Operation Oboe is a clear indicator of what a badass Zavala actually is

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 07:24 AM PDT

"No one gets left behind, Piccolo. No one. I'll break those Fallen myself"

He says this after we complete the Exodus Crash strike when he thinks we are MIA.

I'm not sure on the specifics of operation Oboe, but I like to think it comes down to something similar to Zavala purging the Arcadian Valley of pretty much any and all Fallen.

Some people may thing think he is a bit of a lackluster leader at times, but no matter what happens in Beyond Light or further down the line, I'm with him.

Edit: wow, didn't expect so many responses. Thanks for the awards, Guardians!

    The Dark Timeline

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 08:47 AM PDT

    Year 1:

Nolanbot is killed by a Dreg while passing through the Cosmodrome, looking for his Guardian. His shell somehow ends up in the Tangled Shore, through a series of events we don't have time to explain.

Guardian numbers begin to dwindle thanks to the Fallen gaining increased strength. The cause of this strength is believed to be a giant Servitor under the command of the House of Devils. Strike teams are sent to eliminate it, but none are successful. The Cosmodrome is entirely quarantined by Zavala.

The House of Winter reclaim an Archon Priest from the prison of Elders, and the strength of House Winter rises dramatically under his command. Where there was retreat from the Vex, now there is assault, and its working.

The Cabal detachment on Mars engage the Vex successfully, pushing them back to a strange gate. The Vex vanish all at once, leaving Mars completely under Cabal control. The Psion Flayers take full control of the Martian warsats still in orbit.

A similar gate on Luna awakens, and Vex empowered by pure darkness swarm out of it and awaken the Hive. Eris Morn attempts to flee, but is killed by a Hive Wizard and a Minotaur turning attentions away from their own battle to her. Ikora does not discover her fate, and she is left to rot under Lunas dust.

Rasputin finally runs out of reserve power on Earth and he goes from sleep to death. His passing is not noticed by the vanguard.

Crota awakens and joins the battle against the Vex on Luna. Omnigul informs Oryx of the situation. Crota does exceedingly well, but is locked in a stalemate with a Minotaur designed to fight him, constantly reborn by another Vex Mind.

Skolas is released, and joins with the House of Winter to rebuild his house. After a successful assault on the Vault of Glass, the house of Wolves is fully rebuilt and Venus is completely dominated by the Fallen. Zavala is killed attempting to stop this from taking place, taking Skolas and much of the house of wolves with him. However, the sheer number of wolves now alive means his sacrifice was unfortunately in vain, but at least Skolas is killed

The Awoken in the Reef are finally obliterated by the remaining Wolves and the House of Winter. Spider becomes the owner of the Reef and resides in a palace in the Dreaming City, offering technology and aid to all Fallen who come to him with gifts, and granting wishes by some unknown means.

Guardian numbers drop to 7000 from 25,000 in a single year.

    Year 2:

Oryx arrives in the system and claims Titan and Io with no or very little resistance, taking anything that would oppose him. His attention turns to Mars, but he ignores the Reef.

Caydes ship is seriously damaged in a daring attempt to storm the Dreadnaught, and he is thought dead.

Ikora gathers the remaining Guardians with the permission of the Speaker and assaults the Cosmodrome in full force to gain control of the area. The assault is successful and the Devils are annihilated, and a second City is founded with the main focus on collecting as many dead bodies as possible to make the recruitment of new Guardians easier. The Exo Stranger is found in Rasputins bunker looking for old technology and is recruited by Ikora as a member of the Hidden.

The Cabal on Phobos are all Taken. Oryx arrives in full force over Mars and a bitter war begins between the two races. Valus Taurac is finally killed by the Darkblade, who is seeking to prove himself to Oryx once again and be freed. Instead, Oryx takes the Darkblade and makes him torture himself for the rest of time.

The Hive on Luna are losing to the Vex, who seem to be able to predict the Hives every move. Oryx sends his Daughters to assist his son, and the war continues, freshly balanced.

Oryx arrives on Luna, leaving the conquest of Mars to his forces. He breaks through the Vex like paper and enters the Black Garden, and eats the Heart at its center. The Vex in the Black Garden and Luna fall silent and turn instead to worship Oryx. He shows his appreciation by taking them. Oryx receives a massive burst of power from the Heart, but when the burst wears off he is at half his usual strength, and falling.

