Breaking out of Stasis shouldn’t do damage to you. The crowd control is enough.

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 06:12 PM PST

Title. This is completely busted in Crucible considering how easy it is to freeze people with grenades. You shouldn't be punished for breaking out of an already death-guaranteeing CC.

Bungie have sunset 75.5% of total legendary weapons. Beyond Light legendary weaponry contributes 5.9% back towards this total.

If you haven't bought the DLC, please consider abstaining until the immense void in our weapon economy is addressed.

Beyond Light confirms what we already speculated to be true: sunsetting was about grind, not balancing.

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 03:44 PM PST

We were told sunsetting was supposed to exist so popular weapons and metas could retire. Well, autos and grenade launchers still seem pretty popular. Even with the sunsetting of Mountaintop, they still deemed it necessary to nerf it because sunsetting wasn't going to stop it.

And what about armor? Oh, boy. I can't wait to talk about armor. We were told certain armor sets would sunset, like Knight Errant. But what did I discover today? It's still in the game! But if I want that armor I gotta grind for it, again!

It was exactly what we were afraid it was gonna be. They want us to run on the grind treadmill when there's nothing worth chasing. It was a lie in order to keep us playing on their terms, plain and simple.

Getting a “Machine gun kills on Europa” when all of my MGs were sunset feels really, really bad

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 11:52 AM PST

    Bounty***

Yes, you could use exotics, but it's still kinda egregious that as a returning player I had 0 legendary machine guns immediately available to acquire to complete this quest. Having skipped out on a few seasons, this one point completely shifted my opinion on sunsetting into the negative.

Edit: Lot of comments saying "just use exotic" or "just use a sunset one" - there was one bounty that sent me for 2 rapid kills 10x in lost sectors, which sit at ~1200 Power. It's ridiculous that there is not an up-to-date MG that can be acquired outside of Europa.

Also, it seems a lot of people are defending their Seventh Seraph Saws; I wish I could still get one! Didn't grind enough that season to ever unlock it.

For more context: Had to complete those two sabotage quests to get empire hunts unlocked, got (2) different machine gun kills bounties (one requiring lost sectors), and had no choice to quickly grind an LMG out at that point (hunts not unlocked). Yeah there were options to get around this, but it still sucks that I literally had to pump up a thunderlord just because I had no current LMGs. This is just an example I wanted to point out about how sunsetting is already showing it's flaws as a concept!

According to light.gg, Forsaken added 98 new legendary/exotic weapons. Beyond light added only 31.

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 09:18 AM PST

That number goes down to 25 without the adept trials weapons, and down to 23 without the reissued iron banner weapons. Without the season pass weapons, it becomes an abysmal 18 new weapons associated with Beyond Light. That is just sad. Edit: it's priced the same as forsaken, so I think it's fair to make that comparison.

The art, marketing, and writing teams need to see a doctor. The strain on their backs can’t be healthy

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 10:18 AM PST

Seriously Bungie. The art team, marketing team, and writing teams are the only ones living up to expectations. The visuals and sounds are astounding, the lore is incredible, and the story progression meaningful. The marketing is awesome and generates a ton of hype. But everybody else, y'all gotta step up your game. There are ~30 new weapons with this expansion. Want to know how many are going away? Many times that. The world loot pool is the exact same. Shadowkeep content's light level recommendation is higher than the gear it drops. Sunsetting doesn't work, as the community has stated. Balance in the crucible has gone to nothing, with it taking whole seconds to unfreeze yourself (who thought that this time was at all transferable between PvP and PvE?!). Servers are still potato. Masterworking armor is still too expensive for 3 seasons of viability. Come on Bungie, you can do better than this.

Edit: my understanding was that music was included with art but I guess that's not the case

Edit 2: by writing team, I was referring to lore writers. The cutscene writers have not done a good job

Shadowkeep Loot Should Not Have Been Sunset

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 03:38 PM PST

    Pretty much title.

With four less destinations than we previously had, sunsetting of gear and the removal of flashpoints, we all pretty much agree that there's a lack of loot. One big gripe with this is that the moon as a whole has so many activities that offer a fair amount of gear which is now all irrelevant. Nightmare Hunts, Altars of Sorrow, Pit of Heresy, Lectern? All still playable, but all irrelevant. These don't need to drop powerful gear anymore, but it would be nice to have them feel pseudo-relevant with many old activities and gear gone now.

The ONLY weapons that needed to be sunset were pinnacle weapons.

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 10:07 AM PST

Pinnacle weapons were basically impossible to balance. They were essentially exotic weapons that didn't take up your exotic slot. You didn't have to grind to get a good roll on the weapon. All you had to do to obtain them was a quest.

If I recall correctly, recluse was nerfed 3 times, and it still remained in the top 3 legendary energy primaries in the game, amongst last hope and IKELOS SMG.

This is why MT, Recluse and Anarchy has remained one of the best PvE loadouts ever since Season of Opulence. Every time new weapons came out, they couldn't compete. The pinnacle weapons were already better than the new stuff even the new stuff had a god roll, so there was no point in grinding for god rolls. People would try the new weapons once and go straight back to their pinnacle weapons. They were a crutch for PvE content that made it too easy to complete activities, and the fact that they were earned through quests made it far too easy to have the best gear in the game.

