own fun amidst the backdrop of the apocalypse! We hope everybody enjoys, and we'll see you all in Beyond Light!

[DARKNESS ELEMENT CONCEPT] An in depth look into the dark element, Decay, and the three subclasses: Plaguebearer, Soulstealer, & Corrupter that each embody a different part of Decay.

    Posted: 26 Oct 2020 09:37 AM PDT

    What is Decay?

Decay is the poison/disease element. It is supposed to be the alternative to Solar. My goal in creating the new element, Decay, is to add more Darkness elements to try to balance out the current roster. Since the next expansion is The Witch Queen, I thought that the next element should be a green, poison based element that would be similar to the Hive without directly being Hive magic.

Since there is already a DoT subclass, Solar, I had to find a way to make it different, so that it added something new to the game rather than just reskinning Solar. I decided on making the damage start weak and ramp up to be stronger than Solar like how when a poison/disease first enters an organism, the organism does not immediately notice they are poisoned/infected until it is too late and the poison/disease has already done irreversible damage.

    Decay Grenades

Each grenade was picked to fit each of the classes. A mine/trap grenade for Hunters, a sticky grenade for Titans, and an AoE grenade for Warlocks.

    Intro to the Subclasses

With Stasis, Bungie showed that a new element should have three parts to it that each subclass could exemplify. I continued this idea and gave Decay three parts to it: Spread, Corrupt, Steal. Each part symbolized the stages of disease: spread, infection, & death.

    • The Warlock subclass, Plaguebearer, can be summarized as, "Plague Doctor," and is all about the spread of Decay.
    • The Titan subclass, Corrupter, can be summarized as, "Patient Zero," and is all about worsening the corruption on enemies.
    • The Hunter subclass, Soulstealer, can be summarized as, "The Grim Reaper," and is about empowering the Hunter after collecting the enemies souls after they die while corrupted, similarly to Thorn.

With these parts, I wanted to try something, that to my knowledge, hasn't been done before: Intrinsic Subclass Perks. At first this just sounds like normal subclass perks, but hear me out. Intrinsic subclass perks are perks that are always active when using a subclass no matter what aspect, fragment, or exotic you are running. Each Decay subclass will only get a single intrinsic perk, but these perks are what make the subclasses exemplify their parts of Decay.

    • The Warlock perk makes corrupted enemies spread corruption to nearby enemies when they die.
    • The Titan perk allows the Titan to apply multiple stacks of corruption rather than just one.
    • The Hunter perk spawns souls on the bodies of enemies that die while corrupted and collecting these souls boosts movement speed and heals the Hunter.

    Warlock Subclass: Plaguebearer

Plaguebearer embodies the concept of "spreading."

Super: Plague Censer: Forge a corrupted censer and spread disease among your enemies.

    • [Attack]: Press [Light Attack] to swing the Plague Censer. Rapidly swinging the Plague Censer results in an infinite right/left chain (similar to Spectral Blades) which applies corruption on impact.
    • [Block]: Hold [Block] to spin the Plague Censer. While spun up, a cloud of Decay gas forms around the player.
      • Press [Light Attack] while spinning the Plague Censer to jump and slam it onto the ground, which deals massive damage and creates a large wave of Decay gas that corrupts all caught in its radius.
      • Press [Heavy Attack] while spinning the Plague Censer to throw it, which explodes into a corrupting cloud of Decay gas on impact.

Melee: Censer Slam: Summon and slam the Plague Censer onto the ground to create a small wave of Decay gas that deals knockback damage and corrupts all caught in its radius.

Intrinsic: Eliminating corrupted enemies releases a wave of Decay gas that corrupts all caught in its radius.

    Hunter Subclass: Soulstealer

Soulstealer embodies the concept of "stealing."

Super: Soul Scythe: Form a corrupted scythe and unseam your enemies from their souls.

    • [Light Attack]: Press [Light Attack] to swing the Soul Scythe. It can be swung in a three attack combo (similar to Arc Staff) that ends with a spin attack that creates a cloud of Decay gas. Hits apply corruption.
    • [Heavy Attack]: Hold [Heavy Attack] to charge up an over the head, delayed slam that applies corruption, deals precision damage, and deals massive impact damage, but very little splash damage.

Melee: Chain Knife: Throw a corrupted knife and pull enemies towards you on contact.

Intrinsic: Eliminating corrupted enemies creates a soul that when collected: heals and boosts movement speed.

    Titan Subclass: Corrupter

Corrupter embodies the concept of "corrupting."

Super: Infected Fury: Unleash a rapid, concentrated barrage of corrupted, bladed fists upon your foes.

    • [Super Activation]: When Infected Fury is activated, you are slowed down considerably (but not completely to avoid frustration in case your target moves) and you are immune to knockback effects. Then you bring up your fists, each with blades protruding from them, and start rapidly punching in front of you with each punch applying corruption.
    • Damage would be a little bit less than Celestial Nighthawk since you have to get close to your target, but you don't deal precision damage.
    • Press [Super Activation] while active to deactivate Infected Fury and save Super energy.

Melee: Infectious Jabs: Strike your opponent with two quick punches that apply corruption.

Intrinsic: Corruption can stack up to three times with each subsequent stack extending the timer.

If you made it this far, thank you so much for reading it all, sorry of the long post. Please let me know your thoughts on this concept.

Exo Stranger "Where our paths cross, ground could... break"

    Posted: 26 Oct 2020 03:55 PM PDT

Rewatched some old D1 videos and came across this line from her

I felt like it was interesting that we are meeting her again on Europa (shattering ice) where we will most likely uncover the Deep Stone Crypt (also this trailer with the No Time to Explain gun) and find out what lies beneath the ice

Sometimes the story feels Kingdom Hearts level confusing where any moment can be turned into a deeply significant plot point...but I do think it would be clever if they loop it back to that moment somehow.

    • Who was the Exo Stranger talking to in that video? Who could her faction be?
    • Is that Exo Stranger from the future and she is simply remembering our meeting on Europa?

The line could end up being a coincidence but I liked the idea because it would allow her to be a fresh character for everyone, veteran and New Light alike. She wouldn't remember us on Europa but as vets we'd know she was always there watching and manipulating things behind the scene, hoping we'd be ready for whatever is happening on Europa.