Shaxx stops the Crucible, now considering the Crucible to be the world Guardians live in.

    Year 3:

Guardian numbers have fallen to only 3000, despite all efforts. The enemy is simply too numerous and powerful, every day sees dozens of losses.

Shiro and Saladin are killed in an attempt to assault the House of Wolves and Winter, but they take the Archon Priest with them.

Taken appear in the Tower. Rahool and Amanda are killed in the initial assault. Banshee is killed heroically trying to save a group of children. Ikora and Shaxx manage to stave off the invasion, but the Tower is seriously damaged. Taken invasions occur daily, Shaxx and Arcite remain behind as a diversion while the City evacuates.

The Exo Stranger and Ana head to a hidden facility on Mars and discovers Rasputins main core, still functioning. He reveals his plan to them and provides them with most of the technology to achieve it, however they still require a crucial part from a Vex Mind. They head to Mercury, Ana is killed but the Exo Stranger is successful, and she leaves to complete Rasputins machine.

The Cabal on Mars are finally killed off or Taken by Oryx. Rasputin transfers his consciousness into an Exo body and flees in a ship bound for a small body named Nessus, and discovers the still alive Cayde, drifting in space. They begin to plan together.

The Dreadnaught arrives at Earth. Oryx, now severely weakened after eating the Heart, plunges his Sword into the Dreadnaught and most of the Earth is destroyed, leaving a crater the size of the mars in its surface. The earth loses its atmosphere and becomes a wasteland, all life dies. The Traveler is destroyed, and all Guardians lose their connection to the Light. Ikora is killed aboard the Dreadnaught when her light is lost.

Venus is assaulted by the Hive, and the Fallen flee the planet, arriving on Europa. There they discover Stasis, and the war erupts again between the Hive and the Fallen.

A Stasis infused Fallen fireteam led by Mithrax kills Crota, Omnigul, the Court and finally Oryx, but Mithrax himself is killed in the final battle. He is buried with a small shard of the Traveler, the highest Honour a Fallen can receive.

Rasputin and Cayde bring the Exo Stranger to Nessus. The Exo Stranger vanishes.

    Year 4:

The Red Legion arrive to claim the Traveler, only to find it destroyed. The Almighty begins to eat Mercury only to be stopped by Osiris, who stops the Almighty from functioning but cannot escape, dying in his attempt to save the system. The sun however is dimmed significantly, and the system enters a permanent state of gloom. The Leviathan follows shortly afterwards, and the Red Legion engage Calus but are ultimately unsuccessful.

Cayde and Rasputin are offered positions as Calus' Shadows, and after lengthy thought they agree, the Solar System lost.

Savathun arrives in the System and heads for the Reef. Using Quria, Riven is Taken and the Spider and his Fallen are placed in a never ending 3 week cycle of torture.

Stasis infused Fallen and Savathuns forces battle on each planet and moon in the system, but without Mithrax victory is hard won for the Fallen. Savathun is slowly gaining the upper hand thanks to Riven.

    Year 5:

18 guardians remain, hiding and frightened. Asher Mir uses the Pyramidion to vanish to a whole other part of space, two others follow him.

The Exo Stranger returns to Nessus, her mission unsuccessful. Failsafe advises her of her failings, and using the SIVA aboard the Exodus Black they create a device capable of communicating through time. The Exo Stranger vanishes again. The SIVA released begins to transform Nessus.

A Fallen scavenger team discover a pile of Ghosts in the Tangled Shore. One is somehow alive.

    Year 1A:

The Exo Stranger silently kills a dreg in the Cosmodrome, leaving a Ghost to continue its searching.

So, with the last time Savathun's Song is on the nightfall, lets talk about that fireteam of 9

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 03:38 PM PDT

Its been at the but of many jokes that a fireteam of 9 wiped in a strike for this mission, but a lot of people are missing a key detail:

We aren't fighting the same amount of hive as them. Were fighting the hive that survived that fight. Its very likely that the original 9 guardians faced far more than anything we saw.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

Niobe Labs was one of the most challenging pieces of content Bungie has created.