Then Bungie stopped adding pinnacle weapons and started making 'Ritual' weapons instead, which were just weapons with okayish rolls on them. But they couldn't make these ritual weapons too good, otherwise it would duplicate the problem that pinnacles had.

This is why literally nobody used the Buzzard. On paper it wasn't a bad kinetic sidearm, but Breachlight exists. So there was never a reason to do the quest to get Buzzard. People could just spam fractaline at the tower obelisk or spam umbral focusing at the recaster to get a good breachlight.

Now that sunsetting is here, there is a massive loot vacuum because most of the weapons that weren't sunset cannot be obtained any more. They were only available in the season in which they came out. People who weren't able to get good rolls on these weapons don't have MT/recluse replacements. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

Another example is 21% Delirium; an LMG with a massive magazine size that stacked with overflow, and a damage buff that didn't go away until the weapon was stowed or reloaded. Hammerhead couldn't compete. Edgewise couldn't compete. The two season of opulence LMGs couldn't compete. Simply sunsetting the Delirium would have solved this issue, but instead the seraph LMG is now the only legendary LMG in the game that isn't sunset, and you can't even get it any more.

An easier fix however would be to simply reverse sunsetting in its entirety, with the exception of keeping pinnacle weapons sunset so that they can no longer be used to burn through new content with ease, without the need to actually grind for any new gear that the new content introduces.

The weather system on Europa is downright oppressive sometimes and I freaking love it.

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 04:07 PM PST

I've been wanting dynamic weather in Destiny since I first started in year one of D1. Titan had a good facsimile of rain but it wasn't noticeable a lot of the times. But Europa. Wow.

I honestly didn't think Bungie could pull off such oppressive weather in their game engine. I love the reduction of visibility that forces me to close the distance in firefights and drive around a little slower. I love that that my sparrow sometimes gets blown away when I disembark it. I love the reduced visibility of far off structures. It really changes the way certain locations feel when I revisit them.

How many people are actually enjoying Beyond Light?

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 08:44 AM PST

I'm seeing so many negative posts on this sub and I don't understand them, I'm having an absolute fucking blast with Beyond Light. I'm in love with Stasis, and I'm going to spend more time on Europa and in the Cosmodrome than I ever spent on all of the areas that got vaulted combined. Am I just the outlier?

Hot take: Bungie shouldn't be applauded when they add things this expansion should have had

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 06:09 PM PST

The title says it all. It's a vicious cycle for this game where something comes out and it underperforms. Only for Bungie to add in features later on that should have been there originally, and be heralded as heroes for doing so.

Come next season or so, I am willing to bet that Bungie states they are adding something that people want, yet should have been available right now with the release of the yearly expansion. Whatever it be from a Crucible / Gambit over-haul to a massively expanded loot pool, or reasons to grind content that had no purpose before. They'll boast about adding in these features and people will praise them for "fixing the game" when it shouldn't have been in a situation prior to need fixing.

I know people aren't going to like this, but it needs to be said that praising them for solving problems they create leads to this being repeated over and over.

I've never seen an expansion in a game where it removes half the game and adds so little

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 08:25 AM PST

You're essentially paying 40 dollars to remove more content than what your getting. The new planet is cool and the story is alright but this is by far one of the worst expansions for the price point. Only 1 new strike, no new crucible maps, gambit is forgotten, barely any new fucking loot in a looter game, and there isn't a full vendor reset. There's even more problems that I can go on about, but you guys get the idea. Idk what the hell is going on in bungie but they gotta figure their shit out.

Bungie should’ve added a D1 Armour set to the Cosmodrome

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 11:44 AM PST

This would keep in line with each destination having had their own armour set. Would've been a good chance to bring back a good looking armour set from D1.

Also means there at least some extra armour available

If I can beat a campaign in 2-3 hours, that isn't me rushing the content, that's a short campaign. Plain and simple.

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 08:33 AM PST

I'm honestly enjoying the expansion so far, but you can run your alt through the campaign in less than 3 hours.. That's not me bum rushing content. That's a short ass campaign. There's no way to twist that.

This idea needs to die in 2020. Leveling is not content.. especially when I'm pushed into weekly playlists and lost-sectors I've spent 1,000 hours on to level effectively.

I didn't do that by the way, was able to get to 1200 without doing any old content, but the argument stands. Focus does need to shift to what gameplay loops lie ahead and how replayable those are, but none of that discounts how short that campaign was.

There are so many parallels that could be drawn here, so many metaphors, but if you need it explained to you like that, frankly it likely won't matter what anyone says. You are wrong and you picked an awfully bad hill to die on.

Breaking free should not be bound to the Class Ability button.

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 09:23 AM PST

The only class that mashes their Class Ability in a panic are Hunters. Titans and Warlocks quickly learn that, thanks to the casting time of Barricades and Rifts, using their Class Ability at the wrong time can and will get them killed.

Breaking free of Stasis should be... almost any other button, really. Jump or Sprint because they're movement-oriented. Crouch if you're feeling spicy. Maybe Melee because you're using your strength to bust out. Literally anything but the Ability buttons.