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 06:06 PM PDT

It felt so great to conqueror it final before the content enters the DCV. Probably one of my favorite challenges Destiny has. Everyone should try it before it leaves. With the changes coming to Ghosts, the Ghost reward could be a really cool thing to show off as it looks sweet and can finally be on par with other Ghosts. Very rare Emblem too which thanks to the new Tracker system can show off other things you are proud of too!

For those who need help completing it:

Datto has a great guide on how to do it.

Here is an infographic useful to have up on another screen or smart phone.

I know Sweaty0rNot does help with it on Twitch on Mondays but soon twice a week. Follow him on Twitter for when he goes live about it. It is his favorite.

Could we have a strike that separates our fire team temporarily?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 09:34 PM PDT

I'd love to see a strike play out where the fireteam has to split up temporally in order to complete a main objective and be reunited just before the boss fight

Warlock Exotic Idea For a Rift Replacment

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 05:53 PM PDT

Grasp of the Deep: Warlock Gauntlet Exotic

Reach into the deep, pull yourself within...

Exotic effect: Replaces the Rift ability with a hive portal. Cast rift to spawn a hive portal in front of you with an exit destination in the direction you are looking. Hold [Rift button] and release to control the distance away the portal spawns.

This idea is to go along with the other exotics that change the way class abilities work. I figured that spawning a portal to help with team mobility would be in line with the rift naturally being able to help with team survivability and team damage output. The portals would be two way, lasting as long as a rift normally would with the same recharge speed. Max portal distance is something I dont really know how to determine, but longer then a couple of blinks probably. Make it too short and its worthless.

Thank You | A 20+ Minute Tribute to One of Bungie's Community Managers

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 08:37 AM PDT

Throughout Bungie's lifetime, there have been multiple figures celebrating their last week at the company. After nine years of excellence, and working on titles from both the Halo and Destiny franchise, David Dague is leaving Bungie on November 6th, 2020.

Whether you have been following him during the Halo days or discovered him during a LIVE reveal for one of Destiny's upcoming releases, you can agree that he always made every attempt to light up the room - his enthusiasm, his theatrics, and his respect for everyone always brought the best out of everybody.

While this is not technically a goodbye, Bungie will now have a large hole where he once was. Cozmo and DMG will take up the mantle as the two remaining Community Managers. I have no doubt that they will make him proud.

As a tribute to the man himself, I've compiled a short tribute of his adventures with Destiny up until now. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did putting it together.

Beyind Light map and greek Mythologie

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 08:12 AM PDT

Like most people I'm in a hype state and can't wait to finally explore Europa with my warlock and learn the story around Stasis, Eramis and Clovis Bray.

However, the names of the places on the already shown map caught my eye. To be more precise Charon's Crossing. Charon, Charon, Charon, there was something, somehow the name seems so familiar to me.

Sure, Charon, the ferryman of the dead in Greek mythology. I couldn't help noticing that Charon's Crossing on the map is a bottleneck to the beyond. Almost as if Bungie was trying to say something?Spurred on by this, admittedly very obvious detail, I looked at the names of the other places on the map and came across more figures from Greek mythology. The world of Destiny has often been influenced by different mythologies.

So I just present you here my research results and my thoughts about it and I am curious about your thoughts and ideas about it.

    TL;DR at the bottom!

Edit: added some Ideas from u/TheKingmaker__ Comment!

    Eventide Ruins

Bungie refers to it as the abandoned Clovis Bray colony. So I guess you can assume that it was once the Eventide colony. For everyone who, like me, is not an English native speaker, the word Eventide is strange. What is eventide? Eventide is an upscale, poetic word for the evening. You could have thought of it.

In Nordic mythology there is Ragnarök, the twilight of the gods. You could somehow associate that with Eventide. But in Greek mythology, there is no such thing, only Astraeus, the god of dusk. Married to Eos, goddess of the dawn and father of the 4 wind gods, Boreas, Euros, Zephys and Notos. Admittedly this is rather far-fetched and somehow inappropriate.

So I thought about how the name could fit into the world anyway. And I did not have to think that far. Clovis Bray and the Exo-Project, the evening of biological humanity and the dawn as Exo. That fits better to the information Bungie gave us. Hopefully we will know more when Beyond Light goes live.

    Cadmus Ridge

Finding something about Cadmus was much, much easier. Cadmus was the king of Thebes, son of Telephassa and the Phoenician king Agenor. And brother of Europa! The whole story about Cadmus is somehow exciting, but too much for that. I am only referring to a certain part, to his death.

His wife Harmonia and he were turned into snakes by Zeus and were taken up in the Elysium. To understand, Elysium is a part of the underworld where the souls of the dead exist in eternal bliss. But why do I refer to that part of his life?

Bungie describes Cadmus Ridge as the last known location of the Bray Exoscience facility. The place where people were transformed into exos by "God" Clovis Bray and then live a life as an exo in eternal bliss. Now does that sound familiar?

    u/TheKingmaker__:

Cadmus is Europa's brother. He's much more than that, but this is the connection that fits best for my theories so I'll ignore all the others because that's how lore works, right :P

We have two tragic father/son pairings - Minos/Asterion II and Daedalus/Icarus. Clovis Brays (Snr and Jnr) fit both of these - Snr is a tyrannical king and a genius inventor, and we know from the new lore that Jnr died because of an oversight on Snr's part, but some part of him is stored/yet remains, which may mean>! he is brought back as a twisted abomination through some fault in Bray's methods !<- becoming the "Minotaur" we must slay.

Snr could well stay as f*cking awful as he is in his diary, but I could see him becoming a typical Greek tragic figure - through his dealings with Destiny's Dark Devil he got what he wanted - immortality through being an Exo - and now is trapped within a Labyrinth of his own creation (DSC), forced to live for eternity in regret/grief of what he has done.

I'd like this, but as portrayed in the diary, Snr is completely repugnant and seems incapable of regret or grief or accepting his wrongdoing. But maybe that changed over a few hundred years

    Asterion Abyss

To Asterion) you can find 2 different persons.

First is Asterion, King of Crete and, surprise, a husband from Europa (after Zeus). This is already the second person with connection to the goddess Europa. What a coincidence.

The Second Asterion is the Minotaur from the Labyrinth, the son of Pasiphae, wife of Minos, son of Europa and Zeus.

Now how do you bring a dangerous Minotaur in a labyrinth where 7 men and women are sacrificed every 9 years in connection with a Vex structure hidden in the ice?
Possibly a spoiler? I suspect, obviously, a vex dungeon with a minotaur as boss? And I look forward to it if it is true.

    u/TheKingmaker__:

(PSSSST - In the first encounter of Shattered Throne the minibosses are called "Labyrinth Architects", the Taken Captain boss before the open room with Knights/Hobgoblins is "Asterion, Set Apart" and Sjur describes her death as being "trapped in a maze". This makes our third lore labyrinth alongside this and the Forerunner seal/Darkness art)

...Theseus (son of Poseidon) is slipped in and he kills the Minotaur with help from Ariadne and Daedalus, you know this bit.

    Charon`s Crossing

Well, I already said something about that at the beginning. That the name symbolizes the transition from life/light to the realm of the dead/darkness is more than obvious. Maybe Variks will be our ferryman?

Therefore I use this to share some interesting details. Because during my research around Charon and the underworld other names caught my eye. But for that I have to go further.Who doesn't want to know this can go straight on to Beyond.

In the greek mythology there were 5 gods that first emerged from the chaos. These were Erebus, Gaia, Tartarus, Eros and Nyx.Erebus is the god of darkness.Gaia is the personified earth.Tartatus is a personified part of the underworld, the counterpart of Elysium. Tartarus is the deepest part of the underworld and is home to the souls of the wicked.Eros is the God of love, lust and sex.Nyx is the primordial goddess of the night.

Gaia is the mother of the giants and therefore also the mother of the giant Enceladus).Nyx has produced many children, including Eris, the Goddess of strife and discord), and together with Erebos, Charon, the ferryman of the dead.

Also worth mentioning are perhaps Thanatos, god of gentle death and Keres, goddess of violent death. I don't know if these names might become relevant anymore, but I just found it interesting and somehow fitting.