You guys need to stop criticizing beyond light for being lackluster

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 12:33 PM PST

Stasis in PVP is a mistake.

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 04:05 PM PST

Stasis is cool and I love it for PVE, but I think Bungie should remove the darkness from PVP play and make it only PVE. It's not fun to play against, it's not fair to play against. I'm not trying to be a whiny baby but this literally needs to be removed or PVP is gonna be a joke.

It's literally infinite freezing without any counterplay. Bungie please remove it from PVP until you figure out how to implement it into PVP without breaking the game.

Collections screen doesn't remember the tab you are on after inspecting an item

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 03:04 PM PST

Let's say you go to the "Flair / Shaders" tab, inspect a shader and then press the back button. The game won't go back to the Shaders tab, but will instead go to the first tab in the Flair section, which is "Flair / Emblems".

It happens with every section in the Collections screen: inspecting an item and then pressing the back button ("Circle" on PS4) will take you back to the first tab of the respective section (inspecting a special weapon will take you back to "Weapons / Primary" instead of "Weapons / Special"). It gets tiring very fast if you want to inspect multiple items (like shaders).

    Europa is beautiful

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 08:41 AM PST

Lack of stasis weapons and armor is what really dissapoints me.

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 10:54 AM PST

I knew loot would be mediocre, after the reissues in Arrivals and the preview of ritual armors. But once they announced a new element i was excited to see it on guns (and armor afinity), and also enemy shields (especially fallen on europa). Having only 1 weapon with stasis dmg. In a stasis themed expansion... Hits hard.

I know they never said a thing about stasis element on weapons. But... was i so wrong to assume a new element would be present on guns?

Don't nerf stasis, just disable it in PvP

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 06:33 PM PST

Both sides should be ok with that. There is no need to neuter it in PvE just because its impossible to balance pvevp separately. Or at very least make a separate stasis playlist for QP.

Like most of the people I've talked to or read posts here so far I agree that freezing has no place in PvP. Its really unbalanced and we all knew this was going to happen. Only people that could be fine with it are the types that used to run mt top, gnawing, witherhoard, jotunn, bastion etc

Outside of Europa the game feels dead

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 02:22 AM PST

To Bungie employees that will see this: I'm sorry that this is the first thing that you might see. I'm not here trying to drag Destiny or Bungie down, I just want a fun game with a lot of cool stuff to obtain. I'm not hating because it's a cool thing to do. I like Destiny, I want to play Destiny, and I want to see it go places. If we don't voice our opinion about things then how do things get better?

    • There are 0 new Crucible maps or new modes. Bungie, guys, you revolutionized the FPS genre with Halo with a TON of cool modes, where is that same studio? Do you know how much fun something like Infection would be in Destiny. Outside of no new maps or modes there just isn't anything that pushes me to go into the Crucible. I don't have fun in the Crucible what with all the cheesy one-shot mega strong weapons and stuff, and I realize nothing will ever be done about that because Destiny is a unique game where there are no limits, it's not like Destiny is grounded in reality, so there's no need to make weapons realistic and balanced, and that would be completely fine if there were fun goofy modes for the people that want a more relaxed experience, but there just isn't, and that's sad.

    • There are 0 new Gambit maps or even changes to Gambit in general. Gambit and Gambit Prime got mashed together, but that's about it. No changes to weapon damage, ammo economy, health, etc.

    • There still isn't any reason to play Strikes outside of a quest telling you to. We still don't have strike loot.

    • There's very few new weapons and armor. I can grind these (imo hideous) armor sets from Shaxx, Drifter, and Zavala, but that's it. Bruh, Warlock literally only has 2 new Exotic armor pieces, like seriously? There isn't a huge amount of new weapons, I'm getting old weapons from NEW missions, like seriously? And this is a big problem because with sunsetting I can't use any of my old stuff, but there barely is any new stuff to chase. My fears about sunsetting are coming true.

    • The Cosmodrome is back but what is its purpose? It was cool visiting old areas I used to hang out in, but I don't see a reason to go back to the Cosmodrome unless a quest tells me to. And Shaw's bounties don't even give you anything of importance to make you want to do them.

Edit: Being a day into the Expansion is irrelevant, are you incapable of forming an opinion after hours of play?

Edit 2: I can't respond to every comment so edits will have to do. In terms of the season not starting yet, maybe it will add a few new things, but that's all they'll be, just a few. With sunsetting in full effect we can't have just 3 new guns added. I don't mind replacing my weapons if there were even weapons to replace them with in the first place. And in terms of Crucible, not a single mention of new modes or maps is present on the Season of the Hunt Roadmap.

Edit 3: Well, it's been nice knowing you, I'm now been permanently banned. There were some comments that I made in reply to people where I was out of line, and in an attempt to correct my mistakes I decided to delete those comments, but they don't care. Apparently the r/DTG mods are flawless human beings who never make mistakes.

Previewing shaders from collections will always take you back to the emblems now rather than the page that you were on

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 12:31 PM PST

It's such a small change but it's so god damn infuriating, having to switch tabs every single time you right click to inspect a shader.