Around the underworld, maybe Cerberus is also worth mentioning. Cerberus is a three-headed dog that guards the entrance so that no dead person leaves the underworld and no living person enters it.

    u/TheKingmaker__:

Two of the rivers of the Underworld are the Styx and the Lethe.

Styx makes you invulnerable, it's the one Achilles was dipped in

Lethe makes you forget - it wipes your memories

Becoming an Exo makes you invulnerable and wipes your memories, so is analagous to going through/over/into the Styx and Lethe, for which Charon would be your ferryman. Charon's crossing is likely where something integral in Exo conversion occured.

Also Charon's Crossing seems to be the way for us to enter Beyond - where the Pyramid is. If it's the place from the trailers with wide, flat ice-sheets and red glow beneath them, then Hell has literally frozen over.

    Beyond

According to Bungie, this is the place where an old friend awaits us.Referring to Greek mythology, it is fitting to put the afterlife behind Charon`s Crossing.

However, there is another connection that I did not mention before. The souls of the deceased come in Greek mythology before the three judges Minos, Rhadamanthus and Aeacus. These are the children of Zeus and Europa, later adopted by the king of Crete, Asterion. Minos stepson is the Minotaur Asterion in the labyrinth. An interesting combination of places and names.

Some interesting things about the goddess Europa, mentioned by u/TheKingmaker__:

The gifts Zeus gave her [Europa] were: A Javelin that never misses, A dog that always catches it's prey and a Bronze Automata named Talos with a single vein of ichor-blood. The dog probably won't make it in but I could see us accessing Rasputin's Javelin on Europa, and perhaps one of the Insurrection-Minis is called "TAL-05" in reference to Talos - but obviously the best fit for him would be a giant vex. Perhaps the Leggy-Vex are "Talos".

    TL;DR

I wonder if Europa as a whole should represent the underworld of Greek mythology. The afterlife as such is present. From there we will go over the Charon's Crossing into the underworld. On one side is the abyss of Tartarus, where a minotaur waits for us in a labyrinth and up the ridge with the entrance to the Elysium of Clovis Bray. And on the other side a barren meadow of joylessness where the colonists once lived.

EDIT: some typo and Format changes.

Breaking down a few shots from the trailer I think we can draw a conclusion about Eramis and her new power

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 09:15 AM PDT

I posted this on r/destinylore and thought I would bring it here too to reach a bigger audience

There are two options of what is going on here. Probably a mix of both. In the beginning of the trailer Eramis says the line "we have become pawns of our own devices, no longer" it is almost certain that she is referring to servitors since they depend on them obviously for life.

    Picture proof http://imgur.com/gallery/PYtI5KO

Picture 1: From the beginning of the trailer there is a servitor behind Eramis and no debris on the ground right before she says the line mentioned earlier.

Picture 2: The pic is from later in the trailer (time stamp is marked in caption) where there is no longer a servitor behind Eramis and instead debris of what seems to be a dead servitor on the ground.

Picture 3: The fallen seem kind of shocked in the scene which could easily be when Eramis kills the servitor.

    So the two possibilites.

    1. Eramis is done relying on the servitors and decides to betray/kill them off in anger.

    2. Obtaining the power of stasis and the darkness has allowed the fallen to no longer need ether to survive and thus having no need for servitors.

In reality its probably a mix of these two since I don't think Eramis would start killing servitors if they still needed ether to survive.

Also, we have seen servitors still fighting along side the fallen in other trailers. I'm thinking that Eramis can't kill off all of the servitors yet since she has yet to bestow stasis on all of her forces meaning they would still need ether.

Some vector art i made from the Symbol of the Traveller and the Tower tree

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 03:26 PM PDT

Hi, i'm the 1000 concept art guy.

So i've vectorized the famous symbol usually surrounding the traveller since i've never seen a clear picture of it before, and i follower that by recreating the picture behind the grimoire anthologies (this one). I also did a Nine theme thingy with the same process.

Anyway here are the full art thre, along with the traveller symbol: https://imgur.com/a/yViSVuo

If you are interested, here are the non compressed images, and the vector art in svg i made in order to make the final pictures: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1osvBPa3IHDSL7c0rv_WSKU_VgkzsHw-J?usp=sharing

Hope you appreciate what i've made and may be the vectorize symbols can be useful to anyone wanting to make similar stuff.

Helping in this game feels better than in other games

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 07:25 PM PDT

I don't know if this has been posted in this subreddit and if it has been, my apologies. Today I was trying to complete the whisper mission and I struggled with it for a long time since I was trying to solo it and was reluctant to do a lfg. I gave up trying to solo it and I put up an lfg post and a random person joined and my friend finally decided to help me. It was pretty easy with a fire team and I was relieved when I finally got the exotic I most likely won't use because of falling guillotine. The random with me and my friend told me that he also tried to solo the mission and consistently failed and was grateful for the help. It just feels good when you help someone get something they are desperate for something and you know their pain.

Some of us are just unlucky. I never got the kindled orchid roll I wanted.

Smallbore, accurized, kill clip, rapid hit, range mw. Can you imagine!?

To anyone who got the roll, I hope you've treated it with love.

Tonight was my final try. I blew through all of my modules and didn't get it. As someone who likes to play trials on the weekends and raids with my clanmates, I don't really find it worth trying to get anymore with the upcoming sunsetting.

I understand why sunsetting is happening, but I still can't help feel like it was a tad too much time wasted.

Being raid ready - character leveling order AFTER hitting the soft cap.

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 05:05 AM PDT

NOTE: this is leveling AFTER hitting the soft cap. So this question pertains to leveling by doing pinnacles and powerfuls.

This is the order that I'm thinking of doing powerfuls and pinnacles to have my Warlock be raid ready, and I'm wondering if this is the best approach:

    Week 1 (11/10 - 11/16)

    1. Start with Warlock (raid character)
    2. Titan
    3. End with Hunter (Highest leveled character for the week)

    Week 2 (11/17 - 11/20)

    1. Start with Hunter (highest leveled character from last week)
    2. Titan
    3. End with Warlock (highest level character)

In the past, we've been given a less than a week to be raid ready. So, you would save your raiding character for the end. Passing up weapons from your least played character to your raid character (we know the drill by now). But with this extra time, I don't think the way we've done it in the past would work.

    Is my thinking correct?

Forsaken's Trailer for the Israeli steam store is in Japanese

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 01:30 PM PDT

hey, I was looking at Forsaken's page because I noticed it was on sale and wanted to recommend it to a friend, and the trailer was in Japanese or Korean, although I don't like in Japan or Korea. I checked with some friends who live in America and their trailer is fine. is Bungie aware of this? is there any way I can make them aware of this?

sorry if this doesn't fit the sub, I just couldn't find a way to contact Bungie or someone about this

Two Guardian in survival who can't see each other

    Explain please: https://youtu.be/y8o054LN0vw

We were yelling all match because our third kept letting this Hunter walk away. Then this happened!

Edit: this guy joined our party afterwards. Very cool. Even though you clearly see him die in the video, he says he walked off the flag and let it be capped. You can even see his arc grenade thrown from the edge of the map after death.

    How can I do raids?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 09:55 PM PDT

Me and my buddy recently got into destiny 2, still base vanilla game. We have a little under 30 hours in the game, but wanted to try to do a raid. We quickly found that there no way for two people to do one though. Is there a matchmaking system or something where we can get with other players?

Edit: I'm on PC and in America is that matters

Don't let anxiety prevent you from having fun

    Posted: 25 Oct 2020 03:25 PM PDT

Today (or yesterday since it midnight monday now) i completed my first raid (scourge) after playing for ten months but let's not talk about the first one (it went pretty nice just one run and farewell) let's talk about the other 7 boss cp clear farm for anarchy i did with another fireteam and it was a blast! And my shyness prevented me from having this much fun for ten months. so we farmed the boss within two quick damage phases (80% and then 20%) in the first time it took for me and the two other snipers to destroy the Shields in five seconds (is that even impressive?) It was an amazing experience and i got anarchy as the last one and after i prayed to the rng god and asked for his blessings (literally) that when i finally got it and it was farewell, so much fun i just want to do levi until i get all the exotics from levi but i know it's much more complicated and harder.
